  1. I would follow your surgeons plan as to when you can have carbonated beverages. Most likely that's not on the approved list at 15 days post op. I could be wrong as every surgeons plan is different.

My surgeon's plan did allow carbonated beverages (and straws) but I wasn't allowed that until 30 days post op.

I enjoy one Cherry Coke Zero a day.

You enjoy one Coke Zero Cherry a day yet you support the other gal?? That doesn't make much sense to me.

  2. She really wasn't being rude. Everything she said is absolutely correct. And a lot of people did follow their post op plan set by their surgeon perfectly.

And I have too. It's Coke Zero for goodness sake. No calories and it was one sip. Most importantly, I was asking a simple question.

  3. Why go against what your doctor told you this early out? Not to sound rude, but there are rules in place for reasons. No, it may not have bothered you, but you knew going into this that things would be off limits... some of them for months, some forever. The taste of cake, or a chip or two, or a piece of garlic bread may not bother you either, but if you start 'breaking the rules' only a few days out of surgery, you are setting yourself up for failure down the road.

The first year is the easy part... following the rules are to set you up for success after the honeymoon phase is over.

It's not a game to see what your new pouch can handle.

Well, you do sound rude. I truly doubt that you have been absolutely perfect. I was asking a question, which is what this forum is for. Not for people like you to place judgement. I don't have a bad relationship with food. That is not what got me here and you know nothing about me so with all due respect take your holier than now opinion elsewhere.

  4. Congrats on your achievement so far! My surgeon told me to write myself a note and put it somewhere I'd see it regularly that 2-3 weeks following surgery my weight loss would stop. He said it's the body taking a moment to sort of recalibrate itself after such a big loss so quickly. It's nothing worry about and totally normal. It will kick back into gear again soon. :)

That's awesome. I wish I was given the heads up like that. I may weigh tomorrow and see if the scale has moved.

  5. I was allowed to try eggs in the puréed food stage so I cooked basically a sunny side egg and mashed it with a fork til it was good and floppy(like I fed my babies when they were eating mushy foods). It went well for me, but some people have a really hard time with egg especially in the beginning so if it doesn't work, table it for awhile and try again later.

Thanks for the reply. I tried deviled eggs but the egg whites didn't taste too great. I used to love sunny side up eggs so we'll have to see. However, my favorite way of having one is on a piece of toast. Alas, that chapter is over.

  6. It's not advised ever to drink carbonated beverages because it can do damage to your pouch, but I don't know of any surgeon anywhere who is going to tell you it is ok at 15 days post op mainly because your stomach is still healing and that fresh suture line will never be able to hold up to the acidity of that soda nor to the gas from the carbonation. It's really just a bad idea.

Never thought of the suture issue. I thought it was just the gas problem. Thanks for the input.

  7. I am 15 days post op and would love a sip or two of Coke Zero. Has anyone had any carbonated beverage or diet soda? I know it's a no no but wonder if anyone has had it. My Mom is 10 years post and and loves Coke. Probably has 1-2/day and hasn't gained a pound since losing 150lbs. I know everyone is different.

  8. I asked the same stupid question so don't feel bad at all. I'm stalled, (I think, havent weighed in a few days) and then upon Googling I noticed that it's a very common concern, especially around the 3 week mark. However, I can tell in how my clothes are fitting that I'm doing just fine. Do read @@Inner Surfer Girls link; great info from her there.

  9. Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. Everyone stalls and just about everyone experiences a stall about three weeks after surgery.

    Just follow your program.

    Track your food.

Focus on getting in all of your Protein and at least 64 oz of Fluid.

Avoid added sugars (especially high fructose corn syrup), starches, and fried foods.

Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed.

    Exercise when cleared.

    Stay off the scale.

    And, Embrace the Stall

Thanks @@Inner Surfer Girl! I haven't heard of a stall this soon in. I will try to focus on getting enough Protein because I'm doing everything else right, especially my h2o intake.

  10. They say there's a 3rd week stall. We're coming up on that. I've read that it passes eventually. So far I'm still losing and have lost 28 pounds.

Wow!!! That's amazing, congrats. If you don't mind me asking, what was your starting weight? I am thinking that I'm not eating enough too. I usually can get down 1 Protein shake and a couple spoonfuls of cottage cheese. I will also have a sugar free Popsicle but that's about it. What do you think?
Thanks! My starting weight was 338 lbs and I'm 6 ft tall. I mostly get in three meals a day which consists of 4 oz of Protein each. I also have a Popsicle as well. Otherwise thats about it.

Ok, Gotcha. How many grams is 4 Oz?
Sorry, one more question. How do you get your protein? shakes?

  13. I'm in Western Australia and I'm flying by myself to Thailand for surgery. I fly in this Wednesday evening and will be admitted to hospital Thursday afternoon for Friday morning surgery. I'll be in Thailand for just over 2 weeks before I fly home again. ????

That sounds like quite the adventure. Why Thailand? Have you been before? That's on my bucket list. I hope everything went well for you!!!!
