  1. I am in the UK. I thought long and hard about each type of surgery and quite honestly I could not decide which one. Each had the benefits and disadvantaged. So I was offered the opportunity of entering a research trial where a computer randomised me into a surgery. It choose a band and I can truly say I am happy with this decision. I am a great believer that everything happens for a reason.

  2. Since my weight loss I am excited to go into "normal" shops and I feel the begining of another addiction....... Shopping!!! But there are times when I wonder what my style is????? Never the less, I sometimes just go into stores to try on the clothes to see how my shape is changing ..... I've also noticed I have now moved from my traditional anything in black to more vibrant colours. Loving my band

  3. Hi

I had mine (band) in Birmingham. We had to do a 6 month education programme, where you attend once a month for 6 months. Then you see a dietician again, get referred to the weight

Loss consultant, then to a surgeon and then the waiting list. It does take time but it gave me the time to think about the surgery and really make up my

    Mind

    Hope that helps

  4. I had my band on 2nd June. With the 10days pre op diet and 3 weeks after I lost 2.5 stone. Which in my world is AMAZING. But two weeks with a stall I am now begining to get a little freaked out. What happens if it doesn't come off. I am reading the messages each day and gathering a lot of strength from them. Reminding myself this is ok, everyone looses at a different speed. I have to believe in a years time I will have lost weight!!! Keep following the plan and know you are not alone. I'm also from the UK.

  5. I cannot lie the pre op diet is awfull. However because it is a choice between sticking to the diet or no operation, then you develop a determination you didn't know you had. Pre op I made the familly meals, then post op I made meals, made an afternoon tea for the familly, sat in a restaurant while the familly ate. Remember it is only for 6 weeks where as the effects of the surgery will be with you for lifetime. Wishing you all the best.

  6. I had my band on 2nd June. If i drank too fast or too much then I would get a tightness under the ribs and some burping. I could drink as much Water or juice as I wanted without feeling full but anything else I was limited with. Try slowing down when drinking and notice if the tightness eases. If the feelings do not go away then call your team. In the UK I can contact the dietitians every day with any worries. Hope you feeling better soon.

  7. Hi Stuart

I had my band on 2nd June. As long as you stick to the eating plan your team give you, then things should move forward.

The only problems I have found are extreme tiredness and a few loose stools (nice!!).

The first few days were taken with siping as much as i could. I also had a lot of wind as they put a lot of gas into your stomach in the operation, but that settles down.

Overall I have absolutely NO regrets, just take things slowly and listen to your body.

A couple of tips I would recommend is:

    1) always carry a little sachet of hot chocolate / Soup / horlicks. Just in case your plans during the day change. If you need something then you have it with you.

    2) I have a lunch box ready for the next stages. I brought two side plates and a tablespoon. I intend to carry it with me everywhere, so I can eat he correct portion sizes.

Good luck, it is worth all the effort.
