During my preop testing I was discovered to have cardiomyopathy. I feel lucky that because of WLS testing it was caught early and is treatable. I was still able to have WLS, I just had to get the heart issues addressed first. My heart Dr okayed the surgery once he saw enough improvement and he said the surgery would help my heart even more now that I was stable.
I'm sorry you are having heart troubles of your own. Once you address them and get your body as healthy as you can I hope that they will approve your WLS so that you can become even healthier.

I'm supposed to be getting 90g of Protein a day but at 12 days out I'm struggling to get the Protein shakes down. I didn't mind them so much preop but now the flavor is gag inducing and everything else I've tried has been worse. After the first one I feel very full for the rest of the day. I'm only getting 25g a day. I know I need more. I get faint several times a day and my Dr. wants me to eat more to remedy that.
I'm a bit frustrated and hoping it will get easier. On the happy side, I have no problem getting my fluids in and I'm down 14 pounds since the surgery and 39 pounds overall.

I had chronic Migraines and was ready to start the botox treatments when my neurologist suggested a preventative called protriptyline. I went from migraines 4 days a week to migraines once or twice a month. Everybody is different and responds differently to medication but that is what works for me! I also take an abortive when I feel a Migraine starting called rizatriptan. The sooner I take it the better!
Good luck. Migraines are hard.

My doctor requires a week of Clear Liquids to allow for healing. He is very conservative. Every doctor is different and you can always call to see if you can start your Protein Shakes early. I've been pretty woozy and faint so I started mine today instead of tomorrow with permission.

I'm in the Fife/Tacoma area. Dr. Srikanth has a monthly support group for his patients in Federal Way.
A group of are meeting in July in Federal Way if anyone would like to join! Most of us have been sleeved recently but any WLS at any stage would be welcome. There is an RNY and someone preop as well.

I'm 5 days post op and I am fairly hungry, especially when making food for the kids. I'm looking forward to Protein Shakes in 3 days!
I'm also very, very gurgly since yesterday. It's like a second wave of gas is grumbling through me. My stomach will not quiet down! My kids find this hilarious. Me, not so much haha!

Are most of you all on Facebook? If you are comfortable with it, I could create a private event and invite you all which would make it easy to see who could come and who couldn't. Maybe we can make this a monthly thing!
I think right now we have Seastar, kadie777, me, and possibly Tommy Joe and ACJordan. Am I missing anyone?

I'm on the Clear Liquids, 4 days post op, and while I'm not starving I'm also feeling somewhat hungry much of the time. Not sure if it is always true hunger or if it is head hunger but I can't wait to eat real food again.

Bwahahahahahaha! I'm with you! Today I stared at my husband while he was eating a turkey sandwich and kept asking him if it was good, what he put on it, and at the height of my weirdness, if I could smell it.If I don't show up at Panera on July 16, follow the trail of giant toothmarks along the highway back to Seattle. You may find me eating skyscrapers. I'll bet they crunch like chicken bones.
Not coincidentally, I'm ready for an award for almost making it through another day surviving on freakin' liquids. I did some errands to get away from my kitchen. But did you know that office supply stores have mesmerizing food aisles? How about Petco - those frosted doggy treats look delicious, but I'd even settle for some kangaroo jerkey from the checkout temptations shelf.
I'm not technically hungry, I know I know, but this sure feels like another crash diet and I am OVER IT already!
So, the low-cal crankiness has apparently set in at my house. How are you guys doin'?
I'm starting to feel like one of those vampire movies where the vampire has sworn off humans but is constantly around them.

Let's see if this July 16 at 2pm at the Panera in Federal Way works for most!
I'm excited too, @@Seastars! We can practice eating right in difficult situations with people who will be supportive!
I've heard that Dr. Srikanth's support group does potlucks and has everybody bring a dish and the recipe so we can try new healthy things. Maybe we could do a picnic toward the end of summer like that? When we are maybe eating real food?

Everyone,
It sounds like July 16th is a good day for most? Would an afternoon time in Federal Way work? There is both a Panera there and several pho places. Any preferences?

I was sleeved on 6/22 too! I'm also struggling with what to do for fun now that food is off the menu. I want to take my kids to a movie but I'm worried that will be too much like torture for me!Yeah don't worry. I was sleeved on 6/22. When I was discharged from the hospital I had gained 8lbs. My stomach is still pretty bloated and i feel bigger then when i went in . That said they pump you full of gas and fluids. ..Lots and lots of fluids and that's not counting the stress to your body. We didn't get this way over night and it's not going to change over night. I also know what you mean about the loss. I had a moment with all the recipes flooding my Facebook and I'm all "I'll never be able to eat that again...or what the heck do I cook for my family". Went to the movies and sat and tried not to drool over popcorn. Lol i might have stared at others with eating popcorn. Our entertainment was going out to eat...all new stuff and habits we're learning day by day. Much love. Your definitely not alone!

I went to a graduation party today and I found it incredibly difficult to be in an environment where I normally ate a ton for the sake of socializing and now could only have liquids. The smells and watching people eat my favorite foods was awful.
I'm definitely seeing now how much I was eating for fun and comfort and not because I was hungry. I knew it was true before but now is really hitting home. I wanted to eat cake and lumpia so badly!

An unofficial support group would be great!
Hi, ACJordan! I hope you are doing well. I live in Edgewood and take my kids to school in the Federal Way area. Maybe we'll have enough people in this area that had surgery in June to form an unofficial support group!
I also live in Federal Way and just had my surgery June 20th.Hi. I live in Federal Way and have surgery scheduled 31May. I'm very excited. Anyone else having surgery soon?

Kadie777 and ACJordan perhaps we can meet up on a day we are all free and feeling good? Hilariously, I can't think of anywhere to go. Whenever I meet people it is almost always at a restaurant of some sort. I can see a lot more is going to change than just my weight, lol!

Wow! You are recovering very well! I'm trying out just Tylenol today because I'm tired of being sleepy from the other med. 2 miles! I don't know if I could manage that just yet. Great job!Second morning home: gas pain much better. I am now in One-Derland!
Was able to meet my Protein and Water minimums yesterday, but just barely. Walked 2 miles. Felt strong and clear-headed. I didn't want to run, but walking was no effort.
Today going to run some errands (I haven't taken any painkillers since the hospital so I'm safe to drive). Will keep up the walking. Will go back to work Monday (after Wednesday-afternoon surgery).

Haha! That's so awesome! I didn't really look at your photo till now but yeah I remember you! I'm so glad that you are doing well post-surgery. Did you find a Protein drink that was not so sweet? I think you had mentioned you don't like the sweet Protein powders. There were two others at that meeting and I hope they are doing well. I will try to make a support meeting but it is challenging on Mondays bc I work till 600 pm and then have to pick up my dogs.
Lol, really? I wonder if we already met!
Can you remind me when the support groups are scheduled? I think I had my preop meeting on May16th as well.

I am one of those people whose preop testing saved my life. My echocardiogram found that I have cardiomyopathy. It caught it early and it is reversible. I went on to have my WLS knowing I wouldn't have issues with anesthesia because we sorted out my heart before the surgery.
It's frustrating to have delays but it's all about keeping you safe and healthy. Good luck!
