Aetna insurance in Georgia
sc101071 replied to SouthernSpinoza's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I am using Dr. Stetler at Emory Bariatrics (Emory Midtown). I have surgery in two days. He has been great to this point, and the program has been very easy to follow with them. -
I go in on the 4th. I have Dr. Stetler at Emory Midtown, but the surgery is at St. Joseph's. I am on my 5th day of pre-op liquid and my mind is mush. I am also having incredibly anxiety today. It sounds like we have a lot in common. I'm a little older, but I have a 16 month and a loving wife at home that are my inspiration. I don't think there are any words that are going to relieve our worries, but we are in great hands. I wish you the absolute best and and easy recovery. You've got this.

My surgery date is August 4 ,2016
sc101071 replied to carmell's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My surgery is the 4th as well. Just started liquid yesterday. I am tired, but making it. Hope your surgery and recovery go perfect. -
I am on day two of the liquid pre-op. They tell me no caffeine, but herbal teas are ok. I accidentally had tea with caffeine, and I feel awesome. How strict is this no caffeine rule? I'm gonna try to follow it, but man was it nice.

I haven't made any of these, but I love Serious Eats website. http://www.seriouseats.com/2015/09/pressure-cooker-recipes.html -
I would guess you qualify. If employer is paying for the coverage it would sound like you qualify. See if a letter from HR would resolve the matter. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Advice and Suggestions for Gastric Sleeve
sc101071 replied to Sergio_TX's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Please take your sleep apnea seriously. If you are not breathing when you sleep, you are not getting sufficient oxygen to your organs. It can lead to heart failure and kidney failure among other problems. My mom died at the age of 57 largely due to untreated sleep apnea. -
Sounds like you are covered. I got lots of different answers when I was trying to figure out the requirements of my insurance for approval. I'd ask for a copy of your plan. Might be able to get it from your HR dept.

Spouse unable to deal with changes
sc101071 replied to hbrhonda's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I know it's difficult for me sometimes to be good when my wife decides to diet. When she became pregnant it was difficult to cut back my alcohol and sucked that we couldn't both belly up at a bar like we used to. I still very much loved my wife. Maybe you focus more on your own intake and let him focus on his own. Sounds like he was supportive since he was there with you to get the surg and was considering it himself. Maybe you find you have a hubby 40 lbs overweight that still very much loves you. I'd go to Vegas. You battle the temptation, you got the tool. I would be a little more generous when he slips. He doesn't have the tool. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
My pre-op nutrition appt is tomorrow and I've grown so anxious. I needed to see this. Keep up the good work. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Look, I love to drink, and I haven't had surgery yet. It's half the reason I need the surgery. The way you describe it, you are hurting yourself at a much faster rate than ever with food. Weening ain't enough. If you care about your health, and the surgery shows you do, talk to someone. No judgment.

Rock it! Can't wait!

Your body fights losing weight. It's part of the reason we all find ourselves here. You'll overcome it. Just keep it up. And, when you've dropped your weight start to point out hubby's love handles. Or talk about the cute guy from work.
