    Encouragement

Thanks everyone. Thankfully the travel is a once a year thing and the rest of the year I work from my home site. I did bring protein drinks and bars so I tried to use those for meals as much as I could. I mostly stuck to chicken when we went out, had a burger without the bun one night as well. I just dislike not having that control over my meals. It's nice to have someplace to come to for encouragement from people in my shoes. Some of the people I traveled with know, some don't but none of them have first hand experience. I'm back to my yogurt, protein drinks, lean protein and cheese for my meals. I did avoid the pizza and opted for some tuna instead
  2. When not drinking water I drink a lot of Iced Tea, unsweetened and fresh brewed. I also will drink Crystal Light from time to time but the artificial sweetener has become kind of gross so I really have to be in the mood for it.
  3. It's important to remember everyone heals differently and at a different pace. I never had any issues with nausea (other than due to the anesthesia) and no vomiting at all. I was able to get my fluids in very quicky after surgery and am able to drink normal amounts and pace now at 3 months out. I also have no issues with being only able to eat bites. I can eat 3-4 ounces comfortably.
  4. I was between 800-900 calories at 6 weeks, I don't do low fat and I keep my carbs below 50 at the suggestion of my nut. I keep my protein at around 100 grams a day. I'm now 12 1/2 weeks out and my calories are between 900-1000 most days. Still try and keep my carbs below 50 though my nut said anything below 65 is okay by her and protein between 100-110 most days. I'm steady losing about 2-3 pounds a week except my cycle week. I'm currently down 36 from surgery. Sounds like you are doing well!
  5. I am like you. I prefer to do a moderation diet as opposed to an elimination diet and that's what works for me. Will it work for everyone? No it won't but you have to find what works for you and follow that diet. Sugar was never a big trigger for me in the sense of candy, cakes and cookies. I was always a bread and carbs person so I try an avoid breads, pasta and other high carb foods. I had a couple bites of cake last week and it did nothing for me. I also personally try and avoid artificial sweetener as much as possible, I hate the sick sweetness and it's horrible for you. I stick to natural sugars and water.
  6. I was on pureed at 3 weeks. I ate a lot of tuna in the blender with a little low fat mayo, refried beans and cheese with a little salsa, ricotta bake, cottage cheese with a little peach pureed in it. Soups, lots of soups. I started exercising beyond walking at 4 weeks.
  7. I'm still supplementing so 40 grams comes from my protein drinks, I use the Lift Protein by Atkins and it's not bad. I drink 2 a day at 20g of protein. For breakfast I typically eat greek yogurt. I do the Triple Zero so that give 15 grams of protein. For lunch I usually bring left overs from the night before or do lunch meat and cheese combo for about 15 grams. Dinner typically is some sort of lean meat and veggies. Examples of what I eat are baked or grilled balsamic chicken, Lemon grilled chicken, roasted turkey breast, homemade tuna salad with no bread, homemade burgers with no bun, chili (either ground beef or ground turkey) or meatloaf. Sometimes we do "tacos" with no shell or with a carb balance tortilla. I do a lot of low fat cheese in my meals so that boosts the protein count. My veggies I tend to stick to green veggies like broccoli, brussel sprouts and grilled squash and onions.

    11 weeks post op

I was unable to stomach the shakes so I have switched to Atkins Lift Protein drinks and they go down much better. I'm drinking two a day to boost my protein intake, I am getting about 100 grams a day and find myself to be much less tired. Also my NUT had my up my calories because I was under eating.

    Ground beef

I've been cleared for ground beef since 3 weeks out and have had zero issues with it. I actually prefer ground beef to chicken or turkey as a protein because it goes down better.
  10. It's a great feeling. I'm 10.5 weeks out and I've gone from a tight 20 to a loose 16. It's a great feeling.

    Walking on treadmill

My doctor wanted me to start walking for exercise at my 2 week appointment. I started walking outside and moved onto the treadmill by 4 weeks. I now try and walk at least 2 miles a day but sometimes life gets in the way.
  12. I just purchased some last night at the suggestion of some of the people in my local group as my family is taking a road trip at the end of this week and we will be on the road for 3 days. I bought one of every flavor just to try them.
  13. I at a week shy of 3 months and I'm getting between 800-1000 calories a day. I get 90-100 grams of protein and that's about all I track. I try and keep my carbs below 50 but I'm rigid with it and my nut suggested to not even count them right now.

    Confessions

I'm cleared for a regular diet now but when I was going through my steps I stuck to my NUTs nutrition plan. However now there is not anything I don't eat. If I want a taste of something, I take it. I stick to protein rich food first but I don't deny myself. Yesterday was my birthday, I had two bites of a cupcake and I didn't hate myself for it but I also don't eat sweets on a regular basis anymore.

    How often shoud one eat?

I'm at 10wks currently and I'm eating 3 times a day with 1-2 small snacks per my NUT suggestion. However the first month post op all I did was eat and drink. Every two hours was about right.

    Protein drinks

I use Lift Protein by Atkins. They go down much easier than shakes and don't taste bad. 20 grams of protein.

    Pizza that is the ?

We had pizza last night, thin crust from a local pizzeria. I was able to eat 3/4 of a slice and that satisfied me. I had no issues with it but I seem to have a sleeve of steel because I have yet to find a food that bothers me. I'm 10wks out.

    Protein bar

    Quest and Luna are good!
  19. My NUT said that nut butters, including Peanut butter, were okay starting in the pureed stage. Once cleared for a regular diet I was allowed nuts and crunchy peanut butter.

    Booze!!

I was told to wait 6 months. I used to love a glass of wine for dinner so I thought it would be hard but I think I tricked my brain into thinking I am pregnant in regards to drinking because it's been easier than expected.

    For the Ladies

Thanks ladies. Its good to know I'm not alone in this craziness. I just feel like I have never ending hunger today. Obviously I'm not giving in but I did treat myself to a little snack a work this afternoon which I never do.
  22. I'm almost 10 wks post VSG and have found that during my monthly cycle I can actually eat more and I always feel hungry. It's only during this time that I get that feeling of hunger. I know its hormones but anyone else feel they can actually eat more during their cycle?

    Diet coke

I have not gone back to drinking soda and I was a daily Coke Zero drinker but I was told that if I can tolerate carbonation then I can drink it, it will not stretch the stomach. My NUT told me that Seltzer water was okay to drink if I could drink it without gas/pain issues. I haven't tried to drink any though, I just have no desire.
  24. My plan was 1 week full liquids, 2-3 weeks pureed, 4-5 weeks soft solids and regular diet after 8 weeks. At 4 weeks I was eating a lot of eggs, chicken salad, ricotta bake, tuna and refried beans. My NUT adjusts protein intake and calories to your height and weight goals so I'm getting between 90-100 grams of protein and 700-1000 calories per day, but usually average between 800-900. I'm almost 10wks out and I'm 32 pounds down since surgery (62 total). I also have a very forgiving sleeve. I have not found a single food I cannot eat, I have had no food aversions at all and I've tried a lot of different foods. Real sweet foods do not taste good to me to I avoid them and I keep my carbs to a low but nothing makes me sick or sits bad. I can eat about 3-5 ounces per meal depending on what I'm eating but I def feel it when I over eat.

    December sleevers

My NUT suggested to track calories but she also said to not make it an obsessive thing, her guidelines were between 700-1000 calories a day. I try and track almost everything that goes into my mouth but sometimes, if I'm not eating at home I don't .
