Nov 1st
Thank you everyone! The anxiousness of it all hit me full force last night, but I'm better today. I am fortunate in my pre-op diet that I still get to eat until the 28th. I do hope to lose 5 to 6 lbs more before surgery. For you all who are having surgery the same day as me, CONGRATULATIONS and you got this! For the veterans, thank you so much for your encouraging words and wisdom.

What else can be added to protein shakes?
I really like the premier shakes but in the liquid form. My NUT said the powder form doesn't have all the nutrients needed after WLS. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

October Sleevers
I will be on liquids for 2 weeks after surgery too. Stay strong! You can do this!!

Employer
It just depends on your situation. I told my boss pretty early on that I would be having surgery the end of Oct, early Nov. I carry a patient caseload that is usually booked out 4-6 weeks in advance. I had to prepare in advance for my surgery, so I wouldn't put undue stress on my co-worker. This way I also told my patients that I would be out for surgery and there will be a few weeks where I am unavailable.

Gas-x, should I use it?
If it is from the gas they put into your abdomen for surgery, Gas X won't help. If it's because you are swallowing air, then yes it should.

APPROVED!
I was just approved in 1 day, for surgery!!! Love Tricare Prime - South! I go next week for my pre-op class and get my surgery date. I will be having surgery within the next 4 weeks. I had an EGD on Friday, where I had to have my CO2 checked and an EKG. I have an irregular heartbeat and my body doesn't eliminate CO2 like it is supposed to. Two more reasons why I need this weight off for GOOD! I'm so stinkin excited I just can't stand it! WHOO HOO!!!!!

Pain drinking anything...3 days out
I don't know about your plan, but Protein shakes will go toward my daily liquid goal. So if you drank 60 oz of Protein shakes, you got 60 oz of liquids. Also, my NUT said that for the first week post op, drinking Water is the priority, to help avoid dehydration.

Abdomen feels like I'm going to give birth
You've had a tremendous amount of trauma done to your insides. Also, your Dr. filled you with CO2, to expand your abdomen, in order to get to your stomach. This is common with any abdominal surgery. It's also common to gain weight during this time because of the swelling. As others have said, walk, walk, walk. Good luck with everything.

Who's over 50 crowd
I'm 53! My paperwork has been sent to my insurance for approval. Surgery will be coming within the next month. Can't wait to join you bunch of losers.

BMI of 21 getting gastric sleeve... thoughts?
This is a joke, right???? Why do people troll? If this is a "real" person, I would be praying that the Dr. who approved to do this surgery is actually board-certified and licensed.

Pessimistic Psychologist
I would definitely talk with your surgeon, who is the subject-matter-expert. Your surgeon knows what is best for you.

The over 40 crowd
LET'S SEE SOME PICS!!! Excellent job. Can't wait to join you on the other side.

I'm having the sleeve in 4 days and I'm scared this is not something I should do
I would question the anti-inflammatory part. I have rheumatoid arthritis. My surgeon said "NO" to RNY but "YES" to VSG, so I am able to take steroids.

Coffee
Caffeine-free anytime. With my program, caffeine never again

Is PCOS and ANEMIA considered a co morbidity?
I would definitely get a sleep study done to see if you have sleep apnea. It is a co-morbidity. I have Tricare Prime. I never saw where PCOS was listed. I encourage you to visit the surgeon. Remember, don't stand tall when they measure your height. The shorter you are, the greater the BMI at your weight. lol Good luck with everything!

When can I stop using protein powder
My NUT told me I will need a Protein drink through the weight loss process, up until maintenance. As we've read on here though, everyone's program is different.
