  1. That's awesome!!! Congrats! It will be really rough in the beginning but totally worth it!
  2. I was banded May 4 and have lost 20 lbs since my surgery. I have had one fill of 2 ccs. I can say I have been stuck at this 20 lbs for about 2-3 weeks! I, too, get full eating half of a meal (or 3/4) but I am hungry 1-2 hours later. I go for another fill on July 11 and am hoping that helps! I also started working out a gym last week, so hopefully that will do me some good too!
  3. Haha Waterboy! We actually have a team here and I know some girls on it! It MIGHT be something I would consider in the future, but I am SO unsteady on my own feet, let alone on skates! I also hate getting hurt and I bruise more easily than a freakin banana so yeah...we'll see, lol
  4. I'm pretty sure its the protein! and possibly with a little help from the vitamins (for example, prenatal vitamins make your hair and nails grow as well and my friend can't swallow pills so instead she takes 2 Flinstones vitamins...just like me!)
  5. My hubby likes bigger girls too and I was afraid at one point that he would be less attracted to me (and he was afraid I would run off after becoming 'hot and skinny') but like these other girls said, he loves me for me regardless of my size...bigger or smaller (I was 100 lbs smaller when he met me) and I know I will still love him just as much no matter what size either of us are. If he loved you enough to marry you, I'm sure it wasn't only because you are a big beautiful lady
  6. Thanks for this post! I only have 2cc in my band so far (banded 5-4-11) and am DYING to get my next fill in July! I am stuck at a 20lb loss but have just started a workout program today so I'm hoping that will help!
  7. Woohoo for roller derby! Roller derby is totally badass! I would do it if I wasn't such a puss, lol
  8. I was banded last month and have a blog as well! link in my signature oh and Im following you now!
  9. I had no pre-op diet requirements and it was only suggested I do clear liquids after midnight until my surgery (which was 12:30 pm the next day). It surprised me too, but it was also pretty great
  10. I told the people closest to me in the beginning stages (in case my insurance said no or something) but after my surgery pretty much everyone in my family and at work knew (which is why I was not about to try to keep it a secret). I also blog about it to help educate people on my experience and so my family can keep up with my weight loss as well. I talk about it to everyone and anyone who asks. I haven't had a lot of negative comments but I do get a lot of questions which I don't mind at all. Good luck!
  11. No problem ladies! Glad I could help!
  12. I wrote a very detailed experience of my first fill on my recent blog post! Link is in my signature! Hope it helps!
  13. That I don't know! It really just depends on how your band does throughout your pregnancy (I would assume)
  14. Having a c-section with the band is no different than without a band! They go much lower than your port, or band, or any of the tubing will ever go so you should be fine!
  15. Yay! Congrats on your bandiversary and those tips are AWESOME! I will have to come back here whenever I am having a hard time and need some good advice
  16. I chose the band because RYN scared me! I did not want my insides cut up and re-arranged. If something goes wrong, or you regain your weight you are stuck that way. I know a few people who get the band AFTER RYN because they have regained weight. I also liked the band because it can be removed if something goes wrong, or if I get pregnant I can remove Fluid instead of stretching out my stomach, and there is no malabsorbtion. I am fine with having to eat right because I need to do that anyway to stay successful for life. Of course, there are complications and they aren't always fun (errosion, band slippage, ulcers, etc) but they aren't all as serious as RNY complications. I also like that the band is adjustable. If I have not met my goal but I am at a plateau for a long time, or I feel I have lost restriction, I can get a fill! I can't tell you which is better because everyone has their preference, but that is why I preferred the band to RNY.(I also agree with everything Dawn said above! She is also right.)
  17. Thanks rrr! I spread my Protein shake out throughout the day today and that seemed to help a bit! I plan to do the same thing tomorrow with my mushies! As for the Chat...I have never been on it!
  18. I am bandster hell right along with you folks! My doctor's diet for me right now (I'm 5 days post op) is full liquids but only 2 oz per meal! So I eat 2 oz of Cream of Wheat or Oatmeal for bfast, then I drink 20 oz protien shake throughout the morning, 2 oz of either a creamed soup or instant mashed potatoes for lunch, then I have to try to drink 2 bottles of water for the rest of the night and 2 oz of instant mashed potatoes for dinner...and let me tell you..I AM STARVING. And not just hungry, like my hunger pains get so bad in the afternoons that it HURTS BAD. It feels like bloating but then my stomach growls! I went back to work today and it wasn't too bad but I was tired by 10 am and starving only an hour after eating lunch Im trying to get all my liquids and protein in but I am STILL HUNGRY! I am going to try to eat more Jello and broth to help but I doubt it will help as much as I need it to. I have no intention of cheating but I am completely miserable! I get to start mushies on Wednesday and I am desperately helping it will be better, but again, my meals will only be 2 oz at a time :/ and I am not seeing my doctor until June 2 (and praying for a fill then too). Wish me luck!
  19. Yay congrats! I have a CLOSET full of clothes that I haven't been able to wear for years and I can't wait to have one of these moments! Needless to say, I will be shouting it from the rooftops!
  20. I have asked WW about this myself and they said if I needed proof I was there I should use my bank statements. I didn't end up having to prove it but it may work!
  21. Hey fellow May Bandsters! I had my surgery on Wednesday (May 4th)! My incisions are definitely causing me the most pain...but only when I get up or down. I am pretty bloated and that is most of the pain that I feel (along with hunger pangs, but I can't always tell them apart!). Hopefully, I'll be passing gas soon! (I never thought I would be excited about that!) Once I start doing that regularly I can start on my protein shakes so help fill me up better. Last night I had some chicken broth for dinner and today I had about 1.5 oz of Cream of Wheat. I couldn't finish it though because I was starting to feel funny and I didn't want to hurt anything! And for lunch I just had about 2.5 oz of strained potato soup and it was delicious! The burrito my hubby was eating smelled amazing but I wasn't in the mood to eat it anyway. I am too afraid to even THINK about real food. Right now I'm just more concerned about not eating too much because PBing would HURT like a mother! I hiccuped twice today and it SUCKED! If you want to read more about my surgery day you can check out my blog! Just wanted to share that I had my surgery and I am still alive!
  22. My surgery was today by Dr. Diaz!! I am in my hosp room right now chillaxin! I was in the 4/21 pre-op class! I was up front with my mom
  23. Hey Tia! Me too! Were you in the Pro-Op class? Are you who I talked to about coming here?
