    Halo ice cream

I've had it twice in the last month or so when I wanted a treat. I'm almost 7 months out (next week) and 20 pounds from goal at this point and my NUT said it was a good choice for a sweet treat. That being said sugar is not an issue for me and I also made sure I stuck to the serving size. If sugars are a trigger I would avoid it, plus you are so fresh from surgery I would probably wait until I was on regular food as least. It's a nice treat but not something I would eat on a regular basis.

    After Surgery Taste Issues

My tastes never really changed but I got real tired of sweet stuff real quick. I had to switch from a Protein shake to a protein water after surgery because at 3 times a day, I couldn't stomach the protein shakes. They tasted fine but the texture started to bother me. Now at almost 7 months out I am drinking a shake a day again to boost my protein and they do not bother me at all in taste or texture. I also drink mostly black tea, I cannot drink sweets and artificial sweetener in stuff like Crystal Light is just to much. Tea, Water, Fairlife Milk and one Atkins shake a day are my drinks. I will occasionally have a seltzer water as well since carbonation does not bother me.
  3. Seems pretty accurate for me. I was 271 day of surgery and I've lost 71 pounds in about 6.5 months. I also lost 30 pounds pre surgery so I'm down a total of 101 pounds but only 71 from the surgery.

    Bread Products!

To answer your question about tolerating bread products, I'm 6.5 months out and they do not bother me and I can tolerate them just fine. My sleeve is like a sleeve of steel and there is not much I can't tolerate. Bread does not increase my cravings for bread but everyone is different. I personally eat between 50-100 grams of carbs a day and it's working for me. I've lost 101 pounds so far and I'm 20 away from my goal. That being said, complex carbs are the way to go and mostly get my carbs from grains and veggies. When I'm wanting a sandwich type of meal I use the Mission Whole Grain Carb Balance Tortillas to make a wrap or even a quesadilla or pizza. If I eat bread on a rare occasion I go with whole grain and I toast it. I avoid pasta personally and rice.
  5. I didn't have a drink until I hit 6 months post-op and got the okay from my doctor. I've never been a big drinker so it wasn't big deal to me to abstain. I've since had 2 drinks at a wedding, a glass of red wine with dinner and one of the couple signature cocktails (Malibu, Sprite and Blue Curuaco) at cocktail hour. Then this weekend I had a Lemon Drop Martini on a date night with hubby. I do not feel it hit me any harder than when I used to drink on occasion prior to surgery.

  7. My first 3 months I lost 37lbs, I had couple stalls during that time as well. I was 271 day of surgery. I'm currently 6.5 months out and have lost 71 pounds since surgery, 101 since I started my program a year ago tomorrow.
  8. I'm glad the Protonix is helping. I too am taking it and it did help with my hunger early out. Not sure if I need it anymore but I continue to take it anyway. Another tip, I know you mentioned that mentality of not wanting to throw food away when there are people starving. I get that. My grandmother was the youngest of 9 and born in 1930, you cleared your plate at her house, she used to say it needed to be so clean she "didn't need to wash it". Since she watched us after school, I think her mentality was a big factor in me being overweight. Portions are were more my problem then what we were actually eating, my mother had an eating disorder (at 5'4" she was 102 pounds) during my childhood so she never had unhealthy or fatty foods in the house. Anyway, I digress, I always ask for no buns, rather than throw it away, just don't get it. So a go to for me at McDs is a grilled chicken no bun.
  9. Surgery: 12/30/16 HW: 301 Day of Surgery: 271 CW: 200 Size: 22W- 12/14 I have officially lost 101 pounds since starting the program last July and it feels amazing!!

It finally broke 2 weeks ago and I've lost 7 pounds in 2 weeks. I'm so close to Onederland I can taste it. 30 pounds from my surgeons over all goal but he said he will be happy with 180 maintaining based on my height (5'10")
  11. Your doing outstanding. I'm literally .4 away from Onederland so I know the excitement you are feeling. I've been bouncing between 200.8 and 200.4 for 3 days.
  12. Walking around the lake and not feeling winded and actually having energy. Riding on the paddle boat with my son and husband and being able to easily paddle around the lake, and my hubby and no longer almost sink the front of the boat. 160 pounds down combined.

