    Rice after surgery

I had a tiny bit at twelve weeks, but I was out and my food choices were extremely limited. I was able to eat about two tablespoons with some chicken. I try to stay away from rice and Pasta because it doesn't fit into my food plan.

My horrible experience at a restaurant.

I can understand asking about the charge, I question anything on a receipt when I don't know what it is. Where I live a lot of place have a plate share charge on their menu. I always buy a meal and take home the leftovers.
  3. I have GERD, I take a pill once a day. I would much rather take that pill than be the 60 pounds heavier that I was. Also, I have very many family members that have had their gallbladders removed (aged 25-55) and none of them have had bariatric surgery. I know there is a chance of other complications, but that is a small chance that I was willing to take. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

    Time your eating

The rule at my surgeon's office is that you have to stop eating at 20 minutes (earlier if you are no longer hungry). You can not extend your meal time beyond the 20 minutes because they consider that "grazing".

    I don't want to weigh!

I weigh because I like to know where I stand every day. It takes a lot for me to lose a size so for me the scale is more effective at showing my progress. Do whatever makes you comfortable. If you want to weigh monthly or weekly or whatever it is, that's your choice.

    Age for surgery

That's awesome. I hope everything goes well for you.

    Food Logs

I also use myfitnesspal, it is so easy to scan the foods and I haven't had any problem keeping track this way.

    Catheter

My surgeon doesn't use catheters or drains. I was so relieved when they told me that. I know I would have had surgery either way, but it was just one little thing that made me feel better.
  9. My meals are only supposed to last 20 minutes, so no.
  10. I couldn't get out of bed except to go to the bathroom or get drinks for the first four days home. I was so exhausted. I didn't have any surgery pain, gas, or anything like that, I was just tired. Then on the fifth day I felt much more human and I started to function. I hope you are feeling better soon.

    Post op foods

I eat stuffed peppers with cauliflower rice instead of rice. It is one of my favorite post op meals.
  12. The only things I used in the hospital were underwear/pajamas, toothbrush and hairbrush, chapstick, and biotene mouth spray. My mouth was so dry and the chapstick and mouth spray were life savers. Everything else that went with me stayed in my bag.

    Meal prepping

Are you on regular foods or still soft?

    Confused about the pains!

I had no gas pain, was able to sleep on my sides in the hospital and my only post surgery complaint was that I was extremely tired for 4-5 days and could barely get out of bed. My only real pain was that while I was in the hospital I had a terrible back ache (I assume from the way I was positioned during surgery and in recovery), but by the next day when I was home that was better.
  15. I cut out rice and pasta about three months before surgery and I started to cut out bread about a month before. I haven't had trouble sticking to my plan because after the protein there just isn't much room.

    12 week victories!

    Great accomplishments!

    Still can't wear jeans.

I was able to wear jeans from the first week, but my incisions are above my waistline (one in my belly button), so they aren't touched by the jeans.
  18. I am almost six weeks out and I reach my goal of 70grams of protein daily. I have one Premier Protein shake and the rest comes from food.

    How many Incisions

I have five. Three are very small and will probably totally go away, one is in/above my navel, and one is slightly larger to the left of my navel and will probably be the only on that will be an actual scar. Right now they are very light and I am only three weeks post surgery.
  20. My local grocery store carries the fairlife milk. It comes in half gallon containers right by the regular milk.

    It's so hard

Are you on a prescription for reflux? Feeling hungry is a sign of reflux and feeling it at night is common because you can have more reflux if you are laying flat.
  22. I lost for about nine days, then bounced back and forth a pound for about nine days, now am back to losing. I am definitely losing inches, it is just my body adjusting.
  23. Cottage cheese is high in protein and you could buy fairlife milk which tastes like regular milk and has added protein. Good luck. I don't really understand why your foods need to be blended this far before surgery, but like you said every doctor has their own plan.
  24. The only things I used in the hospital were my undies and pajamas, chapstick, Biotene mouth spray, and hair and tooth brushes. Everything else that I brought was never used.

    Leak test

My sleeve was tested in the or before they closed me up. I didn't need the leak test that some people have on day two.
