This makes me feel for you so much...I get so nauseated just thinking about the last time I had to drink that stuff. I was very lucky because I had upper endoscopy pre-op, and post-op I had no leak test! I am not sure why, but I am so glad I didn't. Nausea has been one of my worst side effects since my sleeve. I hope you feel better as you get that stuff out of your system today. One step closer!

As you and I don't agree, perhaps you should simply contact me privately in future.
The OP asked "Does anyone regret their surgery". I do.
And I will continue to support my position.
I am only urging people to make sure that they are giving informed consent.

No no no please! When your comments are made on a public forum it is helpful to see another view on the public forum. Other people will evaluate both and come to their own opinions. You say she is biased for working for NHS well shoot. We are all biased! You are due to your complications which do seem to me to be rare considering all I have read and seen and I am biased by not having any complications - we're all biased and trying to sort things out for ourselves. .

No, I don't regret having had WLS (I was sleeved nearly 2 years ago).
I'm far healthier today than I was prior to beginning the WLS process.
I've lost 100 pounds and am maintaining now at 135 pounds.
And yes -- one day I will die.

Oh! And just a thought point for you that I really didn't understand pre-op and you can't fully understand until you've done it. (Post op people hit me up with some LIKES if you agree!!!)

Feeling full after WLS (the sleeve anyways) is NOT good. I used to love feeling full. I craved it, I chased it, I got fat because of it.

Now feeling full makes me feel like sh*t for hours. It's physically uncomfortable, it makes me feel claustrophobic, I get sweaty, I get nervous, I want to hurl and sometimes I do. Full sits in my chest for hours instead of in that warm comfy spot where my tummy used to live. Seriously.

    Ah...OK.
Reading that second article was interesting. I've never thought of food as "morally good" or "morally bad" and I'm not much on the use of the word triggering so I truly had no idea what you were saying.
So that said... I can kind of agree/disagree. I had the sleeve vs. bypass so I could live a fairly normal life dietarily (is that even a word?). I wanted to be able to have a piece of cake or a scoop of ice cream occasionally. (Ice cream makes me dump, so that's a no.) I enjoy chicken wings and potato chips occasionally as well.
BUT. Eating intuitively? Nope with a capital NO. I got to 264 pounds eating intuitively. FOR ME, some foods are bad. Not morally, just a really horrible decision. Ice cream (for the reasons above), rice, potato chips (can't stop with just a couple), M&Ms (same). Some are good. Not morally, they just help me stay on track. eggs, cheese, red meat, asparagus, anything that comes out of the deep blue sea...
I spent way too much time yo you dieting. I thought I was a super healthy fat person but now that I am not a fat person, I can see all the damage I did to my body while thinking that way.
    http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/308645-i-was-a-super-healthy-fat-person-until-surgery-changed-my-life-was-it-worth-it/?hl=%20super%20%20healthy%20%20fat
That said. My words are mine. My actions and my results are mine. You know yourself best and my words are not at all meant to take away from yours.
Good luck to you!! Clearly you have put a TON of thought into this process which is so much more than I can say about a lot of people who have this procedure done.

Sorry, I don't buy it. WLS is a multi-billion dollar industry in a country's where shyster lawyers like John Edwards convinced a jury that MS was the result of not enough c-sections.
If WLS wasn't as safe as a root canal over the long haul, we'd be hearing about it on 60 Minutes, let alone every forum we follow.

This is not normal. You need to hire a legal team if you were promised things that are no longer being given to you. I had diarrhea -- Probiotics helped that immediately.
I have a stricture, I simply eat slowly and lean towards softer foods.
Gall bladder removal is common after WLS, so that's no big deal -- no medication I know of will prevent that.
Many of us "battle" dehydration for months after surgery, we just adapt by sipping fluids alllllll day long.
I went months on 300-700 calories a day. It took me almost a year to get up to 900.
I was severely nauseated and had cramping, both were treated with two teeny pills.
I couldn't swallow Vitamins (stricture) so I took a Gummy form.
Some of your stuff sounds normal and workable, some, not so much. Y'all really need to seek council.

