So i dropped a lot of weight in my pre op diet but since surgery I seem to be dropping 1-2 lbs per day. Did anyone else do this in the beginning. I had surgery nov 22 my highest weight was 289. Before surgery I was 264. After surgery from swelling and fluids I was 272. I'm now at 250!!!! Not even two weeks post op!!

Okay I know this sounds ludicrous but every time I belch which since having surgery is a lot lol, But anyways i seem to get this faint Clorox or chlorine taste when I do so. As a nurse I have never heard of this let alone experience it. Has anyone else had this problem. And we do not have city Water we have well water or I would just have chalked it up to be my water maybe. But that can't be it!!! ANYONE ELSE??? Lost!!!

With all do respect if it's not on ur list of recommended foods or ur diet plan it shld not be being ate. This list is a prescription not just a recommendation for someone to follow if they fill like it. They give these stages of foods to follow so that you don't hurt urself. Think of it in a way of a newborn baby would you give them popcorn on a new stomach?? If not then why would u give this too ur new stomach that is still healing inside? Wish you all the best moving forward and I hope this makes you think some before eating something not on ur list. Just trying to help you from injury!! Best wishes!!!

yea I'm shocked that a de would allow it that early I'm not allowed popcorn till around 6 months either.I wasn't allowed popcorn for 6 months because the staple line isn't fully healed until about that point and one shard of kernel wedged in could cause a leak on an abscess. No seeds or strawberries (seeds) or any other food with sharp or teeny particles was allowed for the same reason.
No amount of popcorn is worth that risk IMO. 3-5 weeks out? :faint:

Thanks so much!!! That's why I post is bc pre op I read so many post op stories 95% of them about bad pain or gas or nausea or regret or depression ETC. I didn't see many positive stories and I am a positive success no complications story and want people to know everything can go wonderful with very little pain. Best wishes.

Went to see surgeon today they are very happy with my progress surgeon said out of all the surgeries he has done he had never seen a patient do as well as I have and was shocked when he came to check in on me and seen me up sitting in a chair and not laying in bed on the day of my surgery. And he had never had a patient go back to work 3 days post op. He said I have been a model patient. I told him I feel wonderful and have more energy then my husband even the day I came home. My weight started at 289. I was 264 on day of surgery. 274 after surgery bc of fluids and swelling. Today I weighed 254. So I'm down a total of 35 lbs. best news of it all stage two diet. After 4 weeks of nothing but liquids I was so ready!!! SCRAMBLED eggs NEVER TASTED SO GOOD. two bites and I was stuffed like I went to a buffet. LOVED IT!!! Tomorrow I'm making ricotta bake!!! I have had no regret no buyers remorse. No emotional outbursts. I've never felt so alive and happy over a surgical procedure.

wondering why are you house bound at 4 weeks post op? I had rny and was discharged with in 24 hrs. And had surgery on a Tuesday went back to work that same Friday. Hope things get better. I'm not gunna repeat the other things everyone else already said pretty much everything else for me?!I'm not supposed to be on Protein bars till 12 weeks. Just realized today that I'm not supposed to have onions! Thought that was on my list . I was so tired this morning I had to sit at the stove just to cook my Breakfast. I can already eat 4 oz of food and I will be 4 weeks Monday. I'm trying to contact a dietician today! Idk what else to do. Just tired all the time, but WANT to go out. Then, because I am housebound, the cravings kick in! At least it feels that way.

Yes I felt full on mine my liquid diet never bothered me I cooked for my family the entire two weeks. I wasn't miserable or moody or depressed nothing. And it's hard to meet the 1200 for most diets they just don't want u to exceed the 1200 calories. Atleast that's how it was for mine. Gl
