    One step back

Today was supposed to be a joyish day for me, but instead it turned out to be filled with stress and sadness. Today was my last appointment before all my medical information can be sent to my insurance company for approval. Unfourtenaly things didn't go as planned. So a couple of months ago I had insurance through my employer and BCBS FEP became my secondary insurance. Well, I no longer have that insurance and it was terminated July 31st when I left the company. So since then I have been going to the doctors and realized that my claims were being denied because BCBS stated that I still had another insurance plan. So I called a couple of weeks to get this issue resolved. Fast forward today while I was walking to my car after the appointment it dawned on me that BCBS was still denying my claims after I called to informed them that I no longer have that plan. I called once I got in the car because something told me this might be an issue and I need them to get the ball rolling. So I call today thinking that this would be something they could do instantly or maybe like a day or two. The rep told me no it takes about 3-5 days for their system to update. I am scheduled for surgery on the 13th. That means BCBS will only have about 3-5 to approve my cause if not less than that. This really sucks. I thought everything was moving in the right direction now I am stumped. Has anyone else dealt with this issue before?

@Djmohr, I called my insurance company this morning to follow up on the request. The rep that I spoke with told me that my file has been updated and there shouldn't be a problem with my doctors office submitting the authorization. After I hung with her I called my doctors office to inform them and I was so happy when the receptionist told me that my authorization was already submitted yesterday. Here I am working myself up. Finger crossed I get an approval within next week.

@@Djmohr I am hoping that once they clear up the information with the other insurance it won't take long for them to approve it! Thank you guys for your feedback and support. I'm feeling somewhat better about everything. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

@@LisaMergs I don't think that they submitted the information because the coordinator called to try and get an authorization, but I am assuming was unable to do so because she called me to inform me of what was going on, which in turned made me call my insurance company once more. I don't think she was able to get an authorization done at this point.

8/31 tomorrow is the big day.

Congratulations to the both of you! Keep us posted! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. Im glad I'm not the only one. My fiancé and I both tried it out and he even thought it was disgusting. So if he doesn't like it then I know it's bad. I'm going to try mixing the power with a banana and some Blueberries. Is that even allowed? lol I had a really hard time with the powders... I definitely preferred the premade ones like Premier. The powder ones just always tasted chalky or gritty to me, now matter how much i blended them. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Any Sept. surgeries?

    September 13th here!
  9. I've been weighing myself before hand. So I was dropping weight as well prior to me starting the liquid diet today. I guess I should've made myself more clear. Lol How do you know the weight Is coming off. You just started the pre op today? Sent from my SM-G901F using the BariatricPal App Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. I started my liquid diet today and ugh I think I got the wrong Protein powder. It was horrible, but I am going to be diligent. I have no room for error. The weight is coming off slowly but surely. I don't see how people can last 3 weeks. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. Thanks @@KristenLe and @crystals86. I was thinking the same thing. Bad thing about it is that I only have a 3 days required liquid diet per my surgeon. Can I ask you ladies how your typical day looks on a liquid diet. Like what do you consume and how much and how often? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  12. Congrats everyone on your dates! I am nervous because my surgeon wants me to be 330 and I just got back from my vacation to come home and find out I gained a little bit of weight. Now I need to lose 13 pounds before September 1st. I am nervous I won't be able to. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. You're not missing out on anything milk based. I don't know if I am lucky or maybe it's a bad thing. My surgeon only required a 3 day pre op diet. I guess that's why so many patients lose weight prior to surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  14. I understand I would feel that way too if it was September 1st. You will be fine. You have more than enough time to get over your nervousness. Where are you having your surgery at and what kind are you having? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I hope so... Pretty nervous, but am hoping for the best. Right now I am just trying to learn as much as I can. Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Yay! Congrats your surgery is on my birthday! 16. Congratulations! Getting that letter in the mail must be the best feeling in the world. This week has been a really long week. I wish I could rest up this weekend, but unfortunately I work. 17. Of course the more the merrier! I think everyone has that issue once they hey their date. At least that seems to be my issue. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  18. @@CrystalS86, I saw a video on how the procedure was done and I was like, "yeah that's too much moving and cutting and retracing I will pass". Lol I think if I lose 80-90% of my excess weight I might be too small. I think between 70-80% is a good amount of weight loss. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  19. @@CrystalS86 I am that way too with Vitamins. I have a very short memory when it comes to taking vitamins. But I'm improving so that's always a plus I've old missed 2 days lol. So intrigued now about this issue with the bathroom and the smell. Lol do tell. that's how I felt about the sleeve too. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  20. @@Melanie89, I too went through this process just about 3 years ago. Paid $200 to see the nut just to only go one visit. Paid $40 to see the psychologist. Let's not forget the copays. After that I decided I didn't want to get the surgery and I was going to lose weight on my own. I was too concerned about what people around me thought about the surgery so chose not to go through with it. I felt like if I got the surgery I was taking the "easy way out" like people in my surroundings were saying. I'm not surprised about having to wait so long especially since it's free. I would hate to have to wait that long. I've only had to do a 3 month supervised nut visit. So I've only been waiting for 3 months you can say. I didn't even know Paris had s Disney world. can you tell I don't get out much? Lol I never left the east coast. Florida will be the furthest I've ever traveled and my first time on a plane. Thank you dear I hope we have fun too. This will be the first and last time traveling while heavy. I hope you guys enjoy yourselves as well. I live in Maryland. 21. @@CrystalS86 I never even thought about the DS. All I knew was gastric bypass, the infamous lap ban, and the sleeve. The DS just looks too complicated for my liking. I was a little bit on the fence about the gastric bypass because I didn't like the idea of me being all cut up internally, but I've seen too many complications with the sleeve where patients had to have a revision to bypass. The sleeve was my first choice, but I choose the gastric bypass for the longevity and the amount of weight I need to lose. Not to say I wouldn't be successful with the sleeve, but I need to lose more weight than I am "assuming" the sleeve won't be able to provide for me. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. It depend on where I go. I could potentially have a higher out of pocket expense if I don't go to a "center of excellence". So basically I have to pay my deductible for the year before I can get the surgery done. I believe my deductible is 350 but I also have to pay 350 for the hospital stay. So $700 in Total. Not including other expenses. Lucky you! Did you have a waiting period before you got approved for surgery? Lol I haven't been to Florida yet, but August 15th my fiancé and I is finally going to Disney world for the first time lol. I don't mind the cold unless it's like forty below zero lol. 23. Yes, I'm from the USA. I'm going through my insurance company. I have always wanted to visit London. Maybe one day! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  24. Oh okay. So similar to me. I need to lose about 180-200 pounds for my height. Which can be accomplished. Which procedure are you getting? I dont mind at all, to be in a healthy weight range I have about 222 pounds to lose...but I just want to get to about 180 so still 200 pounds. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  25. Aw thanks Melanie! Congratulations on the weight loss. That 1lb won't be a thing to lose! That is what I keep telling myself whenever I feel down or I don't have to energy to keep pushing. We got this! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