This experience is so statistically inconsistent with everyone else I've ever talked to or read about, it's hard to believe. 1. Where did you get your surgery?
    2. Did you all have the same surgeon?
    3. Have you got an attorney?
Has anyone else ever heard of anything like this following VSG?
My surgeon told us that about 2% had complications. After reading comments from hundreds of patients on a variety of forums, I'd say that number is HIGH. I can't recall anyone but you!

There are good foods and bad foods after wls, just like before. And just like before, your diet should consist of 90% good foods.
The difference is, when you eat good or bad foods, you can't eat much. Yesterday I took my mother to lunch and we split a dinner salad. I ate half of my half and she ended up taking half home.
The key is having a disciplined maintenance program. I weigh myself just about every day and if I go over my goal weight, I go back on my low carb 1000/calories day diet.
10 months post opt, I've only gone over goal 3 times. All by less than 1 pound, and never for more than one day.
Yes, I can eat pizza, but seldom do.,,

I wish I'd done it sooner....much sooner. It would have improved every aspect of my life....only sooner.
The sleeve is more than just a survival tool...as I first thought of it. It's a life enrichment tool that I'm so grateful for.

Not a sleeve girl but I originally wanted one. I ended up with bypass because I had severe gerd and it was a better option for me personally.
No regret ever, not for one second. I have a whole new life where food does not revolve around it. Don't get me wrong, I love food. I choose to really savor every morsel and I don't eat crap anymore because it actually tastes gross.
pizza, oh yes. I do eat a lovely thin crust piece of pizza about once a month and I love that I can and I love that I am satisfied with that one piece.
No regrets other than regretting I did not do it sooner. Live is full again!

No one can undo a sleeve so, YES, even now being 5yrs out, I have moments of regret..
    BUT
I consider those moments, moments of weakness when I have to remind myself--
I can wallow in a wrong decision
    OR
I can make a wrong decision right.
That's when I give myself a virtual slap along side my head and get back to the business of becoming healthy and happy again.

Just go to Top Right, click on your name, then click on Tickers.
Choose the ticker you like, you will see instructions on top, once you select your ticker, save it and I think paste it into your Signature.
When you wish to update your weight loss, again go to top right, click on your name, then click on Your Surgery, and change your weight there. Save the change. It automatically updates on your ticker then.
Good luck and have fun with all the different styles and backgrounds you can choose from

Sorry this question is kind of for IT help lol...hopefully I'm not the only one!
How do I get the weight loss ticker on my profile/edit my profile in any way? I want to add information. I like having all my stats where I can see them and think it's helpful for pre-op people to see how the post-opers are doing (it was for me and still is)!

I was on top of the world, feeling great for some time. Then I was really irritable and cranky. I am still not sleeping well due to my thyroid med getting too strong with each weight loss, and adjustments take weeks to work.
I also had a horrible, on-going stress last month, that the end result was depression.
So, this has been a Jekyll and Hyde journey for me.
I am waiting to get back to normal .... 5 months post op .... maybe another month for me? I hope so!

@@justhere4theshow Oh, girl. There have been a few instances in the past 6 weeks where I just about tore the head off one of the 3 unfortunate men in my house. My hormone-related insanity has been alleviated somewhat by the fact that I'm sliding into menopause, so I think the estrogen release is actually helpful at times...but oh, those other times. The dogs hide under the bed, the male humans scatter....

I turned into a monster after my surgery. I am not sure if it's hormones, stress, or hunger, or any other mysterious phenomenon...but I am trying to overcome it. Here's the thing: If you have been where I have been, and you have something valuable for me to learn, I will read your stuff. If I know the answer to a question you have asked, cool. You can read my stuff, too. Let's just agree to disagree if necessary. Everyone has their own experiences. I am just ready to get on with it and lose this weight...no amount of arguing or being hateful is going to make me lose it, so it's wasted energy. That's all I wanted to say.
Edited for clarification of a garbled sentence, UGH.
