  1. We were on purée and soft foods at day 10. I'm not advocating not following your plan but you have most likely not injured yourself.

The pace is mostly set by your insurance requirements and yourself. The first appt you'll get a notebook with docs for the personal nutritionist visit and psych evaluation and what insurances they take. It will also be the first meeting w a doc or PA for your supervised diet. (I only had a PA once, others it was the head of the program). Blood work is also drawn first visit. Then it's fulfill your requirements and go monthly for sup diet. Took a few days to submit when I had completed everything but like I said I was sleeved about 10 days later. 7 day pre-op liquid diet and a progressive plan introducing foods sooner than I see a lot on here. Take your insurance info if you can get it online. Medical records not needed. Only time I waited was first visit and I think they forgot me. But every other time was quick. I don't think the bmi will speed it up. It's all about meeting your insurance requirements. Good luck. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I was in an initial meeting within three weeks of calling on April 10th, had an insurance requirement on 3 month supervised diet, and was sleeved on Aug 4.

I went through Emory Bariatrics. I was sleeved on the 4th of August. It was great. I was able to do all of my insurance requirements with their help and the nutritionists are great and responsive. My surgeon was Jamil Stetler and he is awesome. I had zero complications and little pain. My incisions look great. I got approval in a week from my insurance and was sleeved about 10 days later. Feel free to dm me if you have specific questions. Good luck.

Do male loose weight faster than female?

I had 9 lbs of added weight when I left the hospital after surgery so don't panic if it's more than a couple. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    So disappointed :(

Slouch when they measure your height. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. I was liquid only for one week. Nutritionally, protein or fiber will keep you more full longer. After a few days it got a lot easier. Good luck.
  8. Baritastic app. I set it for Vitamins only bc I'm in a rhythm w my Fluid and food. I don't need a reminder to take each Vitamin either but every once in a while i will get a notification and remember I haven't had my vitamins today. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Need advice on my post op diet

We started purée on day 7 but 5-6 meals of 1/4-1/3 cup per meal. I had no problem tolerating the purée. Good luck. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I KNOW I can eat more than I should

If you puréed one of those it probably comes in at the max fill line. The issue would be making better choices to fill up on. Best of luck to you. But don't get discouraged over your sleeve size over that. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. My plan has us eating 4 meals a day between 3/4 cups to one cup in size. As for watermelon, when you chew it, it is going to compact so that's how you need to imagine your ability to hold the food. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  14. We were allowed moist meats including chicken on day 10. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Sipping vs. Gulping

It may sound weird but I take in a lot of Water and then partition my swallow so it goes down not all at once. I have worried about taking in too much in a short period. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Anyone have young kids?

I was told not to lift my son (or anything over a gallon of milk) for 6 weeks. I did not comply, but I never had any pain from picking him up. After a week, if you have no complications, you might be tired, but should be able to do what you need to do.
  17. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3410227/ "Band malfunction (insufficient stomach restriction) after AGB leads to weight regain (73–75). In contrast, gastric dilation after VSG does not necessarily abrogate weight loss. Gastric dilatation is not common after VSG, estimated to occur in only one of 14 patients 1 yr after surgery (66), but when it does occur, it is unlikely to limit surgical success (66, 72). Furthermore, gastric tube size does not predict excess weight loss in humans (76)."

    Diet

If you have a plan follow it. For not laying in a hospital bed for a month's sake. I don't think eating that soon is as risky but with the right stuff and puréed.

    Diet

If you were not given a dietary plan by a nutritionist tell me and I'll send you mine. It's more progressive than a lot that I read on here. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Diet

Yeah the chips could hurt you. And sounds like a lot of carbs. You're starting very early with the things you're needing to learn to do without in the early stages. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Why am I pooping?

You have red blood cells that are dying all of the time. Poop is not just food.

  24. Example, yes, seeing you drop your weight will make him proud and possibly inspire. Maybe they are right and there is no hope, but you have to have the conversation. And maybe a suggestion to get therapy before he blows his chance. He wouldn't have had the surgery if he did not want the success. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
