  1. So glad to see people checking in.. I weigh in every Tuesday. Today I'm down 38 pounds. That puts me 40 pounds away from my goal weight. Last week I ordered new uniforms for work because the ones I have are too big now. I'm happy to be downsizing.

What I'm kind of discouraged about is eating. I used to love eating! I loved cooking and was a pretty good home cook. Now I don't like eating. It's almost a chore. I guess that could be a good thing, I'm not really sure. Eating for necessity instead of fun is probably the better mind set. But I really miss eating what I want when I want. I don't know... I feel conflicted.

  2. Lunu. I was where you are now. Everything tasted horrible... Even Water. Your body is in ketosis and is burning fat for food. So you will have a bad taste in your mouth and it makes things taste bad. I had surgery on June 21st and the bad taste has gone for the most part and things taste better. I still can't do shakes anymore they just make me feel ill. But I try to drink as much Water as I can everyday. Some times I will get 64 oz but it's a rare occasion. Typically it's around 40 oz. Try Crystal Light lemonade or a similar product. The sourness of it make it easier for me to drink when things were not tasting so good. Everyone has there good days and their bad ones post surgery. I think you will find here that as more time has past your bad days are fewer and fewer and the good ones are more and more. It will get better.

  3. For those of you that are having trouble with Protein shakes. I too find them making me feel ill post surgery. I have been using GENEPRO by Musclegen Research for over a week now and it has been great. I put it in almost everything. One tablespoon is 30 grams. So it is easy to get between 60 and 90 grams in a day. I've put it in cottage cheese, yogurt, Soup, mashed potatoes, almost everything! No taste whatsoever!! Seriously it's been great. It was recommended buy my nutritionist. I'm thankful she did.

  4. Maggie hope all is well with you. I'm doing pretty well I think. The GENEPRO arrived Thursday and I've been mixing it with cottage cheese or with mashed potatoes. There is no noticeable taste. So it has made my 60 gram goal easy. Tuesday I can move to the next phase of foods.

On a different note. I have noticed that I have 2 incisions still very much hurt, but only when I lay on my side. Not sure what that is all about. Hopefully I'm not developing adhesions.

I hope everyone else is doing well! Enjoy the weekend!!

  5. Hello everyone! Today is my two week post op mark. I've been on puréed foods since the 1st. I have to say that cottage cheese is the best thing so far. I just tried some mashed potatoes thinned out with some gravy and it was good but I could only have 4 bites before getting full. I am still struggling with Protein goals. I can't tolerate the shakes post surgery, they make me feel sick. The GENEPRO will be here Thursday I hope that works out. I have been staying hydrated the best I can. It just feels like I'm non stop sipping on something just to get the required amount of Fluid so I don't dehydrate. Fourth of July weekend was hard. Everyone was having burgers and hotdogs and I was having 4oz of cottage cheese. Oh well. The best part was this morning when I stepped on the scale... I'm down over 20lbs!!

  6. Hello all. Just had my first post op appointment. I have to say today is the first day I feel back to normal. I've been cleared to go back to work tomorrow! Also things taste good again. My dietician told me about GENEPRO by Musclegen Research. It's completely tasteless and instantly dissolves in liquid or you can put in anything... 30 grams of Protein per tablespoon!! I can't wait to try it! It will make protein goals so much easier. I was where some of you are now and I promise it gets better. This will be worth it!! Take care everyone.
