  1. I was wondering if there are any others out there who are brand new too. So far I think I'm doing great. Haven't vomited at all and have only had a few bouts with nausea. Those were a result of the pain meds completely wearing off while I was sleeping... What a way to wake up. Does anyone have any tips on getting rid of the rest of the gas? I still have some shoulder pain and an occasional sharp pain in my left side (feels like a stitch I sometimes get from running). Also, they recommended Colace to start my bowels back up... But nothing yet... Or since Saturday.... Advice? Thank you in advance:) b

My surgery was the 19th of July. Walking walking and walking helps tremendously with gas. I never had gas bad or in my shoulders because I got up and walked as soon as they took me to my room.

I was only on pain meds for 2.5 days because I realized how crucial walking was.

I had no vomiting or nausea, buy my doctor throws out all the stops to make sure that didn't happen.

If you were sent home with a tummy binder, wear it all the time because it really does help.

Collace is great. Remember it's a stool softener, it doesn't make you go. It took me 5 days to poop and now I'm going pretty regular.

Congrats on your sleeve and good luck on your journey. We're all here for each other.

  2. Hi everyone, I was sleeved on the 19th of July. I've been doing really well. I've already lost 30 pounds since doing the 2 week liquid diet and the surgery. This was by far the best decision for me. I've increased my walking distance evey couple days, so I'm up to 2 miles and I've managed to get a Protein and a half in a day.

My question is how are you all getting your protein in? I can't go on puree until day 20 and I'm looking forward to some chicken and salmon and humus and cottage cheese.

Any suggestions? I use the Premier Protein so that makes part of it easy.... , looking for something else.

Hello everyone I'm new here, I'm 3 days post op and I'm having a terrible time with gas, no matter how slow I sip my fluids, or how much I walk I cannot get rid of it, I'm still in the hospital and they even gave me some liquid gas drop which didn't help at all but it did make me vomit! Please share with me what you guys did to make the gas go away, IM DESPERATE!

If you have a slight fever, sounds like you need to be calling your doctor. Gas is one thing, but fever is another issue.

  4. I've been on my peo-op diet since this past Tuesday. I have surgery on the 19th. My pre-op diet consists of three Protein shakes a day with skim milk or light soy milk, I use Rutein for the Protein. I can have up to 2 cups of lettuce or spinach or greens. That's cooked or regular.

1 light yogurt a day 6oz. 1 cup of sugar free Jello, coffee and tea with no sugar, honey etc...

And up to 2 cups of low sodium chicken broth or beef broth a day.

Sounds like everyone has something a little different. Guess is dependent on the doc.
