  1. Charliewt216: I had my RNY 9 hrs ago & have had very little pain (nothing but Tyelnol since PACU). It

just hurts when I sit up, using my abs. My throat is a little raw from the endotracheal tube, too. I've had zero nausea, & have already drunk 108 oz. of water/protein shakes.< /p>

I thought it would be nice to hear a non-scary story. You might come out of surgery a lot better than you thought, like I did.

Hope all goes well for you.

  2. Don't worry-you've got this.

I just had my RNY 9 hours ago & my pain is about a1 or 2 out of ten. Mostly sore throat from being intubated & pain when using abdominal muscles to sit up. No nausea, & I've had 108 ounces of water/protein shake already.

I feel WAY better than I anticipated, reading the posts on this forum. So maybe you'll be lucky like me!. (I had lots of people praying for me, & I was anointed w/ Oil of Unction at my church-maybe that's what did it. :)

  3. Here I am 6 hours post-op in very little pain, have only mild nausea (not requiring Zofran,) & I have already drunk 39 oz of water! I was so scared this morning. I have not had any pain meds but Tylenol since PACU. I hope some people out there will read this msg that surgery may not be as scary as other posters have made it out to be! Boy, am I lucky!

  4. Under the General Weight Loss Forum, subforum General Weight Loss Surgery Discussion, there is a thread re: the "official" list of what to pack for surgery. It is 38 pages long! Although it was started in 2010, there are more recent posts, too. It took me hours to go through it, but I learned ALOT.

    Hope this helps.

My RNY is Monday, & I've almost finished packing & preparing food for my family, cleaning house, paying bills, etc. Whew!

  5. I'm new to post here, been reading for a while.

I'm nervous, too-my surgery is in 4 days (7/18). I appreciate the previous posters' words of encouragement & support. Reading the old post (2013) of what to bring to the hospital was really helpful. I, too, have pored over all the youtube videos re: RYGB. I think I'm as prepared as possible.

Now I guess it'll be hot baths & good music for me, waiting until THE day.
