  5. I really love the california sprouted Grain bread from Alvarado st. Bakery. I absolutely love this bread!! I find it in the freezer section, and I keep it in the fridge. Its best toasted in my opinion. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  6. Lol, I have a tiny scale, meant for small bathrooms, it is like 3 inches x 5 inches. Lol. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  7. My surgery is Aug 8th too! I really want to get the fitbit scale, my cousin told me how great it is. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  8. Hey there! Im going thru richmond kaiser with Dr. Im. I have my meeting with the case manager on Monday and was told I will receive an august survey date. I'm more than excited. I felt during our group class that the case manager was a bit mean... How was your appointment with her? Sent from my Z828 using the BariatricPal App Ya, she's a bit...... intense I guess. Lol. She totally intimidates me. I guess she has to be like that though to make sure that people follow through with the meal plan and do what they are supposed to do. She was definitely very straightforward during my 1 on 1 appt with her. But I made sure to bring my food journal with me and I'm glad I did. August 8th is my surgery date for sure, maybe even sooner if someone cancels. I wish you luck! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  9. OMG I LOVE MY FITBIT ALTA. I was just telling my husband how excited I was to hit every single one of my goals today. Lol. Our stats from today are super similar!! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  10. I will.also be having surgery and have to recover with a 2 1/2 yr old. I am going to see if my MIL can watch him for a few days for me to get back on my feet after. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  11. Ok, so I'm with Kaiser, and the bariatric nutritionist, case manager, and surgeon have all told me that as bariatric patients, we can only absorb Calcium CITRATE, and never to take it at the same time as Iron. They say that the calcium found in food and milk is insufficient. I was told to take Centrum adult chewables as a Multivitamin, as well as supplementary Iron, calcium citrate, and sublingual B12. Since even with a multivitamin, not enough is consumed. Thats just what I've had drilled into me during all of my visits how important Vitamins are, and I will be following exactly what they tell me to do so I don't become anemic, or have weak bones, or lose my hair as bad. So its interesting to me how different hospitals and nutritionists have different views on Vitamins. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  12. Ok, so my cousin just helped me fix the infalted steps issue. She had me switch the "handedness" option to my left hand, even though I am right handed, but wear the fitbit on my left. She said that if it's on your non dominant hand, it will inflate steps since you don't use that arm as much, but if its on your dominant hand, it won't since thats the hand that naturally moves more. I proved this to be true while we were walking today and I had my app out, and it was much more accurate! So try switching the handedness to whichever hand you are wearing your fitbit on and see if that helps. It helped me. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  13. I'm August 8th as well ! #newstart DSLdiversity Awesome! Im having VSG at Richmond, CA Kaiser. How about you? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  14. LMFAO that happens to me when I chew Ice Chips!!! I feel so goofy! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  15. August 8th for me! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  16. I am set for VSG surgery in Richmond, CA on 8/8/2016! Is there anyone else here with the same surgery date? I am on a cancellation list, so it could possibly be sooner than that, but for now, its Aug. 8th! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  17. Also, I have not yet been to a support group in VV yet. They are the 1st, and 3rd Monday.of every month, except July 4th one is cancelled. I was told today that I need to attend at least 1 support group before surgery, so I will be going to the 3rd Monday in July for my first one. The Case manager told me "Since you live in VV, there should be no excuses!" Because I told her I missed last month's because I took my grandma to the ER. Oh, also, I am bummed because she told me I have to get on Birth Control! Ugh. Ive been off of BC for over a year, and its done wonders for my monthly cycle, as well as assisted in weight loss. My husband and I have been using condoms, but she said I will need to get either the implanon which I hated, or the IUD, which I won't ever get, or the shots. So I am making am appt to start the shots simce thats the lesser of the 3 evils. Lol. She said no BC pills!! Which sucks. But oh well, I'm still happy! 18. The Case manager appt was intense. She is VERY serious. I could tell that she truly wants us to succeed. She requires you to have yur questionnaire filled out, and the consent form signed. I also brought my food journal. She asked which of the goals in our binder I have met, as well as which ones I am still working on. I hd.to explain to her thay I've stopped drinking, even after I had the 1 sangria the weekend after orientation, I was truthful and have not had a drop since. It was very straightforward and to the point. She explained the Vitamins and told me where to get them and to start taking them now. It was intimidating, but I'm so ready for this that I was well prepared for the surprise appt. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  19. Surgery date is 8/8/16!!!! My psych approved me right away, and there was an appt with the case manager right away, so I was able to see her before I left. She approved me and gave me the date. I am on the cancellation list so it could be sooner than that. I am waiting right now to get my EKG done while I'm here, so things are moving quickly!!! I have my classes scheduled for 7/5/16, and my physical for 7/7/16. So after that, It's just a waiting game!!!! I was lucky that the case manager happened to have an appt today after her meeting. Otherwise I would have to drive back here from VV another day. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  20. I got my FitBit Alta a few days ago, and I have noticed that it does inflate steps sometimes at a 1:3 ratio. Its a bummer since I love it so much, but I just make sure to remember that my steps arent always exactly what it says they are. I do love the sleep monitoring, distance, and calories burned features though! So its worth it for me. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  21. So the Psych called today and rescheduled my appt from July 19 to tomorrow! I am so relieved not to have to stress out for another 3 weeks! I should be meeting with the case manager soon after tomorrow to get a surgery date!!!! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  22. I specifically chose VSG surgery instead of bypass because of the ability to take NSAIDS after surgery, I have a previous back injury that requires me to take motrin from time to time. My surgeon here at Richmond, Ca Kaiser helped me to make that choice, and I believe it is the right one for me, so I can manage my back pain. With the bypass, you are forever supposed to avoid them, with VSG, it is more tolerable. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  23. Your dedication and determination is amazing!!!!! You knew what was right for you, and you made it happen. I applaud you for that. You look great, congrats!!!!! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  24. Absolutely! Its an awesome way to make sure your informed and can succeed after surgery. There are offered classes here that are optional too, but not required. It's just interesting to me how the same hospital network can function differently in NorCal and SoCal. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  25. Oh wow! NorCal Kaiser doesn't require a 24 week Options Class. We just had a 4hr orientation/nutritional class. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
