If your surgeon is good, he will listen and respect any decision you decide.

Congrats!!!! Vaping did work but I don't know if I can do that if I'm having surgery. I have time, I still have tons of things to do before approval but I really don't want to stop last minute. I'm going to my Dr next week so I may ask for chantix.

I just had mine last Thursday and it was very informative. I met with the surgeon right after the seminar and he knew exactly what surgery was best for me.

I am starting the process as well. I guess it depends on your weight as well. My surgeon recommended me for sleeve surgery because my BMI is 41. I was looking at both but I do not like the fact of "dumping". That just scares me! (Good Luck) Have you spoken to your surgeon yet?

I am just starting the process and currently a smoker. I am going to quit but in need of little help. Does anyone know if they would approved of the vapor e cigarette with no nicotine? I just like the fruity flavors. I quit smoking for over a month and my sister took my vape. Yes I started back..... It's so hard if you are smoker and everyone smokes at my job. Any input would be appreciated!

Airborne is the best to take for a few days and you should be all cleared up before your surgery! Good Luck!!!!

Thank You all! I will most likely do FMLA just in case. I do have vacation and sick time but not for 2 weeks. I also have short term disability. So I guess if I need it, I will use it. Thanks again for all of your input. I really appreciate it

How will I know if I need FMLA? I work in an office and I will request to be off for 2 weeks.

That is great information and thank you so much! I will definitely go with the hernia repair! I'm just a very private person and I just don't want the entire company knowing my personal business!

So I went to the surgeon today and attended the seminar and spoke to the Surgeon. I have to do 4 months of dieting with the NUT and then they will process with my insurance. I now have a lot of appointments (blood work, EKG). I told my manager I was going to a cardiologist appointment because I don't want anyone knowing at work. So when do I sit her down to let her know about this upcoming surgery? How do I tell her? I don't want her to know that I lied to her. I need to take at least 2 weeks off and I just don't know what to do?? Any advice would be great (Her and I are close, but I just think she will try to talk me out of it)

I have an appointment tomorrow to attend a seminar, meet the Dr and go over insurance information. I'm really drawing a blank on what questions I should be asking. I know the surgeon has been doing this for quite sometime and he has very good reviews as well. I'm just so overwhelmed and excited that this process is starting!!! Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You! I'm hoping that the Dr office will have someone I can go to within the office. My insurance company wants proof for the last 12 months.

I guess when I go see the Dr for the 1st time, they will let me know what to do. I just do not want to spend a bunch of money at another weight loss program. Thanks so much!!!

I contacted the insurance company and I read their requirements, I have an appointment with a Dr on July 21st. I was thinking, oh no! I've spent so much money on weight loss programs and it was a lot of money weekly. Does the Dr generally have a dietitian that you see? My BMI is over 40 so I'm hoping the process will not take that long. Thank You for letting me know!!

My insurance requires that I have tried losing weight from a medical weight loss program within the last 12 months! Ugh.... I have tried so many things in the past (not within 12 months) and I have just given up. I have lost weight with numerous of programs which were very expensive and gained my weight back and then some. So do I now have to get a dietitian and spend more money trying to lose weight before they approve me for surgery??? So much money spent on things I've already tried for years! Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks in advance. I have Cigna (open access)

I think you should surround yourself with positive people/friends! You need support, not to be put down for making a life time change. Do this for YOU! I'm starting the process and my "close" friends are so supportive. Misery loves company!! Good Luck!

I met my deductible because I was hospitalized for Kidney stones, my Dr does not know I am considering WLS, she did my physical and told me that I had to lose weight but we haven't really discussed any further regarding my options. I am actually nervous to tell her. I just hope she will be on board with my decision.
