Hmmm...must check out liquor store - have no recollection of ever seeing sweet tea flavored vodka. Is it possibly a regional item?

And yes - WAY too many posts to catch up on; but it sounds like you were all having fun...but without me!:cryin: Yet another slow movin day - DH brought me coffee in bed at 430 , and I've been doing nothin' since then. BAH! Beth - hope everything for your dad is good. For our 2010 PJTP event, Plain can be our mascot, as we decorate him in assorted little 'outfits' - the mini skirt, wig and madonna cone bra I would just HAVE to see! WAIT - nope, we won't decorate him - we give him the clothes and he dresses HIMSELF. Glad it is Friday - makes the rain less insanity-provoking!

Victorious Valentines - Feb. 08 - MASTER THREAD!

Morning Ezma, Glad to see you back on the exercise routine Ezma...imagine...maybe someday you too will become an Angie/Shiny/runner kind of gal! It must have been difficult to go to the orientation without your husband, but I bet your son apprecited that you were there! And yes, isn't it strange how children age so quickly but their parents don't? You're still young! I still have the exercise mopes. It has now been over a week since I went to the Y. Still getting up in plenty of time to go but just don't do it. I got in 60+ minutes of brisk walking yesterday and will again today, but I just have no interest/energy in going to the Y. Im hoping that in Sept some new courses will be offered and one of them will be just the jump-start I need....but who knows. Well, gonna grab my lunch now - small bean salad and a ff yogurt. Definately missing the Protein, so will have to have a big protein-packed supper.

OK - what happened to the post I just posted? It got eaten... My sleep patterns are back to normal - finally after 5 terrible days of 'sleepless in tapland'. When I referred to being late, I meant getting out the door. I just cannot get motivated to haul my ass to the Y for 6am...I haven't been there in over a week now. And although I am briskly walking 60+ minutes a day, I know it isn't the same. But my mojo is lost - and frankly, I'm not interested in finding it!:sneaky:

But that's your WINTER...sad really, your winter is looking a lot like my summer this year... I've never played poker, and I am not a good cheater either...I will need lots of lessons!! That's a good plan... Sorry about your situation... Prayers sent; thoughts are with you and your family. KC - Morning all. I am late again. Have a good day everyone......

What a horrible thing to do to coffee...ick! Black. No additions of any kind. Only way to have coffee.
  15. After much discussion, my DH and I are going to visit Australia - our once-in-a-lifetime vacation. So, aside from the usual government websites and travel books, I was hoping you might have some handy hints, some less than well-known but fabulous places to visit suggestions, recommendations for places to stay, handy hints, general advice. The things we know: 1. We have ONLY 3 weeks so we know we aren't going to see everything or even 1/2 of everything! We do know its a big continent! We are going to be selective about where we go and what we see/do- but there are just SO many things to select from!!! (A given is Ayre's Rock and the Sydney Opera House - now if I could only get DH to an opera I would be thrilled! DH wants to go to an Aussie rules football game - whatever that is!)) 2. We are going in February, which we know is a high time for things, but hey, that's when we can travel. 3. We are NOT 'join a bus tour' people - although they may be great for getting to 'see' the most things in the shortest time, we are much more of the 'whatever takes our fancy let's do' mindset. We have lots of questions, but: 1. Is a camper van easily rented and worthwhile when compared to renting a car and paying for hotels/B&Bs? 2. If you were a tour guide, what would you recommend to newcomers who have only 3 weeks? Any ideas/suggestions/recommendations/website links/or words of wisdom are welcome! Thanks.

  18. Thanks so much - and keep the ideas/recommendations coming! We really appreciate them! We are checking each link provided, and purchased a great map book and are checking off spots etc. to see what is reasonable to combine without becoming the dazed "30 cities in 5 days" people. We are just getting so excited, although the news on the aussie rules football was a bit of a blow to DH (me, not so much!). Keep the ideas coming...........

    Ghosts...

Nothing spooky has happened to me (yet) even though I am open to it! My mother has had a few odd things happen. One: she grew up in the country, and there were train tracks not far from the house. One day for whatever reason, she decided to take pictures of the train, and took many pictures - all of the train. (This would be about 75 years ago - so steam engines). In one of the pictures you can see quite clearly within the steam a man's face...very distinct. This is not a 'tilt you head sideways, squint your eyes' thing - it is very clear. The moustache, the hair, the shirt collar, etc. Septics says, a double exposure, but all the pictures from that day are in the same envelope - not one person is in a picture. AND the man's face was instantly recognizeable to my mother and her family - it was a close cousin who had died the day the pics were taken. My mother refuses to look at the picture, it is kept put away, but also refuses to throw it away believing it will be bad luck. My aunt (her sister) freaks out at the mention of the picture; hates trains since then, and avoids them as much as is possible. As for animals, I believe that cats and dogs can be 'tuned into' another dimension or parallel universe or something. I've owned MANY cats and dogs, and many have an eerie characteristic of sometimes staring at nothing that I can see. Cats are particularly 'attuned'; I have observed one or two of my cats not only starting at nothing, but apparently also responding to something invisible to me.

Oh, but would you sell something if you found out it was that valuable? Or keep it - for either sentimental or LATER resale value? I was given a dining room table and chairs with leather seats. The set came to North America in the 1890's from England, and was not new then. It is my daily table - complete with faded finish, torn seat covers, scratches, etc....and I never think of it as an antique. I'm sure somebody would think it is scandalous to use it as a regular table, but that's what it is. Beth - what do you do with 2 dining room sets?? My mother still as one of her original dolls - with the straw stuffing and real china head. The doll is probably 80+ years old. Wonder if it is worth something? Thrift stores can also a source of treasures - from a newspaper: Someone dropped off two paintings at a local Goodwill bin. The paintings were put aside in a shopping cart for the store manager to assess and price. The manager who knew nothing about art thought they might be originals. He called in an art dealer who identified them as by Peruvian artist Federico del Campo. The store decided to auction them and the winning bid was over $150,000. Imagine if the manager hadn't thought to check - someone might have picke up these paintings for $10. or something....

Victorious Valentines - Feb. 08 - MASTER THREAD!

Hi Lori! Glad to hear the garage sale was a success - and the compliments were the icing on the cake (so to speak!). I am amazed though that people didn't buy any of the rolls - guess different regions/people want different things! And back in the 150's and with good eating...you are on a roll! I am sure you will succeed; you have come this far and have the right attitude! Hi Jul! Sound like things are going great for you - YAH!! And so close to breaking the 200 pound barrier...This is fabulous...enjoy it! I am delighted that your last fill has done so much for you. It certainly is easier whent he band helps us, isn't it? Hey LilMiss - you are sounding so much more positive than last month...what a change! This is so good, and your attitude is great! New shoes, new equipment, new attitude...you are unstoppable now!! :w00t: I'm still moping! I walked to work today and totally bypassed the Y - I just could NOT get interested enough to cross the threshold and go in! So, I guess a brisk walk home tonight and then I will have to find something to do tonight...other than eat,, and be a blob. BAH!!! Someone, kick me in the rear, or give me a slap upside the head...
