    Weight loss ticker

After I go to the top right and click on my name, I just get whatever generic profile I originally made. Ticker isn't an option and it doesn't allow me to edit anything. I feel illiterate lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Confessions of a good girl gone bad...

I am where you are in terms of excess emotions. EVERYTHING makes me cry. Songs on the radio, commercials, every time someone wins a damn Olympic medal...or gets defeated. It's ridiculous. Someone said being overly emotional - bitchy, hangry, sad, whatever - comes from your fat cells releasing estrogen into your body making you a hormonal mess. I figure that's the issue. Plus we miss real food and are dealing with the healing process. I think we're allowed to feel however we feel right now. Acknowledge it and give yourself a free pass on this one. We've been through enough. Time to just focus on Protein, fluids and Vitamins. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  4. My objection to that is that everything you do engages your core - ESPECIALLY after surgery when you're weak and can't isolate particular muscle groups from one another... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Pre-Op diet help

Your NUT should have given you diet guidelines. Did you not receive them? There were no recipes on my diet...it was full liquids. 64oz Water, 3-4 Protein shakes a day that must be under 160 cals with at least 18g of protein (I used Premier Protein) and unlimited green vegetables, chicken broth, sugar free Jello, and sugar free popsicles. Hope that helps. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. I worked out with heavy weights (for a girl) my entire life prior to surgery. My surgeon said I could go back to normal cardio at 6 weeks, but absolutely no weight training until 12 weeks out b/c the lining of your stomach has not fully healed. Be careful! I hope you're lifting light. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Surgery in Mexico

Have to chime in for Dr. Ortiz too! Sleeved 7/22/16 and I'm from West Palm Beach! Dr. Ortiz is incredible, the facility is great, transportation easy, hotel is nice and surgery is a breeze! My surgery was 15 minutes!! My mom qualifies for surgery in the states through medicare and other insurance, and she's STILL going to Mexico to pay to have Dr. Ortiz! Post-Workout

I make friends with the regulars at the gym. They keep me accountable when they don't see me coming regularly. We tease each other and work out together. I like camaraderie and a little competition, so that's what keeps me motivated. I get too into the stories (Netflix/reading) which distracts me from my work out, so I wouldn't find that motivating. New shoes, work out clothes and a fresh playlist of pumping music helps too! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  12. @@jaysmm I weighed 173 pounds at surgery. I'm 5'6". I was sleeved 7/22 and at day 14 I was down 11 pounds. I'm on vacation right now so I'm not weighing, but I'm not worried. I know I'm losing bc I'm sticking to plan. You're too early after surgery to be concerned with loss. Your stomach is still super swollen and you're retaining fluids. The first two weeks post-op suck. You're sore, you're hungry, weight loss is iffy (for us low BMIers). But, stay positive. It gets WAY BETTER. I'm into my third week now. I just went to a Broadway show and enjoyed an early dinner. It was delicious. I ate the 2 oz of lobster and 3 spoonfuls of bisque. I was stuffed and happy and did NOT feel like I was missing out. Normally, on a vacation like this, I would have had said, "Becky, treat yo' self!" And had 3 glasses of wine, the bisque, a Pasta course and chocolate dessert. Did you really need the surgery? I don't know. That's a question for yourself. Only YOU know if you were going to keep creeping up the scale only to wind up with diabetes, high BP, etc... As for me, I'm the lowest weight/height ratio of anyone I've ever talked to or heard of so far that has been sleeved. But I KNOW I needed the surgery. The past week has been euphoria. Small portions, Protein first, no carbs. I can FINALLY end my disease of binge eating which is what was leading me to be completely unhealthy and would have had me at a BMI to qualify for surgery in no time. I say, be thankful you got to do it while you're young enough not to suffer from all the other things you might have eventually had to deal with. I also say to anyone telling low BMIers they didn't need the surgery to keep their opinion to themselves. Their negativity to someone POST OP is ridiculous. This is not something that's reversible. Everyone has their own reasons why they need this. I've lost all my weight on my own 15 times. I'm exhausted from dieting. This is a tool I needed. #noregrets You've got this. Get passed full liquids and you'll be fine. Weight loss will be slow. But it will be steady. This is isn't magic. It's a tool. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Started at 29 BMI

Holy moly!! I just had my first egg. I only made it halfway through eating it and I was full. I'm saving the rest to heat up later. I used to eat 2 eggs with pancakes and hashbrowns...maybe some toast!! #ILoveMySleeve Today is 15 days out from surgery. I weigh 162lbs. Down 11 pounds, 18 w/ pre-op. I weigh daily. I go down 1/10th of a percentage in bodyfat daily and after the initial 8 pound drop, I drop a pound about every 3rd day at this point. Really hoping to be 155 by the end of the month. That would be a one month loss of 18 pounds, total loss of 25lbs - which I think would be incredible for such a low BMI. Keep you posted! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Any ideas?

Very interesting. This diet is very heavily dairy influenced (if you want anything tasty), which is NOT healthy - fat free or not. I'm struggling with figuring out how I'm going to structure my meals without a heavy dairy influence. Let us know if cutting down dairy improves your next bloodwork. Help, please!

I'm doing a hair loss experiment with my surgery. Other than the first 2 days of Clear liquids, I've never consumed under 90g of Protein. Now I'm up to 100g and I won't go below that. I also got a keratin treatment 13 days post op (protein treatment for your hair). I'm taking all my Vitamins as prescribed. I'm also going to use olaplex conditioner daily to promote growth and stop breakage. I've got a few months to go to see if my experiment works or fails, but be assured I'll let you know then! Singles website match.com

Match is great. Been on it multiple times. I'm on it now, I'm just filtering people now until my liquids phase is over lol. Had a wonderful 3 year relationship with an attorney I met on it. We broke up because he ultimately wanted to spend most of his time overseas. We're still good friends. And then had a very serious, longterm relationship with a guy who owned a construction company. We broke up recently, due to family issues, but we lived together, were just about married, and were very much in love. Still not over this one . I had not so great experiences on there as well, but I'm - unfortunately- a professional online dater at this point, and eharmony was horrible, tinder is def just a hook up app, and plenty of fish isn't bad, but I like memberships that make you pay because I find these men are more serious. It depends how old you are too. I feel like match is for older 20's to 60's and there are better apps for different age groups. If you're jewish or christian, i have friends that have met their significant others and married from j date and christian mingle. That's my 2 cents! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. 2 weeks post-op. I get WAAYYY over 64oz of fluids in, but at this point I'm only getting 32-48oz of Water. Is the 64oz any Fluid or just water? Bc man. I hate water. I drank 12 diet cokes a day in my pre-surgery life and didn't even touch the clear, tasteless stuff. I know that's bad and full of chemicals, but can I sub Vitamin water zero for regular water? Or do I need to suck it up and drink the clear stuff? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  24. My plan says 1oz portions. I'm not supposed to start puree until tomorrow, but I tried a tiny bit of fat-free cottage cheese just now because well I'm a bad person, lol. 1 oz of cottage cheese was a joke. I felt no restriction. I could've easily eaten the entire 4oz container, just like I can down 4oz of drinkable yogurt. I imagine and hope pureed meat will go down differently. Hopefully I'll feel some restriction. 1 oz just seems insanely low. How am I supposed to get my Protein in? Eat 20 1oz portions a day?! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Not qualified for a surgery. Yet

I was BMI 29. Went to Mexico with Dr. Ortiz. I was sleeved 2 weeks ago with zero complications. I'm down 17lbs since pre-op Best decision I ever made & never looking back! Do NOT gain weight to get surgery. That's counterproductive to to your health. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
