    Scrambled eggs?

Don't judge me for these questions.... 1. Regarding a sliver and a pat of butter: How much is that exactly? Would you say a sliver is approximately a teaspoon? How much is a pat? 2. Regarding a splash of milk: Would you say that's equivalent to a tablespoon? I'm probably one of the most incompetent people you can possibly imagine when it comes to cooking. I've spent the last 10 years eating my way to obesity on take-out. I am learning to cook, but I'm still at the stage where I need measurements. I can do a pinch and a dash, but beyond that, I have to utilize measuring spoons, measuring cups, and/or a scale.
  2. @@SamPSUfan The incisions were painful for the 1st week and a half, maybe 2 weeks at most. I live in NYC, so I don't drive. About 5 or 6 days post-op, I walked to BJs to buy Protein shakes. It's a 2 mile walk from my apartment. I made it the 1st mile but had to take the bus the rest of the way due to nausea. While I was walking, I didn't really feel pain, but there was discomfort. The best way I can describe the feeling is that it kind of felt like my insides were moving around every time I took a step. Weight loss so far: -Pre-op (not including the 2 week pre-op liquid diet): 9lbs -During the pre-op liquid diet: 11lbs -10 days post-op: 10lbs I'm stalled now, so I haven't lost any weight in the past week and a half.

    Sleeve size/drinking

@@tohealth I'm 3 weeks post-op yet I still can't figure out how to drink my Water. Some days I can only sip it. Other days I gulp. Sometimes I can even chug it. Yesterday I was able to chug an 8oz. glass of water, yet today I can only sip. It has been kind of bizarre. Like you, I had some mild discomfort the 1st couple days. Since then, I've had no trouble getting in my water.
  4. @@SamPSUfan I was very lethargic due to the calorie deficit. My incisions hurt quite a bit, so I couldn't twist or bend very easily. I had mild nausea whenever I overexerted myself (making my bed, showering, carrying groceries up a flight of stairs). Other than that, there were no issues. Recovery was pretty easy. I'm 3 weeks post-op and still very lethargic. I'm able to work out at the gym for an hour and a half every morning, but I have to take a 2-3 hour nap later in the afternoon.
  5. @@Hiraeth You don't need a trainer to workout. Keep up with the walking, and add in some strength training to boost your metabolism. I'm only using a PT b/c I have some injuries and don't really know what I'm doing in a gym.
  6. @ I had 2nd thoughts right before my surgery. Fortunately I was in a position where it was too late to back out (already at the hospital in Mexico with the nurses putting compression socks on me). I thought I was crazy for having the surgery and going to Mexico for it. At 3 weeks post-op, I can already tell you how happy I am that I went through with the surgery. My intense gotta-have-it-right-now cravings are gone. I'm not spending $30 a day on take-out. I've already lost 2" from my waist and my face is noticeably thinner and less puffy.
  7. @@Hiraeth I am exercising. It's one of my NSVs I go to the gym everyday and do 1 hour of cardio and 30 minutes of strength training. Effective the 15th, I will be working out with a personal trainer 3 days a week. Like you, I was expecting the stall, so I'm not concerned. I weigh myself every morning, but I'm not discouraged by the lack of weight loss. The weight will come off when its ready. I've read where some 3wk stalls lasted a month or so. I *hope* mine won't be that long, but there's nothing I can do other than to follow my plan.
  8. @@Hiraeth I was 3 wks. post-op as of Friday, so I'm a day behind you. My stall started 10 days after surgery, and I'm still stalled. I've lost nearly 2" from my waist and have had several other NSVs during this time though. Like you, my weight is fluctuating within 2 lbs.
  9. CLNBK is my handle. I've tried adding you all, but I'm doing something wrong. Has anyone upgraded to Premium? I'm considering it.

    On the run

Those look amazing, especially the buffalo-style pack. Can you eat it from the pouch, or does it have to be mixed with anything?
  11. I just came back nearly two weeks ago with the exact same documents: expired passport, DL, and BC. I gave them the DL and BC and explained that my passport had expired 5 years ago. It wasn't a problem, nor were we delayed. We had a medical pass and went through around 8am on a Tuesday. I *think* you can potentially get a passport card within 5 days, but I was too lazy to do it.

    Purée

I've always put Texas Pete's hot sauce in my chili. Has anyone tried this during the puree stage? How did your stomach handle it?
  13. @@Alex Brecher I had no issue being in the smallest room. I was in bed or walking the hallway most of the time. I did have an issue with the shower being so small that I could only partially close the shower door. I flooded the hospital room that I was staying in. It was humiliating. Regardless, the affiliation with florence Hospital no longer exists. I wish I would have known about all of this prior because I would have gladly delayed my surgery by 2 weeks.
  14. I'm 15 days post-op. I stalled at exactly 10 days and haven't lost anything since then. I'm assuming the 3 week stall came a little early for us. The scale will eventually move again :-)

    Need a little pep talk

Same for me. I wanted the Lap Band since it's not permanent, but after hearing everything the doctor told me, I decided to go with the sleeve.
  16. I met two ladies who were in the new wing at florence Hospital who also had to transfer between beds immediately post-op. I believe one of them emailed you already. I am pleased with Dr. Illan and the surgery. My incisions are healing nicely. I will DM you soon to address my concerns.
  17. "New Operating rooms and recovery rooms with state of the art equipment." I had my surgery 2 weeks ago through Bariatric Pal's Team MX. From the OR, I had to transfer myself (no help from anyone) to 3 different beds immediately post-op. I was in an incredible amount of pain, still bleeding on the sheets, and barely coherent from the anesthesia. Is this something that is going to change at Oasis Hospital?
  18. @@turtle5569 If you will be at florence Hospital, I encourage you to learn as much Spanish as possible between now and then. You may or may not have English-speaking nurses.
  19. Not everyone uses the Facebook group though. Joining it should not be a prerequisite to having communication with Dr. Illan.
  20. @@lworth33 So many people on this forum answer questions by saying "ask your surgeon." I know it's frustrating when you try asking your surgeon but he doesn't reply.
  21. I'm 9 days out of surgery and would feel well enough for a weekend getaway, depending on what type of activities are planned.

    Hunger Pains?

@@tawnmarie Thanks for sharing. I keep checking to see if they look infected, but they look okay. Hurts to sit, hurts to stand, hurts to move around.

    Hunger Pains?

Are your incisions still painful? It hurts for me to make any type of movement.

I keep reading about this "PPI" thing. What are PPIs?
