  1. It depends on your team. Everyone has different instructions. I could have it straight away. There are some people who think it's a diuretic but it's not if you drink it regularly. I have 1-2 cups a day. I'm 6 months post op. Sent from my SM-G935F using the BariatricPal App

    Anyone in the UK?

In fact, if you Google st George's healthcare bariatric page they have a really good post op food plan which is very similar to the one I was given. It just makes more sense and is easy to follow. Sent from my SM-G935F using the BariatricPal App

They absolutely are. My dieticians want me to eat a balanced diet from all food groups instead of focusing on Proteins. I don't have to stick to everything low fat. So I eat what I want. Just very small portions. I am still careful though. Luckily I lost my sweet tooth post op so I've had no chocolate/ Cake etc in 6 months. That has definitely helped! I've never really done them tbh. I make the odd smoothie using optimum nutrition gold standard but that's all. The team don't really advocate Protein powders. I manage to get plenty of protein from milk, meats, eggs etc. I also love the Skyr strawberry yoghurt. They're high protein and great for Snacks. Sent from my SM-G935F using the BariatricPal App

Get your Vitamins in for after surgery. The Centrum chewable are nice initially post op. Don't get forceval soluble off your GP- they made me vomit and the dietician said she doesn't know anyone who has tolerated them!! I went on the normal forceval tablets at around 2 months post op - they're huge and quite difficult to swallow so couldn't get them down at first! Sent from my SM-G935F using the BariatricPal App

I've been great too. I was I hospital 3 days post op with severe nausea. But that's me with general anaesthetic anyway. I'm always the same! I had absolutely no pain. I followed my post op plan to the letter and I've had no food I tolerances and I haven't found anything I can't eat! I think it's been brilliant. I've been tired a lot but my bloods are fine. Thinks it's sometimes due to lack of calories. But I'd do it again tomorrow. X Sent from my SM-G935F using the BariatricPal App

That's a shame but tbh I don't think it would have changed your mind. I see preop patients every day and it's very rare they change their minds when they are told the risks. Just as I didn't preop when I knew what could happen. Even death!! It's human nature to ignore the risks and take the "it will never happen to me" stance. Hope you get sorted with your team. No I haven't been to any of the meetings. Like you said there have been cancellations. I find it handy to have everyone at the end of the phone/ email but tbh I haven't really had anything I needed them for. I'm due my 6 months bloods this week then follow up in 2 weeks. They've been great. Hope you're doing OK x Sent from my SM-G935F using the BariatricPal App

A quick search in Google for "complications following sleeve gastrectomy" gives a whole list of post op potential problems. Why on earth didn't you see this preop Gina? It honestly baffles me. I had 6 weeks between my initial consultation and surgery and I found all these things out in that time. I just don't understand how, with all the time you had, you didn't even know about gallbladder issues. Sent from my SM-G935F using the BariatricPal App
  12. I'm in the UK. I wasn't given a goal but I'm 6 months out and emailed my surgeon this week. He said I'd lost 54% of my excess weight and if I'm careful for the next 6 I could reach 100%. At my preop appointment I was told to expect a 60% excess weight loss in 18 months. Sent from my SM-G935F using the BariatricPal App

Thanks for that. I've tried replacing 2 of my daytime Snacks with extra fluids and it seems to be working. I haven't been hungry. I'm just a bit worried that my portion sizes are so small my calorie intake will go down again. I'll just try different foods. ???? Sent from my SM-G935F using the BariatricPal App

Hi DubDo you manage to get all your protein/ calories in 3 meals? I've been on 3 meals and 3 snacks a day until this week. I'm 6 months out and my surgeon said things will slow down now so I'm trying 3 meals plus 1 snack but I can eat only such small portion sizes I'm struggling a little. Any advice is appreciated x Sent from my SM-G935F using the BariatricPal App

And my point is proved! Sent from my SM-G935F using the BariatricPal App My bariatric team admit that none of my problems were created by my actions. I monitored my temperature every day post op. I was in telephone contact with the hospital from the moment my temperature spiked. I presented to the post surgical ward continuously. I followed up continously or I would be dead now. No one followed up with ME! I did contract c dif from the NHS healthcare system, an abscess did form that should not have, serious errors were made and the PALs system here agree and are going to try to work on my behalf to better my care and others. I am not the only one. If it bothers you that I think "some" people could lose more weight naturally, that's your problem. Check out "people's" pre op diet weight loss stats. I do NOT blame my surgeon. I DO think the NHS should review my LOCAL hospital's bariatric, post op and c dif care regimes. Hair loss

Mine fell out from the beginning. I'm 6 months now and it's slowed down and I've got new growth. I colour mine myself every 6 weeks. It hasn't made a difference. I take zinc and selenium supplements and use nioxin shampoo and conditioner. Sent from my SM-G935F using the BariatricPal App

At the end of the day Gina doesn't want any advice or help from us. I tried weeks ago to give advice but she just becomes aggressive/ defensive and downright rude. Not being funny Gina but you need some serious help. Mentally. You need some counselling. You think I'm on the side of the NHS but in one of my first posts I told you to take it further. Your trust pays millions every year in insurance policies for people who try and sue. Get a solicitor if you think it's the fault of the hospital. Get a second opinion. Go to a different hospital. Do anything you can but PLEASE STOP having a go at people who are only trying to help!!! Sent from my SM-G935F using the BariatricPal App
