  1. I am about the same age as you (I'm 22) and here's my advice. I always make sure I drink Water before I eat- both before and after my surgery I found that sometimes I mistake hunger for thirst.

When I go out to eat I always ask for a box and put at least half in it straight away. This helps me from feeling like I'm 'wasting' so much food and the visual of the smaller portion helps me.

I've also found that sometimes when I get cravings I'm satisfied with only a few bites. So I've learned to get the healthier option and then either it will pass or I'll share with someone else or have a bite of their food. Honestly though, sometimes I get treats but only have a little bit- I get much more satisfied now that I've been sleeved. Also, I found that I am more likely to have cravings if I'm hungry. What I've done is eat my meal and then my cravings substantially go away. (Side note: I tend to have more intense cravings when I'm on my period, so you may experience that).

Drinking only Water wasn't hard for me because I had started that habit years ago. If it's hard for you and you need flavor I really like the brand "Hint" water. They have no calories and come in all sorts of good flavors but don't taste artificial.

For me the hardest change to make was alcohol. It doesn't seem like you're consuming as many calories as you are and it "hits" me much faster. So just monitor it if you can't completely cut it out. If I'm being realistic about myself I don't think I could cut it out completely- like I had some wine on Thanksgiving and Christmas- but just know that it's easier to over do it on alcohol than it is on food (at least in my opinion).

Finally, when you go through a stall don't necessarily restrict yourself more. If it's been 4-6 weeks of a stall and you haven't lost inches or pounds then reassess your eating.

  2. I just went shopping.

I live alone and don't love to cook so I've been on the lookout for a lot of healthy, clean looking pre-cooked lean Proteins. The easier it is to grab something, portion it out and eat it the less likely I am to make stupid choices. And at 9 weeks out stupid choices more than likely means not eating anything for an entire day or only eating cheese.

So here's the lazy single persons list for ya:

    Fage yogurt

Pre cooked Applegate farms grilled chicken breast, plain and fajita flavor

Atkins ranch frozen lamb patties (only ingredient is ground lamb, salt and pepper)

BratHans chicken burgers (these are quickly becoming a favorite...microwave them for 1 minute)

    Individually packed 4% Cottage cheese

    Cold brew coffee

    Cabot seriously sharp cheese Snacks

    Babybel cheese

    Fairlife milk (has extra protein)

    Electrolyte enhanced Water

Saucy Fish Co lime & cilantro pre cooked salmon fillets

    Turkey perky Jerky

And some brie cheese because I'm a sucker for it

All of that will last me over 2 weeks pretty much. I also got some pineapple and strawberry today because I want to try and work small amounts of fruit into my daily diet. Total cost today was like $113.

Yes, I also live alone and find that that one of my biggest struggles is cooking and knowing how much to buy! Thanks for your suggestions! :)

Just had my 3 week check up and was told that a stall around this time is completely normal. They said to make sure to only weigh yourself 1 time a week and that even though the scale might not change you can notice a difference in the way clothes and such fit. They said that when you're working out you can burn fat by going slow and then fast and changing the intensity level throughout your workout. I was also told that a stall around the 3-6 month period also occurs.... Hope that helps!

  4. Hey! I had surgery 7/11 and I'm in the same boat. I lost 20+ pounds the first week and now have lost practically nothing. I'm exercising and getting in Protein and Water but still have not seen the scale move. I was going to come on and ask about it but saw your post. I am going to my 3 week appointment tomorrow and will let you know what they say when I talk with them about it. But you're not alone!

That's an incredible loss in a week. Your body needs time to adjust. Stay off the scale. Keep measurements - I bet you'll see a change there even if not on the scale. Congrats on a great loss!

Thank you so much! I have noticed my body changing so that's encouraging. I feel great just was not sure if it's normal or not to stall this close out from surgery.
