Being cold is getting old!
suzzzzz replied to highfunctioningfatman's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Being cold hasn't hit me much but I do live in North Texas and weather just changed to being chilly yesterday. I am hoping that tolerating the summer heat gets easier. -

Your doc should have that in the written instructions. If not, call them. I really don't remember. -
Good to hear it wasn't something more. Now you can begin the normal sleeve journey.

Why am I always hungry?
suzzzzz replied to Rosie212104's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can you give me ab example of the kind of Proteins you eat?Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using the BariatricPal App I stil, have a Protein shake for breakfast. Other proteins I eat are tuna salad, chicken salad, grilled chicken, pork temderloin, filet, ground sirloin, eggs cheese, and occasionally a Protein Bar. Atkins chocolate peanut pretzel is my favorite. I also like Quest bars but they are sweeter. -

Take your pain meds, sleep and sip water. If you need to call your doctor, then do so. -
Why am I always hungry?
suzzzzz replied to Rosie212104's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you eating enough protein? I am 5 mths out and when I feel hungry, I have some protein and it takes it away. If you are craving sweets, cutback on your carbs. -
5 Day Post Op from VSG and I don't have "full feeling"
suzzzzz replied to xogipsy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The goal is to not feel full. Stop before you get that feeling and this how going slow really helps. 3 times I have taken one bite too many and felt so full and uncomfortable. I had to just walk around for a bit. Eating for the sleeve is very different and it takes practice once on solids. -
Yes, just depends on how you want to allocate the room in your stomach. I've had some and it tasted good but then I decided I can't do that and meet my protein goals. I love popcorn, but it is on the shelf until maintenance.
-
I loved soft food part and didn't have issues. I would first suggest trying smaller bites and going slower. If that doesn't help, then go back to the previous stage for a few days. Your stomach just may not be ready yet and that is ok.

Feeling pretty good.
suzzzzz replied to MTWilliams's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is a good time to release your expectations about what will discourage you or make you worry. Our bodies are going to do what they need to do in order to heal and adjust. We really need to only focus on giving it what it needs. There will be times where you don't like what the scale says and times when you will be elated. Try to keep focused on the long term goal. Once I learned to let frustrations go, this journey has been pleasant, even in a stall or if I have gained. -
My restriction was 3-4 weeks, depending on how incisions were healing. Just imagine how extra wonderful it will feel when you can have one.

5 mths out. OMG. I have dropped 8.5 lbs. since last Thursday! 4.5 since Tuesday. So exciting.

Thanks ladies. It is exciting and a shock. I have not ever had a drop like that. Have lost 72 total. Put on a pair of jeans today that were way too small to wear and they are a little baggy now. I am amazed. @ShelterDog64 I think we are still pretty much on the same track!

We are @suzzzzz ! I just hit 75 down and I'm so happy for you AND me, the Bariatric Twins

Stall-Frequency, strategy, duration-please share
suzzzzz replied to jilani's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 5 mths out and had first first stall start after week 2. It lasted for 2 weeks. No weightloss. And, honestly I can't detail the rest of my stalls because I don't write anything down. They have become a part of my journey and I don't pay much attention to them because each time, the weightloss begins again. Just doesn't suit me to let frustratin bother me. -
I know it can be frustrating but your body is doing what it needs to do for healing right now. My first stall was 0 lbs in 2 weeks. I got past it and began losing again and then stalled, then lost, then stall, wash rinse repeat. During times when the scale didn't change, my size did. Most will lose inches and go down in sizes. Hang in there. Don't let your frustration stress your body out even more.

Stomach capacity-3 months out-Little restriction seems like
suzzzzz replied to jilani's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Stop gulping and start taking small bites of Protein dense foods. My instructions are to eat over a 30 minute window max. If I feel satisfied prior to that, then stop. I am 5 mths out and when I eat fast, I eat more because my stomach doesn't get a chance to signal my brain. I do drink Water a little fast, but not food. It takes concentration and practice. -
Glad you know now. Hopefully your surgeon can provide some guidance to help prevent another attack.

Family dinner and Company Christmas dinner
suzzzzz replied to Hazel_eyez's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would go to both and enjoy the company of the people (unless you really don't want to.) In the liquid stage you can always have soup. If on clear liquids, just have the broth and if on full liquids, ask the restaurant to puree it for you. You will not be able to consume much anyway. And you can have protein shake before you go to help with any desire to go off plan. I eat out a lot and the first time was while on liquids. It wasn't a business dinner but if it had been, I would have gone. The first step in making lifelong adjustments. -
It is my understanding that rapid weightloss can trigger gallbladder issues, but not necessarily related to surgery. And many people have gallbladder problems that have nothing to do with losing weight. Hope you feel better soon.
-
Your surgeons office needs to give you a cash pay price. Then you can compare prices with other doctors. Also, some of them allow for a lower cash price if you also need a haital hernia repair because that part is covered by insurance. So basically, the sleeve surgery is a piggy back on the other surgery so surgery costs for sleeve are less.

7 months post op weight loss crawl
suzzzzz replied to KimMcD3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are not being greedy. You deserve to get to your goal weight and you will. You have already predicted the future and determined the outcome. There is a saying that if you think you can't, you are right and if you think you can, you are right. -
7 months post op weight loss crawl
suzzzzz replied to KimMcD3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved the same time as you and I am thrilled to have lost 67 pounds in 5 mths. Your expectations are too high if you think "only 66 pounds" isn't good enough. Talk to your doctor, reexamine what you are eating, amount of protein and liquids, etc. -
Keep focused on your long term goals. This is a new lifelong journey of losing weight, getting healthy, and gaining an improved lifestyle. Your body is healing and adjusting and will release the weight in a manner and time frame that works best for it. You have to do your part too. Think of it as a partnership.
