  1. For the first two weeks I was sleeping, sipping and walking around my house in laps. I had my surgery in December so walking outside was dangerous at times due to the snow/ice. After my two week check up I started walking more, I tried to get in about a mile a day. I started back at the gym 4 weeks post op just light walking.
  2. I've not had an issue tolerating foods. I will be 5 months on Friday and can eat pretty much anything. I don't... but I can.
  3. I'm currently pending a HIDA scan for GallBladder issues. My Ultrasound did not show any stones but my surgeon said that doesn't mean they are not there or that my Gallbladder is functioning properly. I had surgery 12/30 and haven't had issues since an attack 2 weeks ago. I get transient pain now.

How long till you hit GOAL Weight?

Oh Jesus, 300! Well I could never get 300 carbs in a day doing protein first with the size of my meals. Maybe if I just sit and eat carbs all day. I guess it's more like super low but not super super low like some people do Also I forgot to add, I have a desk job but I do work out in the gym 4 days a week, low impact cardio or swimming and then just chase my toddlers around the rest of the time.
  5. Health reasons were of course my first reason for doing this, I want to be here to see my kids grow up. But appearance was an important reason as well, I've been overweight since I was 12 years old and I'm not going to lie that for the first time ever I'm not just the "Fat Girl with the Pretty Face". I'm average sized now and growing up with a super naturally thin sister, it feels nice to stand next to her and not look like just the fat one.

How long till you hit GOAL Weight?

I'm 38 pounds from my surgeons goal of 175lbs and I'm 5'10". I'm a week shy of 5 months out. HW was 301, SW was 271 and I'm currently 213 (down 58 pounds since surgery) I do not do any sort of super low carb as my NUT says it's detrimental to long term health. She said during losing phase I should keep my carbs around 45 and around 90 in maintenance. Otherwise it's protein, protein, protein.
  7. Thank you, you too. I hope to get to my total goal by October 1st but I'm just taking it one week at a time. 12/30 will be my 1 year post op.

    Did you tell people?

I have told my immediate family (Hubby, Children, Parents, Siblings, In-Laws) and a handful of friends and co-workers, Maybe like 5 or so people non family. When people ask I tell them I'm doing High Protein, Low Carb and increasing my cardio at the gym.

    Pain in lower right belly

If it continues I would have it checked out. When I had appendicitis, I had none of the symptoms except abdominal pain and it was more central than right sided. They actually ruled out appendicitis on their physical exam and then sent me for a CAT scan and it came back that it was in fact my appendix. Had it out about 5 hours later.

    Five months out[emoji17]

I'm a week shy of 5 months and I've started to lose a lot of hair in the last month. It's pretty similar to when I was pregnant and a lot of it has to do with shifting hormones. Biotin is what is recommended most in my local bariatric group. I haven't yet to try it because my hair is naturally thick and it hasn't become an issue for me yet.
  11. Congrats!!! It really is a huge milestone. I'm currently 14 pounds away from Onederland and 23 pounds from my first goal (190 lbs) and 38 pounds (175 lbs) from my surgeons total goal from me. It seems so close yet so far. My weight loss has slowed a bit this month but still losing 1-2 pounds most weeks. I'm a week shy of 5 months out so I'm feeling good.

    Carbonated beverages?

My doctor said after 6 months if I have no discomfort I can have carbonated water again. I was a big seltzer drinker and need something other than plain water so I'm excited to try. I'm not a fan of artificial sweeteners so it's been unsweet tea and water since surgery. My doctor said with the sleeve stretching is not an issue and even with bypass you would have to drink an inhuman amount. He said it's more about possible discomfort as well as the possibility of it being a gateway to things like soda.

    Eating to little

I agree with the other about tracking your food. I was actually consuming to few calories early out, I was exhausted and my weight loss was super slow, and my NUT had me bump it up and I actually began to lose more weight and my energy improved .

    VSG & autoimmune diseases?

One of my closest friends and my inspiration to take this journey myself has MG. She has been successful on her journey thus far. She's 3 years out and over 100 pounds down at her lowest weight, she is currently pregnant so she's gained some back but is maintaining her weigtloss well.
  15. Cheese, jerky, pepperoni, carrots and nuts are my go to snacks.
  16. They have little individual cup servings of PB that I can keep in my desk or throw in my lunch bag if I'm on the go. I think Smuckers makes some, and Jif too maybe. I will do like half a serving of that an half a banana.

    Protein bars?

My NUT said after 10 wks for protein bars unless they are nut free then it was fine after 8 wks. I am a sleever though so not sure if that makes a difference.
  18. Individual peanut butter and a couple apple slices or banana or just a spoon is a go to snack for me on those days when I skip lunch or am feeling sluggish in the afternoon. Also protein bars, nuts of any sort and fresh veggies.

    Watermelon?

My nut wants me eating fruit, at least once a day. I've had Watermelon with no issues and found it easy to eat and easy to digest for me personally. My NUT said fruit is an important part of your diet when used in moderation.

    Periods and food

I have found that during my period my body needs more calories than I normally do especially if am going heavy at the gym. I have accepted that but now that Im aware of it I can make sensible choices.
  21. I never received one and I've never had an issue ordering food from the kids menu the few times they had something worth eating. Mostly I get appetizers or ask if they do half plates. A lot of restaurants do if you ask.

    catheters

I had one, they left it in for about 24 hours. Once I was off my IV they took out the Cath. Also I was sleeved and my surgery took about 1.5 hours according to my hubby.
  23. I read an article about women's clothing sizes that put things into perspective a little as for changing clothing sizes. The article said that regular sized up to a size 12 have a 1 inch difference in the fit of the waste between sizes, regular sizes 14-18 have a 1.5" difference and plus sizes have a 3" difference so you will logically lost clothing sizes slower in plus sizes. I'm down 83 pounds and most days I still don't see a difference in myself either (301-219) but I also see myself everyday. Remember as time passes and more weight loss happens you will see the difference.

    Condiments?

I love Salsa, I eat it about once a week. My NUT had no issues with me eating it. I tend to keep BBQ sauce to a minimum if it has a lot of sugar in it. Ketchup and Mustard I do use but not much and I stick to low fat mayo if I chose to use mayo.
