    Anyone with RLS out there?

So, I am not taking potassium supplements? Should I? What options are out there?
  2. I don't give advice but I certainly will pray that you make the right decisions for your family and self. I'm sorry for what you are going through and if you are a believer, the Father will guide you through this. Best wishes on your surgery, your emotional well being, and your family.

    Food

My dietician indicated that starches such as potatoes would hinder my weight loss. I was told to say "NO" to rice, Pasta, potatoes, bread etc for six months and after six months to limit them. Did your doctor or dietician give you the okay to eat the potatoes? I'm just curious... Good luck with your weight loss.

    Cycles (LADIES)

I'm 54 1/2 and was quite relieved to have finally stopped the monthly cycle. I hadn't had a period in 6-7 months and surprise... 2 weeks post operation I had the worst cramps and bleeding. I hope it is another 6-7 months before it happens again. Lots of things have changed with my body though. Restless legs seem worse, reflux worse, and constipation...ugh. The things we do to be thinner and healthier. I'll accept it.

    When is it normal?

I can totally relate to your post! I do not feel normal yet either. I had my surgery June 14th. So I guess I'm in my 7th week? I'm in my fifties and thought my brain would explode trying to keep track of my Fluid intake, my Protein intake, food choices, allowed and not allowed, exercise, and medications... I became dehydrated so I started setting notifications on my phone to remind me of these things. Boy! That was annoying...My cell phone always went off when I walked away from my desk at work! lol Anyhow...I just wanted you to know that you are not alone. BUT...we can do this AND we will feel a new kind of normal at some point?

    Glued to this forum

I went to my local hospital Bariatric Support group for three monthly meetings before deciding to have the surgery. It's a good learning place, as are the forums. You may want to ask your doctor if they have support groups too? I have experienced a lot of problems with indigestion, learned that I was lactose intolerant during the liquid diet, and have been dehydrated a couple of times BUT I am convinced that it is well worth it and these were minor inconveniences. I have never lost this much weight in a short period of time on my own. Good luck!

    Just threw up my multivitamin

The doctor's office, hospital, dietician all seem to PUSH the Bariatric brands ONLY. I've tried Celebrate and Bariatric Advantage chewables and they are disgusting and give you indigestion back lash. I'm interested to see that so many are buying over the counter accessible Vitamins like Centrum and Flintstone. Did the doctor approve or are you just winging it? I can't wait till they tell me that I can just swallow tablets.
  8. Lisat78, Welcome friend! I just have to comment on your comment...about "only" losing 35 lbs! You are doing great. I felt a little discouraged at first too. I went to the Bariatric Support group monthly meetings for three months before scheduling my surgery. Lots of folks talked about their weight loss so my expectations were way up there too. One lady had lost 50 lbs in one month...Whoa! But the facts remain, everyone loses at their own pace, muscle weighs more than fat, if you have more to lose your numbers will be larger, yada...yada... I'm kinda glad that my weight loss has not been so rapid - less saggy skin (hopefully???). Good luck on this journey!
  9. I'm from Prairieville, LA and had my gastric sleeve surgery on June 14th. I'm down 21 lbs in a month which is not that significant number as those in my support group. I go to Woman's Hospital in Baton Rouge once a month...HOWEVER, I guess see the inches disappearing. Two notches on my bra and I'm quite sure I will have to buy new ones soon. I can also see it in my face and neck. My double chin is disappearing. Love these victories. Good luck to all of my Louisiana pals!

    First NSV

I've noticed after only one month, that my face appears thinner and my double chin is going away. Yay me!
  11. Marc, I think you are doing the right thing! I'm 54 and did this to prolong life and feel better about myself. I too am a foodie! I have loved food and trying new variations as long as I can remember! My new approach to eating is not going to be entertainment, pleasure, comfort, but survival. I think the limitations of the size of my new stomach will still allow me to be adventurous with food so I'm looking forward to trying healthy foods just LESS of them! Stay positive and God bless!

    Gas Pains

My surgery was on the 14th. The gas pain and bloating was worse than the incisions! After day 3 and a lot of walking, I found relief with my first BM and gas passing easier. Walking and medication are necessary but it will get better.

    Any other June sleevers?

June 14th! I'm 8 days post surgery. I'm moving better each day but am experiencing diarrhea so not quite ready to get out in public. Can't wait for my first follow up visit tomorrow. Ugly subject and not something I want to talk about!!!

    Starting My Journey 5/28/16

I hope none of this happens to you! From what I have searched, it is not typical? I am 6 days post surgery. I'm 54 years old and I must say that this surgery was far more difficult than I anticipated. I've read where other people go back to work after one week and I'm thinking NO WAY!!! My goal was to return in two weeks and I just don't see it happening. I was nauseated the first couple of days but that has subsided. I feel very tired, my incisions are very sore, I am experiencing gas pains in the chest and abdominal areas. I feel extremely bloated. There was a 10 lb weight gain post surgery that is starting to subside. I did not have a bowel movement for four days. Prayers would be appreciated! One positive note is that I do not feel hungry. That part is TRUE! I hope that I can move around more tomorrow to alleviate the gas. It's just not lady-like to even talk about that subject. Good luck to you!
