  1. Hi all! I am about 4 months away from my 2 year anniversary of my surgery. I have lost over 90 lbs which is great. The problem I am having is that I have stayed at the same weight for easily 6 months, although there has been some difference in how clothing fits, showing that I have still lost a bit but not much. I have gotten back into a very bad sugar/carb habit and am able to eat more food more easily. I have some health conditions that makes it hard for me to do much exercise and causes a lot of fatigue. I need a re-set button or something. I have come too far. I don't really know what I need, except maybe an overhaul of my diet again. Having said that, I KNOW what I need to do, but seem to lack motivation to take charge of it and starting to get that helpless feeling over my sugar urges that I had pre-surgery and was so proud that I had overcome it. Anyone else going or have gone through this and have some advice? I would really like to lose another 15 lbs as my dr. says we will often gain about 10% of our loss back in year 3 and want to be in a better position to make sure I don't gain back. Any advice appreciated!

  2. - When one day you suddenly realize that men are rushing to open doors for you and giving you more than a once over everywhere you go! Been a long time!

-When you fly and not only do you not need a belt extender, but you are perfectly comfortable with room to spare.

-When you are wrapping string around your rings like you did with your HS boyfriends class ring trying to buy time until you know what size you will actually be before paying to resize them!

-When you giving away all your clothes without fear because you know you will never need them again.

-When you can wear leggings and look GOOD.

-When you can go into any store and find clothes that fit (also can be a problem)

-When you are excited about shopping (again, a problem!!! :) )

-When not being able to get a King size bed at a hotel isn't a crisis anymore!

    - Going to a family gathering and sitting on the floor Indian style playing with the kids and your whole extended family looks at you in shock!

    - And finally, hosting a birthday party for your 10 year old boys and hearing one of the little boys say, "Dude, your Mom is HOT". Disturbing.....yes. But I am not gonna lie....I smiled a little.

  3. When you ask your 9 year old twins if they want to go out back and play some soccer with Mom, and they drop their video games with a look of pure joy and race each other out the door and you actually play soccer and stay out there until it is dark without breaks and your kids tell you how proud they are of you and how much fun they had. Best. Feeling. Ever. And I am only 12 weeks in. Can't imagine what this might be like in another few months!!

  4. Ah seems like we have similar problems here, I'm 8 weeks out.. Does your dizziness come after you stand up quickly?

    Sure!

  5. Hi all! Thanks for your comments and concern. I ended up calling the surgeon and she sent me to the hospital for Fluid infusion and tests. Turns out my potassium was really low, so I also got 4 bags of potassium infused and on a supplement now. I could really tell a difference after and it is supposed to be even better tomorrow. I have struggled with diarrhea and they think that contributed to it. Can't wait to see how I feel tomorrow!

  6. Hi! I am 8 days post op and in the "full liquid" stage. I have been eating creamed Soups, like cream of chicken, cream of Potato, etc. I put it in the blender with some milk and unflavored Protein Powder and blend it up real good. That has been pretty good. Also Greek yogurt and sugar free pudding and added Carnation vanilla mix for Protein. So far, it has been goo. Not sure if that is much help, but that's what I have tried so far! Good luck!

  7. hi all! I am 6 days post op. First week was Clear Liquids. Tonight, started full liquids. I blended up Cream of chicken Soup And it went down great. Then, I ventured on to a sugar free fudge pop. All was well. Then out of the blue....dIarrhea...3 times in the past hour. Is this normal? Does it mean I am not ready? Or is my body just catching up? Is this dumping? I didn't have sugar. Anyone else have This? Thanks for any help....I don't see doc until Wed.

  8. Hi! Just got home....surgery was at1:30 yesterday. Not gonna sugar coat it for you.....I have had a rough time, but nothing I couldn't get through. I slept a lot and also walked a lot. To me, the nausua is the worst. I wake up with it and the only relief is my brief bought a with sleep. I have some other conditions that flared up since I had to go off some of my meds that help with that sort of thing. Anyhow, I am glad t be home but my care was top notch....best nursing care I have ever received. I am having trouble staying awake to write this so better end it. So glad it is over and am on the losers side! I now declare July 5 as my Independence Day!

  9. I can't believe he has you on Protein shakes already! My diet will be strict Clear liquids only for the first week, then on to Protein Shakes, etc. I am sorry you are having such a hard time!

My Dr requires us to drink Protein Shakes on day 2 in the hospital. I am glad!

Wow, isn't it interesting how very different all the pre-op diets, post-op diets and requirements are from doctor to doctor? Mine is being done in a Surgery Center, not the hospital and there is no catheter, like I have heard several talk about. Also, they said my stay was 23 hours but I have read about a lot who are required to stay for 3 nights. So hard to know what to expect! I have had several surgeries, including back surgery and both the nurse and doctor tell me this will be the easiest one. I HOPE SO!!!

  10. Hi all! I am about 4 days out from having surgery....did you guys throw up a lot or is it just constant sick feeling? I am trying to decide if I need help after surgery or if I can manage on my own for the most part when the hubby takes kids to some soccer camps, etc. like I have with other surgeries.

    Thanks!

  11. Ok, be honest....has anyone cheated even a little on the pre-op? It is day 5 and I even had a great day......BUT, I got home and next thing you know, I had 2 potato chips with dip and a meatball! I am annoyed with myself. I have 5 more days to go and I KNOW 4th of July will be hard. Sigh.

Try to select Protein if you have to cheat. You need to avoid carbs - as your body will come out of ketosis and you don't want that to happen (you'll be back at day 1). Be sure to have things on your diet handy at all times. It's very difficult but you can do it!

Ok, thank you! So, do you think I screwed it up with the two chips and dip? I have 5 days left..........

On the good side, I bought a pair of shorts to go to a Sporting KC game around Father's Day (because none of mine fit), and now I am holding them up as I walk around!!

Don't beat your self up, it happens. I have 4 days left and I've stuffed up a couple of times just my habit. When making food for my siblings and I taste it to make sure it's cooked enough, and then I realise 'oh ****'. Can't really do much after you've swallowed it. As long as your making the effort and don't just ride the whole day off from a little slip up you'll be fine I reckon. What date if your surgery??

Mine is July 5th. When is yours?

  13. I went to a family barbecue today on day 2 of my pre-op diet. My sisters asked a lot of questions but in a supportive way. My mother on the other hand asked me why I couldn't just stick to the diet a few more weeks and lose the weight Like other people do And then had the nerve to act put out that I didn't tell her it was going to be on the 5th of July! People just don't understand the struggle we have gone through for years before trying this so we can get our life back.
