  1. I've discovered my pattern is lose 3-5 lbs, gain 2, lose 3-5, gain 2...which is interesting/frustrating at the same time...so I signed up for membership at an "orange theory" studio that is opening 5 min from my house. I have 3 weeks until that opens up and I will be working out regularly. Until then I've just been walking...i feel like that's my main problem: not enough exercise! I'm just about exactly 40lbs lost, give or take a lb.

Also, my husband and I are going on our first solo vacay since having kids (6 years ago!) and I made resos for Vegas in mid-October! Definitely a trip that i am looking forward to, but I'm also nervous about food/drink/travel etc etc...

  2. I drank a glass of wine yesterday at a lularoe party, i would say i have 1-2 glasses/week and it's working for me, my Dr is fine with it (by the way, lularoe is a great line of clothes for when you're losing weight bc it's flattering, stretchy and grows/shrinks with you! If you get invited to one of the events definitely go)

My new favorite dinner!! (This is a salad for my whole family, not just for me )

Tomatoes and fresh basil from the garden, fresh mozzarella (which is lower in cals than most cheese, and high in protein) - drizzled with avocado oil and topped with salt and pepper. So delicious and filling! I can eat 2 slices of Tomato and 2 small slices of fresh mozz in 1 sitting and I'm FULL.

  4. I've been drinking coffee and iced coffee (caffeinated) without problems. My nurse told me before surgery that the reason they tell you no caffeine is because it surpresses appetite and also because coffee doesn't replace the need to get your full amt of Water in. She simply advised me not to forget to eat and drink ALL of my Water and I'll be fine. (My surgeon's nurse is awesome and tells me "real world" reasons for things instead of just towing the line and reading out of the guidelines book like my nutritionist does, which i appreciate.)

Also re interesting foods, I've definitely found new appreciation for Soups of all kinds! Lol. There is a "zoup" store near my house and it is a perfect way to get variety into my diet when I'm bored. My current favorite is their chilled gazpacho. I also eat cucumbers and pretzels with guacamole (which is my 5 y/o's favorite food in the world so i make it almost daily) - it fills me up quickly and is a perfect fix when I'm craving salty/snacky foods.

  5. Checking in! I am feeling very good, down 29-30 lbs. I was in a stall, then dropped 4, now I'm stalled again...but it honestly doesn't phase me, i know i won't be stalled forever!

I am feeling very normal as well, i have been dealing with a bit of acid reflux, but i take the pepcid and it goes away immediately.

I need to keep up on my Water, prescriptions, and Vitamins. Not doing a good job AT. ALL.

Otherwise I've been eating with my family during meals, went out to dinner etc etc. I have a few sips of wine when out at a social event, but otherwise no drinking.

Still miss overeating sometimes (especially when my kids wanted pizza night lol!) But overall i am SO GLAD i had this surgery. I love that even now I'm fitting into new clothes and people are noticing my weight loss.

NSV: Yesterday i bought a size 18 jeans in the misses dept!!!! Haven't bought from the non-plus size dept and under size 20-24 in FOREVER.

What's everybody's NSV? Share one if you have one!!!

  6. I had mine 6/27 and I'm to the point where I can start intruding normal food into my diet but I'm finding it hard still. But honestly I think the problem is I'm just scared I'm gonna mess up lol I know that sounds dumb. So I was wondering if anybody had any tips for quick and easy Breakfast ideas that I can take to work with me or the best Protein bars that they've found?

Make scrambled egg and cheese bites -bake in mini muffin tins. Keep in freezer and microwave for like 15 seconds when ready to eat. This has been my go to breakfast for the past week and it's the perfect way to start the day with Protein

    8 eggs, whisked

    1 C shredded cheddar

    Salt and pepper to taste

(Add spinach or diced tomatoes and mushrooms if you can tolerate veg)

Pour into mini muffin tins sprayed with Pam.

Bake at 325 for 6-10 min (keep checking on them, until the center is just firm)

Store in fridge for up to 7 days, microwave wrapped in a paper towel when ready to eat.

  7. Next week will be my first real social test; I will be 4 weeks post op and am attending an industry conference. I will be around buffets, Snacks, diet cokes etc. Every evening will also have cocktail parties/dinners.

Have any of you tried alcohol yet? I am planning to take Protein shakes with me and am not overly concerned about the food---I am worried about being tired mid day and drawn to the diet coke (kryptonite for me) but am wondering if I can have a cocktail.

I had white wine at a wedding last week. I checked with my nurse before I did so. I didn't notice any different effect than from before surgery, I sipped it slowly. It was fine!

  8. Since I've had my surgery, I've definitely learned a couple things about myself.

    1. I am used to eating EXTREMELY FAST and it is very difficult for me to slow down enough when eating

    2. I am still having major head hunger issues! I feel like I'm STARVING and dream of food, but when I actually eat, it's like 5 bites and I can't eat any more.

    3. I sometimes miss overeating. Isn't that crazy?! I miss being able to take those big huge bites, or eat an entire bowl of Pasta. I think that is part of this process, letting go of those unhealthy relationships we used to have with food.< /p>

And the final thing I've learned is that I have more confidence with every pound I lose! Down 21 and feeling GREAT!

What have you learned about yourself so far?

  9. Hi everyone I'm new to the group!! I had my surgery on June 29th and I have been having a hard time with my full liquids. I have one more week then puréed. Do anyone have any suggestions with getting in more Protein without having to increase the volume because I stay full after all the Water and Protein shakes and Soup. I get only about 75% of my protein and I'm only get half of my Water intact in. Any suggestions?

What's your protein requirement? Mine is 60g and I've been drinking 2 "premier protein" shakes a day (each has 30g protein, and they aren't very thick or filling)

Also ppl use powdered protein I've heard, to beef it up I guess

  10. So what is everybody's daily food routine looking like right now?

    Here's mine:

Protein shake (premier Protein - 30g protein) for Breakfast and a small cup of coffee

cheese stick or slice of cheese for snack/sometimes this is my lunch bc im too full to eat lunch..if I do have lunch it's a slice of organic turkey lunchmeat.

Protein Shake blended with ice and banana in the afternoon

Pick at whatever dinner that I've made for my family in the evening...and that's it!

And of course Water, Water, water during the day

It's hard to get protein and calories in!!!

  11. Update: I am 15 days post op, and I've lost 15 lbs! Struggling to get all of my Protein requirements in, but otherwise doing well. Energy is good, incisions are almost completely healed (one is pretty much invisible at this point!) and my digestive system is functioning pretty much normally (no more excess gas/diarrhea etc)

Will update at 30 days post op with a progress picture!
