Do you mean to suggest that not everyone hears the scary music?

    Size goal vs Pound goal

Sizes are too variable...even now I can wear a size 1x, 18, 16 - all different manufacturers and styles. I don't have a target weight - the surgeon suggested one but I have no idea how I will feel if I attain it. I don't know what I want!! I need a new way to evaluate ...let's see. Walking without parts flopping? I am a work in progress in so many ways!

    List your lapband confessions here.

My mother's birthday is today. Planned for a family BBQ at my house with lots of food offering both band and non-band options. (only DH knows of the band) Chicken wings, devilled eggs, and caesar salad - were fine. I passed on the burgers, the pasta salad, the selection of crudites etc. Was doing fine. Then I brought out the 4 layer ice-cream dome dessert... It was melting, so I had to eat it, right??? @$%#$@.

    Irrational fears

I hesitated whether to post or not, as my fear is not irrational...it is perfectly sensible. It is a well-known FACT that in underground parking garages, you will be murdered. Any number of highly reliable sources including movies, tv shows and books have identified that the moment you enter that subterranean artificial structure, you will be murdered. Therefore I either park on the street or take public transit places. I will not willingly go into one.

Oh Gross! Hide the chicken from your pets.

A few years ago, I had invited guests for Sunday dinner - roast beef and all the trimmings. Just as the guests were arriving, I removed the roast from the oven to let it 'rest'. I sat it on the counter, and went to greet my guests. After the hello/how are you stuff, I returned to the kitchen to get the wine. I thought something was odd but couldn't quite figure it out. Returned to the guests, had our wine, and then we all traipsed to the kitchen so that I could finish preparing the meal. It was then I noticed there was no meat resting on a platter. I thought, 'You are losing it, girl. It is still in the oven'. Nope, not in the oven, not on the counter, not in the sink. Still not clueing in, I thought maybe I have really lost my mind, and it is in the dishwasher. Nope. Then and only then did I notice that my 100 lb Lab was no where to be seen. I went looking and found him in his kennel licking his lips.... You just gotta laugh! We had a vegetarian dinner.

    New one here!

Welcome! It is understandable that you are in state of mixed emotions; I believe everyone on this journey has experienced this. This forum is great to hear opinions, and have a laugh, or rant.

    This one's for my husband

DH and I both enjoy cooking. Post-band has meant that there have been a few adjustments to how we cook, and the amount we cook, but other than that we are doing as we always have. More approach is not to cut out any foods (I interpret that as 'dieting', and I am NOT dieting), but rather to have much smaller portions. So if it is Pasta, DH has his usual serving, and I may have 1/8th of a cup of pasta, but much more sauce scooping out the meats. We have only recently resumed going out for the occasional (not fast food) dinner - and we have ordered 1 meal and 2 forks. Most servings in restaurants are too big normally; this way I eat the little I want, and DH has the rest. Minimal waste, and as a by-product, a healthier portion size for DH as well. In another restaurant, because we wanted different things, I had the appetizer only. It may take some time to adjust to cooking smaller portions, but you get used to it.

    *random thought alert*

The only problem with these strategies for me is that I don't have any valuables! But if I did... litter box, nope. in a houseful of cats, this could be dangerous. Pnned to curtains, nope. Saw that once and it showed and deformed the curtains. Curtain rod, well, only diamonds and pearls but paper would be affected by the moisture. Besides, in none of thse places would my diamond tiara fit!

but did you count the calories in the lapband? You have to put it on the scales, and fish have scales, and I hate fish, except for the kind that is in water.

Oh FF, I just got a mental image of you pulling strings out of your mouth like a clown pulling handkerchiefs, or a dental floss dispenser. It's a sickness I have, really it is. My mind just works in such a bizarre way.

    Tell me a story...

No such luck, I still have to move them out of the way when putting on a belt!
  21. Thanks Egor! I have always had curves (TMI alert - I had 'the girls' WAYYY before other females my age). The difference is now the waist is starting to curve IN not OUT. Skirts - I always have worn business suits with skirts. The difference will be that I will won't be wearing as many 'long-cover-a-multitude-of- thighs' ones, but rather shorter more form fitting ones. At least, this is the plan when I am closer to goal. Bathing suits -oh Hollyncharm, how I hate the bathing suit shopping. I always purchased mine on-line so that I never had to go into a store and have the post-humiliation melt-down in public. I am HOPING that as summer and my goal weight draw closer, my weight/shape will be more conducive to going into a store and trying one (or 10) on.
