  1. I survived by early bedtimes at night....literally gave myself an excuse to go to bed some nights by 7:30p, helped get me through it. Plus I figured a rested body will surely heal better after surgery than a tired one!

Says the newbie who has no idea what they are talking about.
She was talking about the OP saying that she was using popsicles as her new way to cope with needing to chew. No need to jump all over her.
yes maybe go back and re read what I wrote previously newbie or not I'm a nurse and went to college for many years and have a degree. I was simply talking about the pops!!

  3. The surgery is a choice the post op diet is a prescription to be taken as directed just like all other prescriptions. What happens if you are told to take two pain pills and u decide too take the whole bottle you can die right? So maybe think about that before doing things outside of ur ordered and prescribed diet!! It's not a joke and it's not to play around with. I highly suggest you talk to your NUT and maybe see a therapist to figure out coping techniques. Please don't do this. Gl with the rest of ur journey. And best wishes. Just remember mind over matter. It's mostly mental.

  4. Feeling great is one thing but u need to understand ur stomach is not heeled just think of it like a new born baby they only have fluids bc they're stomached can't handle anything but fluids. If a baby was to have a piece of chewed food they can choke bc it can slide down and choke them if this slides down it can cause severe damage even though u feel great ur tummy isn't healed so please watch doing this. Also it could cause eating disorders if U get used to that satisfying your appetite. You could potentially being doing more harm then anything.

  6. That's what I'm thinking I have everything pretty much prepared and staying on top of laundry did all heavy cleaning and organized all my cupboards had everything done even up to now in case once I start my diet I was low on energy so I think that we be OK unless it's a major heart surgery but I feel it's probably gunna be putting stints in.

  7. Thanks and to me my health isn't as bad I have fibromyalgia high blood pressure degenerative disc disease. My blood preassure is medicine control for most days. But his mom and Dad live next door as well so they are saying they can help out when needed and as you said our kids all all pretty much self sufficient. But if my husband has surgery usually he always ends up with complications in every surgery he has ever had. And that's where I'm worried. But I have always done great with surgeries so hoping to bounce right back after a few days. I will know a lot more of what's going on hopefully by this afternoon. I'm just one of those people that always puts everything and everyone first that's just my nature.

  8. So I'm supposed to start my liquid diet tomorrow for my surgery on the 22nd!! My husband went in the hospital Saturday with heart complications and a gall stone to top it off. They said the gall bladder is an outpatient surgery that they will schedule before he leaves the hospital. He sees the cardiologist this morning sometime and may have to have heart surgery. My dad and his parents are both telling not to post pone my surgery but we have three kids ages 14...11.... & 7. We can't both be laid up. I just really feel his is more serious and mine can wait where they feel my health is serious to and it shouldn't be put off. Just don't know what to do. I will find out more information today after he see the cardiologist.

  11. No sugar free ice cream. Stay away from that. It contains dairy and when on liquid diet you are restricted to just pure Clear Liquids. Also the fact you tried pudding is not good. I know the frustration because we all have gone thru it but it will get better. You are only a couple days post op. Hang in there..
