  1. Yeah I hate all the crazy nazi like posts from people bashing others, preaching their doctors food guide, yelling at people over stupid stuff. It's surgery, yes there are risks and complication with every surgery. But my fiancé was right when he told me if my fear of death was the only thing holding me back from getting surgery then to do it, that I could die in a car crash driving to the doctor/work/grocery store. No day is promised to us.

I've had complications, stalls, sliming, dumping, slow weightloss, you name it. But I'm so grateful for this tool and am happy goofy and always willing to post something goofy, crazy or helpful :)

I'm a Lapland complication conversion to the sleeve who had raised my son on my own since birth. Im strong and don't let others keep me down. And one day I'll make a healthy hot bride and wife, and ex wife to make my ex's baby momma crazy lol.

I'm all about support and being there for each other in this journey.

  2. Omg it's so much better, even laying in pain in the hospital 24hr after surgery I could feel the difference! No more port pain (other than the incision to remove it lol) weird tight pressure in my chest was gone. Turned out that the band sutures came undone and the band had shifted causing lower esophageal dilation. Made it easier for him to remove it lol, unfortunately for me cause more extreme esophageal spasms for the first week and 1/2 which was debilitating.

I feel great now! I still chew chew chew to a liquid because I had to with the band but nothing gets stuck, I'm already used to drinking small amounts at a time. Difference with the band was it would funnel into the stomach, here it hurts like a b***h lol. Don't have PBing, don't have the disgusting feeling/sound/pain when I throw up. (I've been sick twice) yeah I slime every now and then, yeah I have dumping syndrome from certain food reactions. Know what I'll take it over the band hell.

  3. Hahaha knew that would get someone's attention ;p

Made the black bean brownies tonight:

    http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/melissa-darabian/black-bean-brownies-recipe/index.html

Actually tasty, I added walnuts to it. Next time we try them I'm going to try the apple sauce substitute.

Not sure the calorie content, but only had 1"x1" square lol. But my 5yr old and fiancé enjoyed them.

  4. My skin used to be oily and now it stays super dry' date=' especially my forehead and nose. I read on another board about coconut oil and it totally works. I barely put any on and my skin feels instantly smoother and moisturized. I bought mine in the baking section at the grocery store.[/quote']

Does it make it shiny or greasy?

  5. My mother and I got the band in 2008, self pay because our insurances wouldn't cover it, $13,000each. Biggest mistake of my life. Nothing but problems from day 1. Hardly lost any weight unless I was having complications vomiting constantly or not being able to eat. Over the 5 years had sliming, slippage, pouch dilation, acid reflux, I was working out, still taking phentramine, seeing a nutritionist and was still not losing. Made my life hell for me and my son (now 5). I've spend over $5,000 in last 2 years in doctors offices and hospitals from complications. I couldn't eat most meats, most veggies, had to be rushed to the doctor because I had a piece of apple stuck in the band and they had to open it.

I finally had the band removed and was sleeved on Dec 10th. I don't have the port pain any more, I can lay on my stomach again, I can eat and I'm actually full with my tiny amounts of food. I was hungry most the time with the band. I wouldn't wish it on my ex husband who I hate.

My mom hasn't had the complications as bad, but she throws up most her food, extreme pain in her shoulder at 5yrs out still. Again her insurance will not cover the surgery, she's looking at just having it removed and be done with WLS all together, she'll have to pay out of pocket. She only has lost 30lbs of the 160 excess pounds in 5yrs and that was during the first 6 months.

I really recommend going on you tube and listen to the stories of the band, and reading Ex bander experiences. I'm a single mother since my sons birth. I've missed out on so much because of that stupid band.

  6. I started with WLS 2008 self pay with by far one of the worst houston surgeons. Dr Felix Speigel, please of you have anything done avoid him like the plague.

For my revision I went to UT physicians, I used Dr Mehta and have heard wonderful things about Dr Wilson from friends who have used him.

Being you're a mom & have struggled with weight your whole life I would get sleeve or gastric to be honest. I'm a single mother since my sons birth. I've missed out on so much because of that stupid band.

  8. I LOVE the couch to 5k I did it earlier this year and after 2 months was able to run/jog 3miles non stop. Then band slipped again, got sick, had it opened and took vacation and gained 30lbs lol. So gonna start it up again.

  9. Was a smoker for 15yrs off and on. I quick cold turkey a week before surgery (Dec 10) Honestly don't miss it. My sister started up again and so I took a drag Christmas, it was disgusting I was shocked. Tried again when was hanging out with a girlfriend, again gross. Who would have thought the surgery helped me kick the habit. :)

Had tried about 6months before surgery to quit, was using niccoret(sp) it wasn't bad get fruit flavored not mint, but made me crazy bitchy.

  10. They also work with egg beaters.

I used 4 eggs, beat them with cheese and miss dash. In a skillet heated up onions and turkey sausage crumbles, ham for my son. Heated oven to 350, poured egg into muffin tray (used pam butter spray to help them not stick) then spooned the skillet mixture into the cups. This way I didn't get ham and he didn't get my onions lol. Then stirred each muffin cup to mix it but and baked it for 20mins.

  11. I have it with sugars (yogurts that are too sweet, certain Popsicles ect) or certain foods, still hit and miss with me. It's horrible, heart races, get sweaty and shaky then the cramps set in at that point it's a race to the restroom and take a book or something. It's horrible until it passes. I've had days where if it hit me I'm down for the count all day

  12. P.S. i just watched that movie this weekend :) " I sometimes have a feeling I can do crystal meth' date=' but then I think "Hmm, better not"" - Fat Amy[/quote']

I love that movie, wish I was secure enough to speak my Mind like her character when I was in school

  13. We all love food, if not we'd be twig b****es (Fat Amy quote lol)

So figured we share ideas on food finds. For those who have an HEB (grocery) and like salmon or trying to learn to like it like I am. They have these pin wheels that is salmon with feta cheese and spinach that aren't too bad.

Also nestle has a sugar free nesquick that's still tasty.

And found that I can tolerate dark coffee roast more than light, which I always hated lol.

Easiest for me to do is shrimp.
