    Alcohol?

And beer is carbonated. Ask about that too.

    Alcohol?

The best answer needs to come from your doctor and not from strangers on the internet. Every plan is different. Nothing to be embarrassed about unless you are under age.

    Alcohol

Ask your doctor. They all have different guidelines for their patients. Your new stomach is not something to mess around with while it is healing.
  4. I have to wonder if those medical and bariatric professionals that have concerns know their patients are eating pork chops, tacos, steak, chicken, snrimp, bacon within the first 2 weeks out of surgery. I wonder if they know their patients are asking can I have this or that or when can I have this or that. I wonder if they know there are posters who tell them yes, it is ok, you will be fine or You didn't get surgery just to not enjoy the foods you like or I can tell my body is healed so I can eat what I want. Those of us who have concerns for their health and that they have a plan from their doctor to follow and that this is a lifestyle change are tired of being told our tone was harsh. It is up to the reader to determine tone as they interpret it. I can't even estimate how many times I have seen the words Is it on your plan? And Check with your doctor. These are supportive responses. I am sure those medical professionals might be grateful that strangers are actually trying to help their non compliant patients. Maybe you can provide this kind of feedback to those that had concerns. I've run out of steam.
  5. I lost zero pounds over 2 weeks. It is what it is. Didn't hamper my overall results so far. You are only frustrating yourself for something you can't control.
  6. Yes, just like before surgery. Search forum for stall, not losing to find a lot of info.

    Am I eating too much?

At your stage, it is very difficult to meet protein goals without supplementing with protein in some form. I would check back with them and ask about adding protein to your cottage cheese, yoghurt, coffee, etc.
  8. Thanks for sharing your journey (literally and figuratively). Traveling where you went definitely sounds like a food challenge, but instead of making it that, you were able to not center it around meals. I am getting better, but the constant preplanning and anticipation of what or where the next meal is will take some time to totally drop. Maybe I need to go to Southeast Asia for a jump start! Amazing you could walk that much. That inspires me to kick up my exercise a bit more. As for alcohol, I haven't had any issues with it, including champagne, but I can't allow myself to have it on a regular basis.

    Am I eating too much?

Are you meeting your protein goal? I wasn't given quantities after liquid diet but still supposed to focus on protein and liquids. After protein, I ate until I felt satisfied with small bites and went slowly.
  10. Congrats on the first 3 months! Love the bowls. Absolutely beautiful!
  11. Keep with the protein shakes as you won't be able to get enough protein without them at 1 mth. Work on water also. The calories will increase as your swelling subsides and you get on solid food. You are doing well!

WLS is the easy way out

That is exactly what I was trying to say. Thankyou!

WLS is the easy way out

People magazine runs a story like that every year. And GMA has them on the show. I think it is wonderful that people can lose that much weight and share it to inspire others to do the same. As others have said, it is the implication that wls is the easy way to do it. For me, it has been easier to lose the weight with my sleeve, but not easy. There is a difference. My sleeve is a medical tool that I have to help me. I still have to to the work to lose the weight. It will be a very long time before wls losing the reputation of being the easy way out. Some of that responsibility lies with those of us who don't share our path to success. I get it that we face judgement and criticism from others. For me, I don't really care what others say about it. There is a saying "Other's opinion about me is none of my business." Maybe that kind of confidence come with age. :-) I told my friends and family after I made the decision and did it in a way that included how I can't do it own my own, I am need to get help, and I want to be healthy and throughly enjoy my life. Only one person had concerns but ultimately supports me. I am semi retired and self employed so I didn't have to deal with coworkers but I think I would tell them too. If someone asks me, I share my experience with the sleeve. And if someone isn't comfortable doing so, that is ok, as it isn't easy. It is kind of like what comes first, the chicken or the egg. Do we wait for society to accept wls and then we feel free to share or do we share our choices and successes and society changes their view? Carry on my fellow wls comrades!
  14. Am not near goal but when I had a consultation with my surgeon I shared what my goal was ease that is what I remember feeling good at. He feels I can lose more and said when I reach my goal I will want to reevaluate it. In my head I don't see it, but he is confident I can lose 15 lbs more. So, you may just keep that in mind

    Shopping in your closet

Yes. It is fun. I have been able to avoid buying new things but I do need a new pair of pants. And a nice dress for a wedding in March but am waiting another month to shop for that.
  17. My first year of after surgery visits are included in surgery costs. Check with your surgeons office. I have my bloodwork done with my PCP but I very much think there is value to meeting with surgeon to discuss progress and any questions during this early transition time.

Can I see a menu please?

Did you discuss your food allergies and sensory issues with your surgeon and nutritionist prior to surgery? They can help with foods and/or menus to help you accommodate your unique issues.

    Stalling Already?

I would continue to get your Water in. Try different temps and flavors. And, I would hold back on eating solid food until water goals are met. You are only 3 weeks post op, there is no rush. Stalls happen. My first one lasted 2 weeks, actually they all last about that long. Just keep going.

    NEED SUPPORT :(

Are you having clear protein drinks? Head hunger and cravings can many times be helped by taking a ppi to reduce stomach. If you are not on one, call and ask for one. Sometimes folks have to try different ones to find the one that works.

    Pizza that is the ?

Google for a recipe for cauliflower crust pizza. I haven't tried it yet but heard it was delicious. You can make your own and put whatever topping you choose.

    Popcicles

Your stomach is swollen and everyone is different. If you can't finish it put it back in the freezer and finish it later.

Can I see a menu please?

Keep supplementing with protein shakes, unflavored protein protein waters, etc. I don't hAve a menu to share but in soft foods I had 2 shakes and alternated tuna salad, chicken salad, deli turkey cheese, ground beef flavored as taco meat, scrambled eggs, cheese. I have been on solids for 6 mths and still eat those foods along with other dense proteins. Don't worry about calories at this point.
  24. I totally understand. I have lost 75 lbs and yes, I have changed clothing sizes but it took a while. Just yesterday I went thru my closet and was able to eliminate size 3x and most 2x. However, I have things that I can wear that are 2x, 1x, xl, and l. I decided it is all how they are made otherwise I couldn't be wearing 4 sizes at the same time. I eliminated some pants that were of stretchy fabric so I think that is why I could wear them so long. I need some new ones. It just takes more pounds and more time. At least you aren't having to spend money yet on new clothes you will grow out of.

    The drinking light is lit

Paper cup, red solo cup, coffee cup? I am sure no matter the vessel used, that you enjoyed it. I too have found that when I drink wine (drink of choice and occasional margarita), that it doesn't affect me differently. Maybe because I usually also have water handy. :-)
