    What is ONEDERLAND?

I hope it's under 200 lbs! I've been looking forward to that day! If it's under size 10, then even thin I will not be there! lol

    Banded 5/22 and need support

It has been 5 wks today since I was banded. I was off work 2 wks...then a couple days after I went back I woke up feeling sick and hurting and had to call off. I sort of think 1/2 days back the first week would have been good for me. However, while I was off as long as I took it easy I felt pretty good...only when I pushed myself a little too much did I feel bad. I made sure I used my pain & nausea meds if I needed them even the least little bit, after all that's what they're for. I too used a heating pad, but it helped me more at nite for shoulder pain. But all in all I felt much better than I expected to. There were a few times in the past weeks where I felt some pain near my incisions while walking the dog and wondered if they would ever go away and I think they're finally gone. But here at 5 wks I'm doing good, working in the yard, mowing, walking...etc. I am finding I have a little more energy and am hoping as the weight comes off it will increase. The thing is, we just had abdominal surgery! Sometimes it's hard to remember that. We've done the best thing we could do for ourselves...taking a step in the right direction to a healthier life. Just take it easy, use your pain meds and follow dr's orders on how to eat...you'll do great.

    Waiting to get filled!

Oh thank you all!!!! I've been feeling exactly like the rest of you, and hoping that after a few fills this will be what I thought it would be like. I can eat just about anything altho I'm trying to stay away from junk, but at times the good food is so good to me I just want to keep eating and that's a behavior I've always had a problem with! I was banded 4/21 and have lost about 20 pre and post op, but nothing at all for a couple weeks, like some of you. I'm glad I'm not alone. I'm still sure we've done the right thing....it just seems like all the anxiety from waiting and waiting for the surgery to be done is returning for this waiting and waiting for a fill and restriction to be done!
  4. I like Muscle Milk Lite...I get the big can of powder instead of the premixed, it's 25g per glass - it tastes like chocolate milk to me and goes down almost too easy.
  5. I was banded 4/21 and my surgery was scheduled at 2:15 in the afternoon. They want you there 3 hrs ahead of time and of course you don't have anything to eat or drink from midnite the nite before. So needless to say I was hungry and thirsty. I kept thinking, I hope my surgeon is having a good day...lol.....they started the iv and all that....I kept waiting, 2:15 came and went, they said the person before me had taken longer than expected and it shouldn't be too long.....then at 5:00 I'm on my way. I was put off at the time, but it really wasn't that bad. Dr said he just had to take his time w/the previous patient and that I would be just fine...as he went to get ready for me, the anithesiologist and the assisting members of the team were snapping at each other I assumed the long day was getting to them (I'm thinking, oh shit this is great) but before too long I was given that oxygen mask and don't remember much until I found myself in my private room afterwards. I heard my son's voice, but I was still very out of it. When I finally started to wake up it was midnite or so and as much as I want to bitch about it, it was really nice, I took a little walk in the hall without all the hustle and bustle of the day and my nurses were able to give me more personal attention since most everyone else was asleep. I took full advantage of the demerol for pain...I didn't let myself hurt much at all before asking for it. I was released the next afternoon, and things have not been too bad since. I'm just starting mushies and do find myself hungry, but I understand at this point I'm healing and should feel more "restriction" after my first fill. I probably could have gone back to work last week, but decided to take the full two weeks and take it as easy as possible. I'm sure this is the best thing I've done for myself and look forward to being able to live a thinner healthier life.

    Already Testing...

You are be no means alone! I'm 11 days out and I just really really want to chew and feel food in my mouth. My mushies start Monday but I'm thinking maybe I'll start a day or two sooner....don't beat yourself up or buy into any shaming. You're human!
  7. sorry....didn't mean to change the subject there! lol
  8. well....i'm not so much into heels and such....but i do love to ride motorcycles and favorite my ridin' boots became very uncomfortable when the weight started packing on. It will be so cool to be able to wear them again, and my favorite riding leathers...actually, I just can't wait to be able to swing my leg over the damn bike and go for a ride without feeling like a hog on a hawg! lol
  9. Oh my! Every single word I've read on this post is ME!!!! I've been banded one week today and I feel like I could eat a horse! I've been thinking maybe something was wrong, the band's not on there right or something. I am soooo glad to know I'm not alone!!! Also, I'm home from work and watching alot of tv and come to the conclusion they should make them stop food commercials like they did cigarette commercials! I want everything.....there's this one commercial for a brownie crumble iced coffee with whipped cream from Tim Horton's that is driving me nuts because I can almost justify it as being a liquid! lol All in all tho' this is good....I've lost like 15 lbs w/pre-op and post-op and that's what I wanted. The bloating is not as bad and actually I feel pretty good.
  10. I liked your post too PearlyGirl and I was also banded this past week on 4/21!....we're doing the best thing for ourselves. I have found this forum helps to balance out any unintentional negatives from friends and come here often. Thanks for sharing your letter!

