    Getting Closer! So many Qs!

I was just sleeved on DEC 5, I told everyone, even announced it on Facebook but I am a very open person and everyone who knows me knows better than to say anything negative to me

    Bowel movements

I just started taking my stool softeners yesterday. I'm gonna take extra and also some natural vegetable laxatives that my surgeon said was okay. I had horrible constipated prior to the surgery anyway Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Oh no I'm glad you were finally able to go. Being constipated is miserable. How are you feeling? I'm still very sore and nauseous and dealing with the gas. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I still have allot of pain from my main left incision, but otherwise I feel pretty good, thanks for asking You're welcome ! Is it making it difficult for you to walk? My stomach feels like it's pulling when I walk. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App No it's not making it difficult when I walk anymore but it did for the first couple of days. Listen don't let it scare you that some people are already feeling normal and we still have pain. Everyone heals differently and plus I just think it takes longer for the incisions to heal on a higher bmi person because we have extra fat pulling on our incisions all the time causing them to be more painful. So keep your head up, take your pain medicine and know that this will get better.

    Gas X Strips?

Don't be too nervous about the gas pains, it affects everyone differently, I had virtually no gas pain but I'm almost two weeks out and still have terrible pain from my main incision. Everyone is different.

    Bowel movements

I am almost two weeks out and just went yesterday, I was terribly constipated and had to take miralax and stool softeners for a week straight before I went
  6. I am exactly one week post op, I started losing about a pound a day then I starting gaining a pound a day and now I am right back to my pre-surgery weight. I'm so frustrated. I have no problems getting in all my liquids and protein, I track my calories and gett anywhere from 600- 900 calories a day. I'm on full liquids, I have not cheated, but I also have no restriction, I can easily finish the whole container of yogurt when I eat. Any advice

    Doctor Prescribed Shakes

They can refuse you as a patient, doctors are very strict about pre-op diets and protein shakes are expensive, you will likely spend that on a two week supply anyways of something else so I wouldn't refuse, especially if are past the hoops and to the pre- op diet phase.

    Doctor Prescribed Shakes

My doctor required that I buy a certain brand which I could purchase from them or buy online and mine cost 150

    Mental Illness & WLS

I have severe depression and a severe anxiety disorder with PTSD, I was cleared for surgery, I also have a long history of being hospitalized for my conditions. But it ha been nearly two years since I was hospitalized and I have been through a ton of therapy, the psychologist just wanted to see that I was now stable on my Meds and not being hospitalized all the time and he asked for a letter of recommendation from my psychiatrist. But I had my surgery last Monday dec 5
  11. I was sleeved on Monday dec 5 , since then I have had no problems getting all my fluids and proteins in at all. I don't feel full and I don't have any trouble swallowing. I eat cream of wheat for breakfast , a protein shake for snack, a cream soup for lunch another protein shake for snack and usually some more soup for dinner with some unflavored protein powder in it. If I want I may have some yogurt or pudding later in the evening. Is this too much? I don't feel uncomfortably full at all, I don't really feel a restriction when eating although I am measuring my portions to stay on plan, I just see all these people having all the problems and only getting in like 400 calories where I am easily getting in 700-900 calories a day. Help am I doing something wrong?
  12. Well surgery was yesterday. I am still in the hospital for now with a little nausea and a whole lot of pain, I'm jus glad the surgery part is overwith!

    Surgery yesterday

I have not a whole lot of walking and that has helped with the gas pain but not the stomach pain or the incision pain, so the doctor prescribed dilaudid today for me to go home on since that is working much better

    Why am I always hungry?

Sorry I meant to reply under there. You should take your PPI for up to a year following surgery

    Why am I always hungry?

That's a thought, I stopped taking my prilosec, maybe I should start them up again. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using the BariatricPal App
  16. My dr does full liquids from the moment you are home, so I have creamed soups to strain, sf pudding and pinkos triple zero yogurt stocked up for at least the first week. My surgery is tomorrow. Dec 5

    December 2016?

Yes my surgery is on Monday the 5th

    Only one?

Mine is on Monday is Phoenix Az
  19. I am on day 7 of my 2 week pre-op diet, I did well the first three days of the diet, then I did extremely bad for three days while I was extremely busy and stressed out and I admit I just completely threw the diet out the window for those three days, I was supposed to be on all liquids, and I did more than just eat solid foods, I ate fast food for most of those three days, now I feel awful about it and I feel like I have sabotaged my surgery, I don't know what I can do other than be good for the rest of the diet because if I postpone the surgery then it probably won't be in the month of December and then my insurance is changing so I would have to go through approval all over again, so I feel like all I can do is be good for the full second week and one day left before surgery. Surgery is a week from Monday. Is one week even enough time to make my liver ok for surgery?

    Cheated on Pre-Op Diet

@@LipstickLady thank you for your reply, yes I have a counselor, I have not talked to my doctor yet, but I am afraid that he will want to reschedule the surgery which could make me have to go through the approval process all over again with it being so late in the year and my insurance changing. Yes I do feel that I am ready for the surgery, I have been preparing for months, I just got sidetracked with some extreme circumstances this week. I would never do anything after surgery to jeopardize my safety by going off the prescribed diet I know how dangerous it is. But thank you for reminding me of the severity of my lack in judgement this week.
  21. Actually I will be on my pre-op diet on Thanksgiving this year so I am opting to not go to the family Thanksgiving this year to avoid the temptation, I know if I go I will give in to mash potatoes and gravy.
  22. I had a hysterectomy last year and take hormones because of that. I get extremely depressed without the hormones and I have a history of severe depression. So I never even thought about it but was surprised to find that I had to stop taking my hormones 1 month prior to surgery, I found out 1 day before I had to stop taking them when I was reading over my packet from the surgeon again. So I reluctantly stopped taking them. My surgery is Dec 5 but my depression is already growing worse by the day, I'm not sure what to do

    Trolls

To be honest I don't understand what all the big fuss is about, I replied to the OP in earnest and asked why he did something so dangerous and then posted it in a joking tone and even though I wanted to call him some choice names at the time I refrained from doing so. My surgery is on Dec 5 and if I do something so stupid and life threatening I sure hope someone hands me some tough love rather than coddles me.
  24. Ok so let me just preface this by saying I am pre-op still, but I can't say that I really understand, I mean you write that post like it was some joke, that it was somehow funny that you tried to eat that so early post op, it's really not that funny. Do you know why it caused you so much pain? Because it's actually dangerous for you to be eating like that right now. I mean what would possess you to do that? I'm just curious because the dangers of not following the proper stages of eating post op scare me so I think I would be too scared and I definitely wouldn't joke about it

How long will this process take?

I think it all depends on what your insurance and your doctor requires because my insurance didn't require any medically supervised weight loss so I didn't have to do the standard 3-6 months of weight loss tracking. My first appointment was on Sep 9 and my surgery is on Dec 5, I could of had it the second week of November but there were some scheduling conflicts, so for me less than 3 months
