  1. I personally couldn't get used to the fact that I couldn't eat healthy foods with the band. Things like salads, some vegetables and lean meats were the hardest for me to get down. I had all my fill taken out about 4 years ago and up until last week (when I was sleeved) I would still vomit up certain foods. I hated it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    October sleevers?

I was revision from band. I had the band removed and sleeve done in the same surgery on Tuesday. Recovering so well. Like the others, a bit of gas pain but I was so surprised at how ok I was. Personally the pain I experienced from the band was WAY worse than the sleeve. You don't feel pain at all in the tummy like you did with the band. I just feel like I have indigestion. October sleevers?

I've been sleeping on my side since day 2. I just prop a pillow up alongside my belly and it seems to take the pressure off. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    October sleevers?

Wasn't doing much in the hospital until day 2 in the late afternoon. I was super sleepy as well. My nurse told me to try and get up every hour or so and walk for a couple of minutes at a time which I've been doing all afternoon and feel so much better. October sleevers?

I was super emotional as well, particularly the day before. I'm now 2 days post op and feeling fine, hardly any pain. You'll be fine. Just breathe and think positive thoughts. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    October sleevers?

Hi all. Got sleeved 3:30pm yesterday. Bit of pain to begin with but nothing too bad. The gas pain is worse & surprisingly my stomach doesn't hurt at all. Drugs are my friend. Just had half a bowl of chicken broth & no pain, no nausea. Winning. Speedy recovery to everyone. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  8. Hi all I'm due to be sleeved in 3 days and I wanted to ask everyone's opinion on my post op diet given to me by my nutritionist. Her booklet says to go straight onto purées once I leave the hospital (from day 3). Eg of food is "half a cup of puréed meat and puréed veg or scrambled eggs". I know we should follow our teams advice but quite frankly this scares the crap out of me. My sister is sleeved so I've seen her journey, and the amount of posts I've read here about people having trouble with just liquid, I'm not sure I should be going straight to purée. I also haven't been given a daily Protein goal. Just 1.5 L of Water a day. (I'm Australian) Any advice or stories from those in a similar boat very appreciated. Edit: Sorry I've posted this in 2 threads and I can't figure out how to delete one. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Need advice on my post op diet

Thanks to everyone for taking the time to reply. And for the great advice. I think it'll just have to be a bit of trial and error. And I will speak with my surgeon in a few days and see what he says. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  11. I searched this topic but answers were a bit sporadic. Hoping for some insight. How much could you eat at 3 months, 6 months, 12 months etc? I know in the early months it's like half a cup and I know it depends on what food you're eating, but I also know this increases over time. So roughly, how big is/was your portion size for most main meals at 3,6,12 months etc etc. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Before pre op

I did the same. I hadn't mentally come to terms with everything & I wasn't ready to give up the bad food. I ate everything in sight right up until the day before I started my pre op diet. I'm on day 9 pre op and have not cheated once. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  15. @@missvee The good news is that it gets easier as the days go on. The great news is that you only have to do this for 2 days. I'm currently on day 6. Are you allowed miso soup? It's packed with Protein and is only 30 or so calories. @@paramedic I know everyone's pre op diet is different but if it makes you feel better, I'm allowed 100g of protein (including eggs), per day. 16. I just had to share my craziness this morning. I'm on day 1 of my pre-op diet. First of all I hate bananas, and I can't actually remember the last time I ate fruit. Today, Day 1, 8am, driving to work and I swear I can smell bananas and I reacted like I'd been on Survivor for the past month and had been living on a diet of rice and coconuts. Geez, I longed for that banana... And had a near nervous breakdown because I can't eat fruit for the next 2 weeks. I'M MENTAL !! Haha. Tell me I'm not the only crazy person here. Day 1: Crazy Town

@@Kayla578 I feel the same way. I feel like I'm questioning this surgery every minute of the day. I love food so much. I know I'll miss it. But I know eventually I'll be able to eat bigger portions (more than half a cup) and that the good from this hopefully will outweigh the bad. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Costs resulting from WLS

@@HuneComz If it makes you feel any better, my surgery alone will cost me $27,000 (Aus) But I think it's worth every penny. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  20. My best friend is not supportive either and constantly challenges me about the sleeve. She's even gone as far as saying she's unhappy because her eating habits will have to change when she's with me, even though I've told her she doesn't have to. I know this has nothing to do with me and everything to do with her and her insecurities but it's still sad. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Cheated on Pre Op Diet

Don't beat yourself up. It happens. It's interesting that there are so many pre op diets out there. I'm allowed to have 100g of Protein each day (as well as my shakes and vegies). My surgeon said it is ok to have a tiny bit more meat if I'm still hungry. Whereas my sister's surgeon said 50g meat and as many vegies as she likes. I'm curious. What does everyone's pre op diet entail? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

BJJ & Weight Training before & after Gastric Sleeve?

@@eastharlempana Welcome!! I'm pre op so I can't really talk about my experience but there's a guys group on here that I recommend checking out. A lot of them are frequent gym goers and will have advice on muscle gain etc. I'm a Krav Maga girl and I know what it's like to be so obsessed with something you can't imagine not doing it for a day, let alone a month or two. I've been injured more times than I can remember and not being able to train is so hard. But I think this is just going to be one of those short term pain for long term gain type of situations. The waiting sucks, but you'll need to just be patient and give yourself time to heal. When the time comes, you'll be able to kick arse even harder. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Salsa

  24. You're not doing anything wrong @sleeved83016. It's only been a couple of days. Any weight loss or gain you see from one day to the next is going to be Fluid, not fat. Don't stress. A decent wee will probably see that weight drop straight off again. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
