  6. Sorry @Cocoon, are there any other options. Maybe a peer to peer? I have Aetna too and I don't understand how that insurance works. There doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to their approvals or denials. Maybe have your surgeons office go over all your documentation again and make sure they have everything entered and submitted correctly. I had a lady who got denied 3x and they couldn't figure out why, come to find out they had entered her starting weight wrong and it looked like she gained over 20lbs during the process instead of losing 20lbs. Her surgeons office corrected the error and she was approved. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  8. So sorry @Cocoon2butterfly. They cannot stop your inner butterfly from emerging my dear. What insurance do you have? Before you go in on 3rd appeal be prepared. Browse this site, there are so many awesome stories and tips, even appeal letters that others used to finally get approved, that have been posted here on BP to help all those in the process. I have learnt a lot through them. You will be in my thots n prayers. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  10. Hi I am going to agree with WLSResources, not all meds can be crushed, some meds interact w/milk products n shd not be mixed with them, applesauce is usually a safe bet for mixing with crushed meds, a lot of drugs can be compounded by your local pharmacist into a liquid formulation with taste-masking flavors (additional cost tho) Since we don't know what meds you are taking, talk to your pharmacist. ***if you are allowed peanut butter(pls check) coating tongue a bit with it will mask pretty much any awful tasting Med. *** And yes, I am a pharmacist. 14. I have Aetna too. Any hbp, high cholesterol. They can be funny with approval no rhyme or reason. I had a friend no comorb, below 4O bmi but she was approved. Another met all the requirements and was denied and had to appeal. Aetna might be the very worst with approval. My advise would be to start all over and as dreadful as it sounds, if you must wear extra weight or bend your knees like the others suggested, that's your way to go. The other option is eat your way to 40 bmi with some wiggle room. That was me 6 months ago. The worst food on the planet is McD. I swear 2 days of eating that crap and I was up 4lbs. And DO NOT have them get an initial weight for your chart that is below 40 bmi when you start. Aetna will ask for all your records in the last 2 yrs. Goodluck!!! 18. Lollll, I see those amo pills. They are huge. Try not to miss a dose. I have been having heartburn all week n trying not figure out what's causing it. I think it's the master cleanse I did this week, took 2 huge zegerid pills to try and get some sleep tonight. I am in my 5th month of my pre-surgery requirements. Good luck on your journey. 19. So sorry Mollydeez. This is just another roadblock you have to deal with. Everything will work itself out. Growing up my mom always use to say " every disappointment is a blessing". Take a deep breathe and I agree with kristenle n Courtknee.....call your insurance and actually find out what your requirements are, brainstorm, maybe you saw someone that year and you forgot. All hope is not lost. It's time to go to plan b and maybe plan c too. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  22. Hi sorry about all you troubles. Just a side note as I am in healthcare- have you not considered Medicaid? If you are disabled or both of you can't afford to pay they are a lot of options in the hospital. A lot of times your bills can be written off as charity. All the several thousand dollars you have been charged will not be billed to you. You also get a voucher to get your medicines for free. Please contact a case worker in the hospital. I have a lot of patients with similar stories like yours with multiple health conditions and most and very expensive iv medicines and they don't get charged:- cancer, kidney failure, stones, cellulitis to name a few. So look into options in your area. At least for your medical bills. Wish you luck and prayers. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
