  1. Hello everyone.  I haven't been here in a while.  It's been eight months since my surgery.  I am down 70 lbs and went from an 18/20 to a size 10.  I am going to the gym three times a week and trying to walk everyday with weather permitting.  I feel good!  I am no longer obese... just overweight.  If I could get rid of the arm, leg, and belly flab I would feel like a sexy senior citizen! lol

@TracyBar You sound just like me! I have not had surgeries to speak of but was pre-diabetic and a genetically inclined to have heart problems. My cholesterol was through the roof. Aging is difficult on it's own! I have been going to the gym regularly, however, there is a good possibility that your skin will get a little saggy. I had a pretty good double chin so the excess skin on my neck is not especially pretty but not all that bad. I love the loose skin in comparison to the fat! Good luck with your surgery. You won't regret it!

  2. The lowest weight I can recall seeing on a scale was 198.6 when I was 15 years old. I'm now officially below that!

  3. I am not going to feel bad for following my surgeon's directions. What a ridiculous notion.

Are yal talking about me? lol... I'm back and I'm going to follow my surgeons instructions and knock off this last 30-40 lbs! It was a moment of weakness (or a couple of days actually). @LipstickLady, I wanna be YOU when I grow up!

Not much on my end! We are back... and I'm going to focus and be here more often. I'm definitely not going to stop until I reach goal! 30-40 more lbs to go. I think I'm gonna have to sweat it off in the gym.

  5. Finally popping in to say.. EVERYTHING IS GOING AMAZING! 4 months out and down 85lbs. <3

  6. Ha!!! 199 this morning!!!!! Wooooohooooo!!!

  7. At nearly 6 weeks, I have finally started an exercise regimen. My hubby and I have been going out to walk the dog around the neighborhood since the weather has been cooler, and tonight we are going to the gym. What a switch from before surgery, coming home to drink wine, eat a big dinner and veg in front of the TV!

Congrats. May I suggest an Alta Fitbit. I am not highly motivated but this watch contraption vibrates while I am home or work and lets me know when I need to go log in some steps. Movement is important! I go up and down the stairs at work about three times a day. It's great.

  8. Day 1 of my pre-op liquid diet! Pre-admission testing done this morning! It's starting to feel like this actually may be happening!

  9. I'm halfway to goal! 56 lbs lost, 56 to go...

Me too! This is awesome. My next goal is that I am 4lbs from my next weight category. No longer Obese 2, or Obese 1, but simply Overweight! Yay! Then another 40 lbs to Normal.

  10. I had a job interview today. Same ol, same ol behavioral interview crap. This will be the first interview I've had since beginning to lose weight. I've been wondering if perhaps I was being discriminated against because of being overweight and well.. because I'm OLD and overweight. lol

  11. mmmm coffee with a splash of caramel premier protein shake. delicious

I knew this myself. I've been drinking a bit every morning with coffee at work. I found it at Sam's and have been back a couple of times already. It sure satisfies a sweet craving with very little calories and added protein.

  17. Today started off pretty negatively...Rushing to work and I received a ticket for improper lane usage. Guilty. Traffic has been terrible since the flood and Ms. Impatient tried to get around it by riding in the turning lane for a few feet. Duh! I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon and WLS support group tonight. I hope better things unfold! Have a great day all.

Thanks proudgrammy. Great WLS group tonight. Guest speaker was a Clinical Exercise Physiologist. I learned about belly breathing and my core. Woo hoo...I think I need a personal trainer now.

  20. Tough week in Baton Rouge, helping friends who flooded pack up their undamaged belongings, carrying wet furnishings to the curb, and tearing out floor and sheet rock. Hopefully tomorrow I will be back to eating normal.

Thanks all. You know I feel very blessed that I was able to help and that I was not affected by the flooding other than being inconvenienced by road and store closures. It's been crazy and stressful BUT I am optimistic that next week will be much better. #LouisianaStrong

  23. Today is 12 months post-RNY! A whole year already, it's mind-boggling! My sloowww loss in the last several months picked up quite a bit this month and I lost 12 pounds. I'm down 180 since surgery and 243 pounds since my heaviest two years ago. The difference two years can make... :) Expect a longer and more detailed post later today, with before and current pictures! Thank you so much for all of your support and kindness, everyone! Couldn't have made it here without you. <3

  24. Losing slower than I'd like but taking comfort in knowing I'm losing. :)

      AmiLou

Amen! I'm a slow loser too. Seems like there have been a lot of obstacles to exercising in the manner suggested but I am trekking along. I lost 32 lbs in the first two months and I am convinced I could not have done it on my own. The old me would have grown weary and stopped trying after the first four weeks.
