When I started my journey my insurance company Aetna approved me to have the duodenal surgery. Got my letter in the mail I called my surgeon's office and scheduled an August 25th surgery date yesterday on August 19th I went back in to see the surgeon for the last time before surgery and he says well I think we should leave you sleeved my mouth dropped. I know guys this is great news it really is but I've spent the last three months researching the duodenal switch. So my surgeon says well take the weekend and think about it I'm like okay so now I will spend the next 48 hours researching this leave so that I can call the surgeon on Monday so that they can call my insurance company and now get me approved for the sleeve. So just a quick recap when I started my journey I was 240 pounds I stand 5 foot 3 I had a BMI of 35 and yes Aetna did approve me for the duodenal switch yesterday I weighed in at 2:19 and I'm also diabetic insulin dependent for 25 years and 45 years old so I guess ultimately I did a pretty good job what do you think

It might be several things. For example a lack of Iron could cause it. Since you are dieting, you are probably not consuming foods with significant Iron therefore you may need to take iron supplements. sublingual B12 may help to raise your energy levels. Not drinking enough fluids each day can cause your body to become dehydrated which can cause sleepiness and tiredness.

Today marks 4 weeks post op it has been a roller coaster of emotions, but over all I am SO happy! I can already see a huge difference in my self confidence. I feel great! There are moments when I miss comfort food and start to feel sorry for myself, but I just try to remind myself of my ultimate goal; to be healthy and that junk food isn't worth it!
I've gotten sick twice (thrown up), I think from eating too fast, or too much. I'm still learning how much my stomach can handle, how slow to chew/swallow and everything. I'm super nervous about my first dumping, I know it will happen eventually... I just hope it isn't as bad as I'm expecting and that I'm not out in public and poop my pants or something
Here is my pre op diet pic (wt 233) night before surgery (221.7) and today-4 weeks post op 201.7) down 20 lbs since surgery. I can really tell a difference in my face! Every time I look in the mirror now I do a double take. And I don't avoid mirrors anymore!

Same boat. In fact, I had the sleeve surgery mainly to control my sugar. I was disappointed the first week because it was still over 200 but I learned from previous ways of eating, that it takes a few weeks to lower. Don't get discouraged! It WILL come down. I was on metformin, Victoza, and glipizide before surgery. I took myself off the victoza and glipizide but still take metformin. My sugars are always good and I will find out my a1c in August.
Good things come to good people.