    1st restaurant experience post op

I've been thinking about saving to have my boobs done. My stomach is a mess but I can live with it, I look good in clothing as this point and I'm not ever planning on a bikini. My upper arms are horrible but I have seen that surgery done and heard it's super painful but my boobs....disaster!

    Success

Thanks for the support. When I stepped on the scale this AM it was the best feeling. I weight once a week so it was a nice surprise (3 pounds down this week too, when I've been only losing about 1 a week lately.)

    Extreamly sore back?!

My back hurt for a good 8 weeks after surgery. Like very painful back pain and when I spoke to my doctor he said it's because I'm carrying myself differently as I lose more and more weight. I haven't had the serious back pain since about 2 months out but my tailbone still hurts on a daily basis

    I'm Cold?!

I'm cold all the time now, especially in the air conditioning. Other people complain it's hot and I'm wearing a sweater in July

    1st restaurant experience post op

When people ask who I don't feel like sharing my surgery with I tell them that I am doing portion control, high protein, low carb, clean eating and hitting the gym. That satisfies most peoples questions and many are like I'm going to try that. My hubby followed that plan, no surgery and dropped 64 pounds so it's possible.

I have developed a couple tricks, I have only once been questioned by a waiter about the food quality and if my food was okay. First, ask for a to go container from the get go. I just always say "I know I'm going to need one anyway. Then put your portion your not eating out of sight and your plate looks cleared. Also I do a lot of moving of food around my plate so it looks like I ate more than I did. Also sometimes if my hubby orders the same type of thing, I will put some of my left overs on his plate so then nobody questions it. Finally I always ask if they have a smaller portion or lighter fare menu so that I'm not ordering as much food to begin with. If it's close to lunch hours I ask for the lunch portion since it's usually smaller.

    Packing for hospital??

I was in the hospital for 3 days (12/30-1/1). Stuff I actually used in the hospital was chapstick (my plan did not allow me to take anything by mouth for about 24 hours so my lips were so dry), flip flops, a nightgown, fresh under garments, my phone charger, magazines, a hair brush, deodorant and a tooth brush. It felt good on the last day when I was being discharged to brush my hair, teeth and put clean clothing on after feeling pretty crappy for 2 days.

    popcorn when?

My nut said 10 weeks. I've eaten popcorn a hand full of times since then. I have an air popper and it's really good with a little sea salt.
  22. Sullie06

    Oatmeal?

My doc/NUT had it on the approved list for puree. My NUT said to make it soupy. I ate a lot of Cream of Wheat because I prefer it to Oatmeal and still eat it on occasion when I need a change or am doing a high carb day. I eat on a variable cycle so my body doesn't get used to eating the same way.

How long a stall is too long?

I'm 6.5 months out at just broke a 5 week stall. I'm now 11 pounds from goal but it's been slow going the last two months. My NUT advised me to switch up my diet to get my body moving again. I dropped my calories to about 800 for a day, then upped them to 1200 then next day, dropped them to 1000 the day after and then my stall broke. I have lost 6 pounds in the last 2 weeks after nothing for 5. I'm currently getting between 1100-1300 calories a day, 80-100 g of Protein, 50-100 grams of carbs. I hit 100 pounds total loss this morning.
  24. Sullie06

    Calories

By 3 months my NUT wanted me to be up around 1000 calories and work my way up to 1200 calories and then stay there until after a year post op. She also say that she wanted me right about 45g of carbs for the first 6 months and then around 90-100 grams after that.
  25. I just had a month long stall that broke, stalls happen! I personally get about 1000-1300 calories a day and 50-100g of carbs during weight loss with about 80-100 grams of protein. I just changed up my diet a little and the stall broke within 4 days. I did one day with real low cals (around 750) then did a couple days at 900 and then went back to my usual 1200 and the next day I lost a pound and a half.
