  1. Protein promotes healing and increased energy levels. Please refer to your team regarding the amount of protein you need. Dehydration is bad, but malnutrition is just as bad. My NUT recommended unflavored protein in broth, pudding, etc. I haven't had surgery, but I have worked in medical field for 24 years; so this recommendation is more from experience in basic Healthcare. Good luck to you.

  2. I don't have advice, but I do pray that you are able to get the support and answers you need. Just know that you didn't come this far to let a few bad moments sabotage the rest of your life.

I truly respect and understand that your emotions and background is totally different than mine, but what I have found helpful is writing in my diary. I list all my challenges and my goals. Then I write a letter to my "selves" ... the good side and the bad side. For me, it helps to put my thoughts on paper. This is something simple that may not work for everyone.

You will still have to find a way to get back on track. I know with family gatherings, it's hard. We took vacation to beach, I pack foods specifically for me so I wouldn't feel deprived.

Again, keep faith you yourself. Know that we all fail a time or two. Reach out to your support team and therapist, and develop a plan that will work for you.

    Many blessings!

  4. Hi. I started my 6 months waiting period in may with anticipated surgery on November 22. I will have my 4th NUT appt next week . I completed all other required appointments. I am patiently waiting in Georgia and learning as much as I can to prepare my mind and body. I hope we will all keep in touch and keep one another encouraged. This is truly a tough journey, but I am so thankful I finally got my "mind" in check in order to improve my health. STAY UPLIFTED! !

  5. Hi. I started my 6 months waiting period in may with anticipated surgery in November. My focus have been on training myself to eat slower, reduced carbs, increased Protein, and increased exercise. Let's not forgot, increase Water. Simply put, I am preparing my mind and body for the BIG change. I am taking time to read everything I can find on VSG . .. the good, the bad, and the ugly. I downloaded the gastric sleeve book off of bariatric pal website. It has been instrumental in providing information from the beginning of the process to post op.

I was a little inpatient initially, but each time I met my nutritionist, I learned more of changes I needed to make; this allows me plenty of time to get my "house" in order.... mentally and physically. Good luck to you. Stay strong and stay uplifted.
