    Let's talk about Reactive Hypoglycemia

I had the hardest time getting out of bed today. When I did, my eyesight was blurry and kept seeing "stars" in like 50% of my normal vision. Went to take my meds and check my sugar - 52. I've never seen it this low. Took a glucose tab and everything is fine now, but still feel a little off. Before my surgery, I was taking Humalin, Humalog and Metformin. Doctor took me completely off of the latter two pretty much. Think its time for a new appointment because I think the Humalin needs to be adjusted next. Over the last week I've seen my morning numbers go from 100-115 to 75-90.

    Crystal Light Post OP?

My team highly recommended Crystal Light post-surgery. They even suggested mixing my protein powder in it. Haven't tried that yet, though. Within a day or two I was drinking two 20oz bottles of Crystal Light Fruit Punch a day and never experienced any kind of adverse effects.
  3. Just a small win, but it made me super happy. Stopped wearing a few pairs of jeans I loved because they were a little too snug and uncomfortable. Not only can I wear them fine now, but they are actually sagging and loose in the waist. I'm glad to be able to wear them again, even if it is only for a short while, potentially.
  4. Two weeks out tomorrow. Feeling a lot better, but still fighting my energy levels. I've had no problems keeping anything down so I've been able to meet my 70-80 gram protein quota. My biggest problem is that I really want something other than protein shakes. For four weeks now I've lived on shakes, popsicles, jello and any non-carbonated, non-caffeinated sugar-free beverages. Two more weeks before my next appointment. Doctor says I'll graduate to "soft proteins" then. Happy with the progress, though. It is what makes this all worth it. Down a little more than 30lbs since I started the liquid diet.
  5. At my one week post-op appointment, my doctor told me we would talk about going back to work at my next appointment, three weeks later. That seems like a rather long time. Thankfully I am a student, and the surgery date fell very close to the beginning of my summer break. I couldn't imagine taking off four weeks of work for any reason at my last job.

    June Surgery

@@KS611 It didn't hurt at all. I was actually shocked about that. There was a weird cramping sensation but I wasn't in any form of pain or discomfort.
  7. I'm one of those people who weigh in every day. This close out from surgery the pounds are just falling off. When I see that number drop by one or two every day or so it is a great motivation to keep going. Once that starts to slow I'll probably change that, but for now it is a great source of joy.

    June Surgery

I had mine June 9th. Spent one night in the hospital and was out 9pm the next day. At first I felt pretty crappy, but within a few days I was off of the pain medication. I had a drain for a week. It was a little uncomfortable and prevented me from sleeping on my right side which meant minimal sleep. Once that got removed I felt a whole lot better. Getting frustrated with my diet, though. They have me on four weeks of full liquids (should be three, but couldn't get an appointment any closer to the 3 week mark.. ugh). With the 2 week pre-op diet I lost 15lbs. Since surgery I've lost an additional 15lbs. Can't argue with those numbers, I guess. Just looking forward to something that isn't a protein shake, Crystal Light, Popsicle or Jello though.