    I can't believe I did it!

I was banded 4/21 too! I'm not feeing as bad as I thought I would at this point, just a little tender around the incisions. Going to the bathroom is weird, all the watery poop w/gas. But I guess that's due to all the liquid. I am starting full liquids today and lemon yogurt never tasted so good! It did take awhile to eat, but I was able to eat it all. I sort of wonder if the band is there (but I know it is) - I thought I'd get full by about half way thru. The hard part is not drinking while eating.
  12. gasx strips doesn't help me w/regular gas - i haven't been banded yet (monday yay!) but i was going out shopping today to be prepared for next week and possibly look for something to help

    united health care

I have UHC and did not have to do the 6 mos dr supervised diet. My bmi is over 40 and I do have co-morbidities. My surgeon's office said I would need to provide medical history for the past 5 yrs to show that I have been overweight and mine only went back 3 yrs because I went for a long period of time with no pcp.....I was worried that it would either delay my approval or require me to jump thru some other hoop, but they approved me in less than a week. I work with several people that are either going to have wls or already have had wls....our company offers both uhc and bcbs....the people w/uhc are having a much easier time getting approved. My surgery is not until Monday the 21st but from what I understand I will be paying $1000-$1500 out of pocket total. I'm sure it will be the best money I've ever spent.
  14. Hi Tammie - I just realized I had a message. Still learning how to get around on this forum. I'm scheduled for surgery Monday 4/21 in Dayton Ohio. Have you been banded?

  15. flstfgirl

OH NOES! I'm getting a cold!!!

I think Airborne might be an herbal supplement and my sugeon specifically states not to use herbal supplements for a period of time before surgery. I would call the Dr to see what they think.

    Depressing Dr appointment

My Dr tried to discourage me the first few times I mentioned WLS to her. At one point I thought she was trying to keep me from having it done by not filling out paperwork I left for her as quickly as I thought she should have. She has suggested several times to try and do it on my own - I have...and I know how that turns out. Then once I told her what my desicion was and that I was planning to do this, she became very supportive.

    Hello Form Ohio

Hey BandedTam...I think I will be having my surgery the same week as you at DBC. My insurance approved on Weds. of this week and I should be hearing from the scheuling person today. Like you, I'm ready to get this show on the road....I just cannot stop thinking about this and how things will be months from now. There are so many things I used to love to do that I let my weight stop me from today. I feel like I've been blessed by having insurance and the opportunity to do this. I know it will add years to my life as well as life to my years and looking better is just an xtra benefit. I can't wait!

    Any April's out there?

I'm in Dayton, Ohio....going thru Dayton Bariatric - hopefully in April. It's been 1 week since they submitted everything to UHC. I'm anxious to get this show on the road!

    Any April's out there?

Thanks for the info Bea.....I called UHC today and they got the paperwork Friday, so it's being processed. (yay!) I'm just so anxious and am being impatient...it's funny - since I've made the decision to do this it is all I can think about! I've got a couple friends at work going thru the process that I talk to thruout the day and then I get on here the second I get home and again before bedtime....I feel like a kid waiting to get their driver's license or something! lol
  21. Get back into riding motorcycles, take my 4 yr old granddaughter to the zoo, the fair, etc... without getting winded, take my dog to the dog park to play, be more social and spontaneous, work in my yard and not be embaressed to wear shorts & tank top in the front yard! buy new clothes....the things I would feel more comfortable doing w/o this xtra 100+ lbs...the list would be endless!! LOL

    Any April's out there?

I'm hoping insurance will approve shortly so we can schedule in April.....Lynne...I noticed in your signature you went back & forth w/UHC to get approved. What sort of run around was UHC giving you? I have UHC.
  23. I'm hoping to have my surgery date soon, just waiting on insurance approval. Some people at work know and the really cool thing is that most of the ones that know are doing it also or have already had it done! 5 or 6 of us are doing the lap band and one is doing rny....I didn't really want it to be public information, but I'm sure the cat will get outta the bag in no time. I know there will be those that judge...but I figure if that's what they're about they're probably already judging me for being fat anyway. I try not to let things like that bother me...I figure what could I do about it anyway?! lol....I just know this is the best thing I can do for me and that's the most important thing.

    Any good cottage cheese flavorings?

I like cottage cheese, pineapple, cool whip. I guess you could use pineapple juice for now tho.
