    Coffeeeee

coffee is not really a diuretic if you drink it regularly as your kidneys adjust to it. In fact I find it more of a laxative so I have one every morning to help get things going! I was allowed it from the start post op but I actually went off it for the first 4 months. I'm back on 1-2 cups a day now - like anything it should be taken in moderation. Shots?

Yes I had them. They're easy. Don't worry if you have them. Ideally anyone having this kind of surgery with a BMI over 30 or another comorbidity is in a higher risk category and should have at least stockings +/- injections. I'm in the UK so things might be different here. Sent from my SM-G935F using the BariatricPal App

    Anyone in the UK?

Professor Basil Amorri. He was brilliant. Surgery was about 25 mins. I was in 3 days post op with nausea but I'm not good generally with anaesthetic. I had a query a couple of days ago so I emailed him direct and he responded within 10 mins. The staff on the ward were fantastic. In particular a nurse called Andrea who was ?Russian. I would do it again there tomorrow. Hope you have an equally positive experience. Sent from my SM-G935F using the BariatricPal App

Great. Right on track. 6 months today I had my op and I'm 6 stone down. Trying to cut down a little now as the next 6 months will be harder according to my surgeon. Suppose I'd better start exercising! Sent from my SM-G935F using the BariatricPal App

    Anyone in the UK?

Yes my hair loss has been quite bad but I was lucky it was quite thick to start. I've been taking zinc and selenium from boots and I've been using nioxin shampoo and conditioner. It's used for chemotherapy patients. It's expensive but I think it's worth it. I've got lots of new growth x Sent from my SM-G935F using the BariatricPal App

Hiya. Well done on reaching goal so soon!! Yes things are very different over here. I wasn't given Protein goals either...just told to eat a healthy balanced diet. Same with Protein shakes etc. Never needed them. Where did you have your surgery? Sent from my SM-G935F using the BariatricPal App

    6 months post op

Thanks. It's been such a good journey. I'm in work today but did finally splash out on clothes last weekend. Felt so good!!! Sent from my SM-G935F using the BariatricPal App What all have you done with your sleeve to help lose? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the BariatricPal App Tbh I've just followed my food plan to the letter. I keep my calories under 1000 a day but I don't count carbs or Protein. I just have a varied diet. I still eat small portions and eat until I'm satisfied rather than full. I get around 2.5 litres of Fluid a day. I lost my sweet tooth and have had no alcohol. I admit I haven't yet done any exercise apart from walks with my dogs. I plan to start soon as I know the weight loss will slow down from now. Sent from my SM-G935F using the BariatricPal App

  14. I'd rather follow my surgeon and dieticians advice. I had chewable ones as advised for the first 6 weeks with no problems. They just melted in the mouth. They're readily available in our local pharmacies. The forceval are then on prescription only . They're very strong and cannot be bought over the counter or online. HUNGRY!

My dietician actually told me I could get jars of baby food. It's only for a couple of weeks so doesn't really matter. Sent from my SM-G935F using the BariatricPal App

    Two Weeks to Go!

Hi snannapuss His team have been great. They told me not to worry about getting going in so soon post op. I promise it will get easier. I can easily get 2.5 litres a day in now plus 6 small meals! Just keep sipping and try and stay hydrated. I emailed the prof directly last night and he answered within 5 mins. I love that I can have that contact when I need it but tbh I've hardly needed them. Sailed through each stage. I founded each time I went to the next food stage I could eat less as the textures filled me up quickly. I was off work 8 weeks just due to lack of energy. I was so tired. Think it was simply lack of calories. You'll get there x Sent from my SM-G935F using the BariatricPal App

    Two Weeks to Go!

Don't blame you. I wasn't brave enough to travel abroad as I'm not good with anaesthetic. I was in 3 days with nausea. It was expensive but I think it's already been worth it. Sent from my SM-G935F using the BariatricPal App

  21. Forceval is a Multivitamin. It's prescription only. I'm not sure if they are for life or just the 1st 2 years. I'm going to check with my surgeon when I email him later and I'll let you know. I'll take a pic of my discharge letter and post it for you to use x Sent from my SM-G935F using the BariatricPal App

I'm in Manchester. Sleeved 26th Feb. Sent from my SM-G935F using the BariatricPal App
  23. Thanks. I am. It's been a breeze. If you need me to let you know what bloods you'll need doing and when just let me know. Get some Vitamins in to start 2-3 weeks post op. They gave me forceval but they're too big initially and the dispersable made me sick. Get Centrum advanced chewable. They're nice. Then asap get your GP to prescribe you forceval and arrange vit B12 injection from 3 months post op. Every 3 months for 2 years. Good luck. X Sent from my SM-G935F using the BariatricPal App
  24. Where in the UK are you? I'm near Manchester. I had mine privately in Manchester. If you Google St George's healthcare trust bariatric surgery they have a really good post op food plan you can download. I used that as well as my surgeon and dieticians info. Are you just under your GP for post op care/ bloods/ follow up etc? You can message me anything you need to know. You're doing fine. Don't worry. The weight will come off. I'm 6 months post op on Friday and 6 stone lost. I don't follow Protein guidelines etc as in the UK they don't seem to follow them as rigidly as the US.
