  1. @@Stephy5 I'm in the same boat... Was banded back in 2006, then ten years later had it removed and converted to sleeve June 27th of this year. I've heard about the many benefits of the sleeve that outweigh those of the band, and I'm looking forward to the long-term success that comes with it also.

This whole thing is a process... I was surprised at how much I did remember from my early band-days during recovery in the hospital and getting used to drinking post-op. I'm finding that my body is helping me remember what I need to know, and just taking things slow has worked great.

Nobody's timing you, just listen to your body and take things nice and slow.

I had trouble keeping liquids down (most likely due to hiatal hernia repair I had during my conversion surgery) the first day after. The second day I gave myself 15 minutes to drink 10 mL of Water... Slow and sure things began to stay down, and then I was able to drink more consistently and adjust to the sensations.

The human body is an amazing machine, and it remembers a lot more than you might think.

    All the best! :)

  2. 6 days post op... still have some reflux but its not as bad as the worst was when the band was in. Did you mention this to your surgeon? Maybe they will put you on something for it.

They just said to use OTC stuff. Thanks. Glad it's not as bad as when you had your band in.

right on... thanks - best of luck with everything hope the reflux improves.

  3. Hi, new here but was sleeved on the 28th. I just want to get to the soft food stage. Miserable right now.

@@susie66 I hear you... you're in the thick of the tough part... liquids are no fun. I haven't had an actual meal in 3 weeks... but I just keep telling myself the actual food part is coming - it'll be here sooner than you think.

What's helped me the most is trying to keep busy... trying not to think about food, and making sure to keep my mind on other things so I'm not focusing on my want for something with consistency.

    Hang in there!

  4. Would anyone like to join with me in an online video group chat tomorrow 8-9pm London time? If so please PM me and I'll give you the link. You can either put the link into browser or download the app appear.in onto your mobile phone. I think max number is 8 people. I would love to see you and share our stories, hopes and concerns.

  5. Hey all,

Newly sleeved on 6/27 when Lap Band was removed as well. I had the Lap Band for 10 years, and am just curious from my fellow revised folk:

What's been the single biggest challenge or change that took getting used to ?

I also had a hiatal hernia repaired during my conversion, so the doctor explained the sensation of drinking and swallowing may feel similar to the band as the hernia repair site heals internally. I'm 6 days post op and I can tell it's less "band-like" each day. (What I mean by "band-like" is this... drinking a sip of Water, feeling the Water go down my esophagus and "pause" before draining into the rest of my stomach. )

Looking forward to hearing from you!

  6. I'n getting my revision to Gastric Sleeve done on 7/27/2016. Nervous and excited at the same time

Was banded in 2007 and lost 102 pounds then had a slip of the band and was re banded in 2013 where I gain back 82 pounds-

I did the same thing - Lap Band -> Sleeve on June 27th -- All the best!

I'm 6 days post op and feeling great.

  7. The most important thing is you caught yourself and realized what happened. Nobody's perfect - you'll be fine. The most critical day is the day before and day of surgery. The whole reason for the liquid diet pre-op is to get your liver to shrink (Ketosis) so the surgeon would be able to perform the procedure. All the best!
