What I meant was I've seen bad reviews about Dr MCCarty. Such as abusing alcohol and drugs, just wondered if they were really true

Well, I wouldn't have trusted him to do my surgery if I thought my life was in danger. I'm a wife & mom of 3 young girls.

How was the experience, I've been looking into his procedure but I've found so bad reviews . How's the weightloss been ?

I've had no trouble with it. I am down 50 lbs in 9 months. I am now 5'6 159 lbs. The thing with weight loss surgery is you think it's gonna be a quick fix. And it is in the beginning. For the first 4 months I lost 32 lbs. And I stayed there for 4 months. Then in February, I got serious about losing weight and I lost 18 lbs in 6 weeks. They say the gastric sleeve will only help you lose about 60% or so of excess weight, and that's the truth if you only rely on the surgery. I will forever have to watch what I eat, or I will gain. It's just easier to watch your intake when your stomach is small. But there are days of snacking throughout the day where before I know it I've eaten 2000+ calories. But if you follow a meal plan and stick to whole foods, you will lose. No matter what surgery you go through. I will never have it easy.

  3. I am feeling good but definitely a bit foggy. I am lucky with recovery - no real pain, just a bit uncomfortable at night if the gas comes back, but I rarely feel it! I was sleeved 7/7.

The only thing is my tongue feels yuk with some weird tastes!!

Awesome! We had good luck on 7/7!!!

    @@bini120 don't think that didn't cross my mind !

Maybe 7/7 was good luck. I had it that day as well and it almost feels like I didn't have anything done I felt so good from day 1.

  4. @@Swamprat You're lucky if you get ice chips!

@@tlyons72 I enjoyed the versed and I liked the propofol used for my endoscopy. That was the best sleep of my life! So you're not alone on that.

I'm on day 3 post op and got in 69 grams of Protein and 81 oz of fluids today. They're going down easy. I'll keep sipping Water until I fall asleep. Kind of amazed that I'm not having any issues with fluids. Must be one of the lucky ones.

Are you getting the majority of your protein from shakes? I'm having trouble taking in all my protein. It's like I have an aversion to protein

I literally feel like crying sometimes, and then I think about why I am having the surgery. My biggest fear is going under aneathesia.

My biggest fear was the anesthesia as well. But, while they were wheeling me down to the OR they gave me a shot of versed and I don't even remember making it to the OR. The next thing I remember was waking up in recovery and asking if it was all over and it was. I would've been more scared of I would've had the surgery in Mexico other than the U.S. Remember it's their job to make sure you wake up.

  6. Good luck everyone.

I am two days post op now. Woke up with some discomfort around 6:30 am and went for about a mile walk around the neighborhood. I think it really helped and since then I've been having no trouble slowly sipping fluids and passing gas. Trust me you want to pass gas anyway you can.

I'm supposed to start Protein Shakes today and I was able to get down 8oz of fairlife milk mixed with half a scoop of Quest Protein Powder. It took me about 4 hours- I napped somewhere in between. I'm sipping a cup of broth now and am also on my third 8 oz mini bottle of Water.

I was in a lot of distress last night and when I woke up this morning but the rest of the day has been manageable. So hang in there everybody. I'm also keeping up with regular doses of Tylenol with codeine which I'm sure is helping.

When I came home yesterday I was up 8lbs from my surgery day weight due to all the IV fluids but now I'm just 2 lbs up.

    Good for you!!

Yes I was in terrible pain as well I had my procedure on Wednesday 7/6 I left the hospital a few hours after surgery.. I feel so much better on day #4 my right side is still sore and feels the worse but I'm unable to drink any fluid.. Water hurts to go down.. Any suggestions on how you were able to take down your liquids. I did check the scale and I've lost 8 pounds since Wednesday but I'm still worried because of the liquids

I'm day 2 post op and let me tell you, I feel amazing compared to the day of surgery and day after. My gas is moving on down like it should and that buys me a lot of comfort. I just finished drinking 8 oz of water in about a 30 minute span. I'm having trouble with full liquids but I'm gonna try my hand at it again. I've lost 7 lbs since surgery. And my bmi was just under 35 the day of surgery.

  7. My surgery was yesterday at 10. Everything went well. I had trouble waking up from the anesthesia. So I slept a lot. Pain was not bad all. I had what's called the Dr. Mccarty mini sleeve so there is only 2 small incisions, he takes the stomach out through your mouth like an EGD. Less down time. 2 incisions One in my belly button and one below my rib cage. I am in my hotel room and will be driving back home with my kids today. We are in Dallas and ready to get away from all this police shootings. I haven't had trouble drinking except for the very beginning. I couldn't leave the hospital until I passed my 8oz Water challenge. And as soon as got to my room drinking wasn't that big of a deal.

I'm hoping to do the McCarty mini sleeve too! I have a phone consult with him next Wednesday. (I'm in Oklahoma)

  9. I had a consultation 2 weeks ago and then I signed up for the soonest opening which will be July 7th. I do the pre op stuff the day before surgery. No psych evaluation or GI scans. I also go to a nutrition class during my pre op. If they don't have to mess with insurance it's as fast as you want it to be!
