I am scheduled for sleeve to bypass conversion on October 26. I have to be on all liquids starting tomorrow. I am so ready to have this done that I don't even care about the all liquid diet. I hope all goes well for you!

It is when bile backs up into the gastric sleeve and into the esophagus. It has damaged the bottom of my esophagus. Feels like heartburn amplified 100 times. Conversion to bypass is the only way to fix it.

I got my approval today for my sleeve to be converted to RNY! My tentative date is October 26. I am so relieved. I have had severe bile reflux for 4 months. I'm getting tired and I seem to be on a constant emotional roller coaster. Just hoping the next 3 weeks go by fast!

From the mouths of babes...I will never forget what my 15 year old daughter said to me in the grocery store the day I was buying a tiny little cake which was to be my very last. (it still is the last one I ever ate) I was telling her all of the changes I had made and still had ahead of me, and she looked me straight in the eye and said "I'd get a bigger cake." Sometimes they know what they are talking about. You can change as much you want to change at one time, as long as you are able to withstand the suffering, lol. I think it all comes down to what you can handle at the time. Sometimes too much is just too much. You will make it if you just hang in there and commit to the changes. Setbacks are temporary. Giving up is permanent. Best wishes to you!!

I would not insist on the sleeve. I have had nothing but complications, and my weight loss has stopped after I lost 26 pounds. I wish I had insisted on the RNY!

I've been watching, "Bull" and "Rosewood".
So far I'm enjoying them----Of course, "Rosewood" was on last season.
"Bull" is supposed to be based on Dr. Phil's life experiences. I find it fascinating.

Hello! I worried about that too, Pre-surgery. I loved food and lots of it for my whole life. I started the process at 329, 318 on surgery date of 6/24/15. I was 61 years old.
The wonderful thing I discovered after surgery was that I was no longer hungry. Before surgery, I never had an off switch. I could eat and eat and eat and never really felt full until I was I was uncomfortably stuffed. After surgery, I think I felt like people who are normal weight naturally. For the first time in my life my body had an off switch. I'm not gonna lie. There was a period of time that I call my mourning period where, emotionally, I missed my old friend. I loved my old friend, food. And when it was gone I felt angry and sad for a time but physically, I now had that off switch and achieved a feeling of fullness that I never had before. This learning period passed. Daily, I started feeling better emotionally and physically. Where as, food used to be my everything, now I was living a life not ruled by food. I felt like I was actually living my life like, "normal" people. As I lost the weight so quickly, I felt really good. Moving around and not getting winded was a great feeling! I no longer have high blood pressure or acid reflux. I love to walk now. I used to run out of breath walking from car into the house. I used to have to sit down to prep food for meals and take frequent breaks doing simple housework. Now, I move and breath with ease. Granted, I still have arthritis pain from a lifetime of carrying around an extra 180 pounds. That damage was done but I feel great. I have lost 150 lbs. over the last 16 months.
I'm mindful of what I eat but I'm not obsessing. I developed habits of eating slowly, and enjoying flavors and what I am eating. I have this wonderful new tool that lets me know when I'm full. I don't crave sweets anymore. In fact because they make me sick, I have long given them up and I don't miss them anymore. I can eat pretty much anything but I don't eat the old daily standards of fast foods and processed foods on a regular basis. I like healthy foods. I enjoy my family and friends and food in a whole new way. Food is no longer the priority. If you will excuse the pun, food is no longer the elephant in the room .. I'm 62, 174 pounds and Life is good!

Well I first had the lap band which only lasted under two years because it gave me terrible acid and I was told there was a Rosian so my band is taken out, because I had problems with acid I should've gone to the RN why but my surgeon converted me to the VSG. After the VSG I had terrible issues with eating it took almost 6 months just to get out of mushy stage. And I've had problems ever since. Life has been very hard when it comes to eating I could just literally open my mouth after eating and my food comes out. So if you'd like my advice I think you should take your doctors recommendation and do the RNY. Avoid all the problems that I've had and many of us here

I had my sleeve for over 3 years. It took me almost 5 months to be able to eat mushy foods. Then I had a stricture I had an endoscopy next and I was told last year that I had Barrett's esophagus. Not nice, so I'm looking forward to the RNY. I'll be praying for everyone here for a speedy and easy recovery let's all keep in touch

Always, always do what your program dictates. They are the ones taking care of you, and are familiar with your individual case. There are SOOOO many different plans. The only one you need to follow is yours. It's dangerous to make changes based on someone else's plan. Trust your doctor and you'll be okay. Best wishes to you!
