I have been home for 2 days now. Healing yes but still have the drain and unfortunately the output is up today and it is very bright blood not watered down. I have a call into my surgeon.Any update? Are you out of the hospital and healing?

Well I'm still in the hospital being a human pin cushion for the lab ladies (I'm a hard stick). Blood counts aren't staying up where they would like them and still having. Blood in the JP drain. I'm so over this

Well I'm still in the hospital for night 3 now. I developed a hematoma after surgery and now my blood counts are too low fir me to be released. The drain site is really the only thing that is painful at this point.

It is what my Dr recommends I guess so everything will be cleaned out as much as possible in case of an accident.Good luck to you! Why do you have to take magnesium citrate? I have my surgery on Sunday, but this is the first I've heard of that.

Tomorrow (7/20) is the big day. I arrive at 5:30am surgery 7:30am and hopefully home the next day if all goes well. I will say these last two weeks of liquid diet have been challenging. Yes I cheated early on with a few baby dill pickles and the texture of a Protein Shake makes me gag but I'm through it. The next two weeks of liquids will present their own challenges but bring them on. I don't know if working 9 days straight with a packed schedule had just exhausted me or if I'm just not nervous yet. Now for the bottle of magnesium citrate for dinner :/. Here we go to the next exciting chapter.

Your post was incredibly brave and admitting and accepting you have a problem is the hardest thing to do. I deal with a food addiction but I also have a mother that is an alcoholic. She never wanted to do anything about her problem and to live through the devastation of it personally was one of the hardest things. I will say it is one heck of a beast so I wouldn't suggest going it alone. You need someone that has been there done that. That's kinda what this place is for us. I would suggest going to some type of group meeting having a sponsor is the best thing you can do.

I have the same surgery date! Although I am on day 8 of liquids.Hope I can join yall. I'm scheduled for surgery on Wednesday 7/20. I'm on day 5 of preop all liquids. Hanging in there. It hasn't been as bad as I thought but I have a house full of people and still have to do the grocery shopping which is pretty rough! My high weight was 217 and I've lost 8 lbs so far on liquids.

I think it depends on the Dr. I've been told I am going to get a drain because that's protocol for my Dr.Why do some get drains and others don't?

Glad to hear it and that's what we are here for to support each other, give a little nudge, and get each other in line when we need it. Keep in touch.Thanks. That was an awesome reply. You are right! Hang in there with the pre-op diet. They moved my surgery to Aug 1 which was better for my work schedule. So I'm keeping the date!

My thought is you've waited this long and done the hard work might as well bite the bullet and embrace your new life style . My date is 7/20 so on day 5 of my liquid diet. Literally cried over Jello last night lol. The closer it gets the more apprehensive I become but after a stern talking to and asking the question "Why the heck would I want to delay a happier healthier me" I drink another Protein shake and keep myself busy. Change is hard and we are chasing our lives in the biggest possible way. It helped me to remember the reasons I started this journey and keeps me chugging along.I'm getting nervous. Thinking about Pushing the date out till after our vacation during Labor Day. My friend that have had it say get it over with ..you'll be glad you did.

If you don't feel comfortable get a second opinion and do more research. My Dr suggested that i change from the Band to Sleeve and that rattled me so I understand. But the more research I did and the more I talked to him I realized he had my best interest with his recommendations.

I have a couple scheduled for follow up. Trying to be prepared as much as I can.
I would consider scheduling an appointment. With all of the hormonal changes after WLS - it's good to have support.
Yes I have been in therapy but haven't needed to see her on a regular basis for quite a while now.@@smartj84 Are you in therapy to deal with your eating disorder? I think that would be helpful pre-surgery.

So I am on day 2 of my liquid diet and yes I'm barreling through. Yes I had a string cheese stick and tiny orange my first day. Second day is easier than my first but the restriction of food is triggering the binge eating desire. I am fully aware I can't now and can't after surgery which is the main reason i haven't given in.
My question is are there any others with BED with any suggestions. I also know this isn't easy I'm not looking for it to be just tips for the trigger.

Just got my date this week. Looks like I'm joining you guys on the 20th.

The beauty of muscles is that after a while they give up that they are being over used and quit sending pain signals. Most of us didn't gain 100lbs in the matter of months it took a little time. Since you are losing at a fast rate the muscles are basically saying WTF and will start and try their new homeostasis in your body. Yoga would be great as well as stretching. Just my opinion as a LMT

I am self pay and I had to go through the steps. Phyc eval, hpylori test, over view class, group meeting, sleep study, surgeon consult, dietitian meeting, monthly weigh ins. It has taken me 3 months and I'm scheduled for July 20. I have no pre existing conditions.
-
Well now I am set for July 20
-
So the date just got set July 20 holy crap talk about nerves setting in real fast like.

I think most are concerned after surgery since you really can't have solid foods for a good 4 weeks and the 2 week liquid diet before. I've also seen where you just aren't eating a whole lot to measure up to 60g of Protein a day. Since 1oz is only 7g of protein I can see the difficulty if you aren't eating that much.
-
I'm self pay and the program I'm going through i had to complete a lot of pre reqs and the process has taken just a little over 3 months. Hope to have surgery the end of July.
-
In previous surgeries I could replace them with a plastic retainer I'm asking my Dr tomorrow if that would be possible. I too have some that i don't want to have to get redone.
Ok so how bad is this gonna hurt?

I had complications after surgery that resulted in a 5 night stay and a blood transfusion. I was in real pain I'd say an 8 or 9 on a pain scale. I still have pain and I'm 2 weeks out but mainly at my drain site. I now have developed gas under my right shoulder and sweet baby Jesus I thought I was having a heart attack.
