  1. I love the Oatmega bars (50g) 14g of Protein, 200 calories. The chocolate mint bar is my favorite (I cant stand the Quest Chocolate mint because of the aftertaste). The sell these at Walmart.
  2. Did you eat anything high in sodium. That always does it for me. I can (could) gain 2-3 lb in a day and it would take 4-5 days to burn off the water retention. It did not change the underlying amount of fat loss though.

    Soda!

I used to have a massive Diet Coke habit, and would drink the equivalent of 8-10+ cans per day. Knowing that the surgery was in my future I decided to quit it 20 months or so before. That was one of the hardest things I ever had to do and I suffered through terrible withdrawal (headaches, muscle aches, sweating etc). Perhaps that was my because of my withdrawal method (started by halving my consumption, then reduced by a can every few days), but I am glad I didn't try to manage that at the same time of recovering from surgery. I don't think I could have managed, the pain and dietary changes all at ones. I am now some 22 months caffeine free and a little over 2 months post op and glad for all the changes I made in my life. I haven't really been tempted to backslide on drinking Diet Coke, because it was just too hard to quit.

How did you decide on your goal weight?!

I started at 412 and in my initial consultation with the doctor, said my goal was 250. Prior to surgery I was able to loose 102lb, and I am now 2 months out and am down another 40lb. So my new overall goals are to get to 199, then to 187 (which is my "healthy weight"). I will then decide what to do from there. However between here and there I have 9 or so mini goals. Some of these are get to just being obese, having lost 150lb, 50lb since surgery, get to overweight, weigh less than 100kg, loose 200lb. These goals are 5 to 10 lb apart, so I find them motivating on a week to week basis, much more than the big numbers. Having said that I am 67% on my way to my 199lb goal, so that feels pretty good.

    Dark Urine

Are you taking vitamins? I find those make my pee go pretty golden.

    Two months post op

I am 8 weeks out tomorrow and are 38.5 lb down. My average calorie intake since I moved to puree/soft/solids is just under 700 per day.

    Finally Under 300

Congrats, that is a huge milestone! Well done.

  10. 17 lb in 2 weeks is awesome. Keep the faith, you are going great.
  11. Still on liquid diet, 3 1/2 weeks post op, family vacation. Being strong!
  12. I just told them I wasn’t eating. They didn’t seem to mind.
  13. I am three weeks out today and I too am feeling low energy. I am fairly sure it is the ultra low calorie diet, so I guess it wont get much better until I move on to puree in about 9 days, then softs sometime after that. Under 500 cal per day is not a lot of gas in the tank.

    Calculating total weight loss

I calculate from the date of my first WLS consultation, which is my highest weight (412) and from my day of surgery weight (310). However when I talk about it I generally just talk about the bigger number. The numbers being today 117.5 and 15.5 respectively.

    Any March 2018 Sleevers?

Thank you, I was hoping to hit 100 before surgery but looks like I will come up a couple of pounds short. I didn’t want to waste my pre op time, it’s been a long journey to surgery.

    Pre-Op anxiety

I am scheduled for the 1st March 2018. To be honest so far I have not thought to much about the surgery, I have been much more focused on what happens before and after. I am sure it will all hit me, but to me it is about setting goals and working towards them, The surgery is just another (big step) in a very long journey.

    Liquid dirt

I am at day 7 of 14 of the liquid diet and my surgery is scheduled for 1st March. So far so good. I had been having a protein shake for breakfast and lunch and a regular meal often with seconds and (zero snacking) for the past 6 months and so far the liquid diet has been pretty easy. My strategy, which I expect is not for everyone was really effective and I am down 93lb since last April. The only difference I am doing for the liquid diet is I have replaced dinner with a creamy soup. My NUT suggested Pacific or Imagine Brand low fat soups. The Pacific Organic Creamy Tomato and Roasted Pepper and Tomato are pretty good. They are about 100 calories per cup.
