  1. My drs listed the Protein carnation shakes on the DO NOT LIST. (Not sure why maybe it does not have enough Protein. I used a banana when Dr approved but used 1/2. The PB powders are good. Try Protein Powder in plain yogurt. strawberry and Banana powders were my favorite. Got sick of sweet flavors. At some point you just cant take another shake and hopefully you are on to purred by then and then 1 shake a day or yogurt with protein is not so bad.

  2. Get an isolate whey shake 99% lactose free. I got the gold standard but take a look at vitacost.com free shipping and quick. ** Caution on eggs I have heard people get really sick on scrambled eggs. Didnt your Dr have Nurses and Dietitians to give you info? I had two in person classes, 2 mandatory videos and 4 months of appointments. Plus the two week preop diet. I have followed all exactly and have moved on to soft foods per Drs ok. Good luck!

  3. Who ever wrote milk is no nutritional value umm hello? Protein among other good Vitamins. The best Protein shake and plain yogurt (add Protein powder). I became lactose intolerant and the extra protein milk products gave was missed when I went to coconut. Any way if you can keep it up the protein will help you fill full. Too bad someone else cant cook for the kids or put the kids on your post op diet. Lean meats and veggies - no need to cook two meals. I had the full gastric bypass and was on soft foods by week 3 Dr approved. Jars of peaches, cream of wheat (yum), yogurt plain, no sugar added applesauce, canned pumpkin. Also I am hypoglycemic, perhaps you had that going on (low blood sugar) or were dehydrated. Put yourself and nutrition first for the post op healing your family will survive on healthy foods too. I am so lucky my family really helped and if they did eat 'bad' they did at restaurants without me! Don't give up!

  4. Plant fusion is my favorite Protein powder most whole foods or you can order from vitacost.com. I became lactose intolerant a week post op after surgery. my whey powders are 'isolate' whey and that has the least amount of milk - almost none - so I am able to use it. Sooo delicious plain coconut yogurt and plain coconut milks are my favorite alternatives. I can now eat cheese so am going to try dairy yogurt when i can but scared. Then they say you can try milk. In the meantime until you can eat something like deli meat i used Protein gel packs from the 'bariatric source' to get enough protein.

  5. I am week 4+ and loving it. I was scared to go out at first (not sure of what maybe being sick). I just take a freezer lunch bag with yogurt, Protein liquid gel, or anything I may need. Oh and a big thing of Water. I got to start soft foods early because i became lactose intolerant. Hope that goes away. Other than making myself get out (cause of tiredness) I am so happy. Losing weight and going down sizes + the thought that this is just the beginning. No more yoyoying weight ---- all down from here!!!! I have never had that feeling before. I had a 2 week preop shake diet too and am down 32 lbs since that started. Anyone else excited with stories? Please share.

  6. Once you get past that bloaty gasy feeling and the scale starts going down, down, down I hope it will help! My favorite thing was popsicles. I am a yogurt lover and ended up having lactose issues 1.5 weeks postop. But if you don't have that issue plain greek yogurt with flavored powder or not is filling. I am 4 weeks out and have days were I cant fathom Protein shakes still. Did you learn the trick about adding plain or unflavored Protein to crystal light and Water (or sugar free grape crush)? It just takes like a refreshing drink. I never had food cravings at all --- but my family was good to keep things away. I was more worried about not wanting to get sick. Week 3 loved canned pumpkin, applesauce, and my savior top quality deli turkey and then deli roast beef. Eat slowly and chew it all the way before swallowing. A few days ago I had about an oz of ground beef with a sprinkle of cheese. Also hummus and avocado. I'm approved to try soft white fish tonight with sweet potato mashed. I also found a lot of interesting cauliflower dishes on Pinterest. The thing I did was only introduce one food per day so that i could make sure nothing caused issues. When the weight starts pouring off hopefully you wont look back but you do need protein to be full and healthy.
