    Big Fat Fab Life

Thank you thank you thank you SO MUCH For starting this topic! I was about to do the same but was thrilled to find this and I'm glad I'm not alone. Whitney is in SUCH denial, OMG... but I think that's what she's using to get attention. I saw the episode where she rode a bike in a 2 mile beginner ride, etc. Don't get me wrong, I think it's great to show she's determined to overcome obstacles in front of her but at some point she's gotta realize she's doing a better job at making a fool of herself. I don't know whether to boycott the show or keep watching it, because I'm just waiting to see the episode where the light bulb goes off and she finally says "I realize I have to do something etc..." and she goes in for bariatric surgery. She could use her "body confidence" and positivity to really inspire some people and impart some good change on those considering having surgery... Surgery isn't a magic pill, and her making a recovery and setting an example could help so many other folks battling with their weight.

    Late June Sleeve Buddies?

I'm so surprised by how different my taste buds are regarding the Isopure Lemonade... I was able to drink that fine before the surgery, post-op it's gross. I hope my choice of liquid protein shakes don't have that same surprise for me - but they were much better tasting than the Isopure so I'm a little less worried. Full liquids tomorrow - can't wait!

    Late June Sleeve Buddies?

Another thing that keeps me motivated... I'm looking forward to foods I know that taste good that are within the diet/specifications. There's a great low-sodium tomato soup I'm really excited for.

    Anxiety and feeling so alone....

@@Stephy5 I'm in the same boat... Was banded back in 2006, then ten years later had it removed and converted to sleeve June 27th of this year. I've heard about the many benefits of the sleeve that outweigh those of the band, and I'm looking forward to the long-term success that comes with it also. This whole thing is a process... I was surprised at how much I did remember from my early band-days during recovery in the hospital and getting used to drinking post-op. I'm finding that my body is helping me remember what I need to know, and just taking things slow has worked great. Nobody's timing you, just listen to your body and take things nice and slow. I had trouble keeping liquids down (most likely due to hiatal hernia repair I had during my conversion surgery) the first day after. The second day I gave myself 15 minutes to drink 10 mL of Water... Slow and sure things began to stay down, and then I was able to drink more consistently and adjust to the sensations. The human body is an amazing machine, and it remembers a lot more than you might think. All the best! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Late June Sleeve Buddies?

@@susie66 I hear you... you're in the thick of the tough part... liquids are no fun. I haven't had an actual meal in 3 weeks... but I just keep telling myself the actual food part is coming - it'll be here sooner than you think. What's helped me the most is trying to keep busy... trying not to think about food, and making sure to keep my mind on other things so I'm not focusing on my want for something with consistency. Hang in there!

Having a hard time sticking to my diet

You can definitely find ways to satisfy some of your craves that can fit within your diet. I've been on liquids for a few weeks, I"m about 6 days post op on sleeve. For me, Crystal Light fruit punch has been a godsend. It's just sweet enough to satisfy my craving for something sweet and different than Water.

    Acid Reflux after band removal

6 days post op... still have some reflux but its not as bad as the worst was when the band was in. Did you mention this to your surgeon? Maybe they will put you on something for it.

    Surgery in 2 days!

    All the best!!

    I messed up!

The most important thing is you caught yourself and realized what happened. Nobody's perfect - you'll be fine. The most critical day is the day before and day of surgery. The whole reason for the liquid diet pre-op is to get your liver to shrink (Ketosis) so the surgeon would be able to perform the procedure. All the best!

Congratulations and all the best on your upcoming surgery! The waiting before-hand can be tough, but joining a forum like this is such a great idea and great way to get support from all over the world.
