    Slippage of sleeve

Lap band is really terrible. My surgeon doesn't even do those anymore but they do remove many a year. SOOOOO many people have complications from it. I had it in 2008 and had so many issues with it. I had to get it removed in 2012. I am MUCH MUCH happier with the sleeve. Even with all the complications I had in the first 6 months of my surgery it is 1000% better than Lap band.

    Periods and food

Every time I'm about to start my period I am so unbelievably hungry. I feel like no matter how much I eat I am still hungry. This is very very hard when I am trying to stay on plan. Does this happen to any of you? How do you combat the overwhelming hunger? I try to just keep tracking everything and pick lower calories things to eat but it's so hard when I will eat 3 oz of chicken and be hungry an hour later. ] I would appreciate any tips!

    Nervous!!

So I'm not at goal yet but I'm having the extra skin on my stomach removed because it's giving me so much trouble. The surgeon said mine will be one of the largest he's done. My surgery is June 5th. I'm so nervous because it will be a 5 hour surgery and they had trouble waking me up from my sleeve surgery which was shorter. I woke up with the breathing tube in. Also he told me I have a higher chance of infection and wound complication because of my past history and some meds I'm on. It will be a 70 cm incision. I have to stop 2 of my psoriasis meds which also scares me. My psoriasis is pretty severe when not medicated. Even when medicated I can have our breaks. 3 times in my life, and each time worse than the last, I've ended up in the hospital with a really bad out break where basically all my skin comes off. Even with all these things I feel like I NEED this surgery to improve my quality of life. I'm almost down 260 pounds from my highest of 540 and my extra skin is pretty bad already. I can't do any of the other surgeries until I reach goal but this is one I can do part way. He's explained that I may need a revision tummy tuck when I reach goal since I'm still a little less than 100 pounds away from goal. Insurance approved coverage first try though which gives you an idea of how bad it is. I'm just nervous and excited at the same time. Has anyone had this surgery? What was your recovery like? What were your results? I don't do well with surgery generally. After the sleeve surgery I was kept 5 days instead of 2 and was in pain for 3 weeks. After my gallbladder removal I was readmitted to the hospital due to pain. They told me I wouldn't be able to save my belly button. So now I get to tell people I am an alien or was created in a lab..which I'm kind of looking forward to. Lol I'm so nervous but also so hopeful this will help...

    3 months post op hungry

You really need to track to make sure you are getting enough calories and protein. I know it can be a pain but it's really vital.

    3 months post op hungry

Are you always hungry or hungry every few hours? You really do need to eat every few hours a small meal. I get hungry every few hours too. My daily calorie goal at this point is 1200. What is your daily calorie goal?

    Nervous!!

@Berry78 They haven't found a source yet I had 19 vials of blood taken on Friday... They've done xrays and blood cultures. It doesn't look like an infection and my thyroid is fine. They are looking into lupus now. We are waiting for more blood tests results to come in from Friday. She said at some point we call it a fever of unknown origin but I don't even qualify for that because they only get up to 100.7 and you need to have them at 101.1 for that diagnosis *heavy sigh* She consulted with other doctors and we just have to wait for these blood tests to come back and then go from there....ugh!

    Pretty nervous...

@Joann454 It might be easier for me now that I weigh almost 200 pounds less than I did at my sleeve surgery. It is pretty scary. It's true they wouldn't do it if they thought it was too much risk. At my preop appointment ho told me all the risks and basically left it up to me whether I still wanted to do it. I still do... I hope I lose a bunch of pounds of skin haha It would be helpful! Thank you!

    Nervous!!

@James Marusek Thanks!! @Berry78 I'm hoping it won't be so bad so I will be able to get the other surgeries! haha. We'll see I guess... Thanks though! You are right. Hopefully the surgery won't be as hard since I'm almost 200 pounds lighter than when I was when I got the sleeve surgery. They are doing a mons lift in addition to the panniculectomy so I imagine it will be swollen. I have to take my temperature everyday already since I have been having low grade fevers every day for over 5 weeks :-/ Also, I live with my parents so they are going to help. They are going away 2 weeks after my surgery but my aunt is coming to stay while they are gone. @Sosewsue61 Thank you!! @Smores Thank you! I agree! haha @chynadoll619 Thanks! I'm not sure. I wasn't breathing properly when they took the breathing tube out so they had to put it back in and I had it in for a few minutes after I finally woke up. It was kind of scary. @Navigating the Wilderness Aww! That's so sweet! Thank you! I'm glad you like what I post! haha

    Periods and food

@teacupnosaucer Yeah, it can be really hard. I wish they would see my success as motivation to lose their excess weight but I'm not going to try and force them to try and lose weight. I know when anyone tried to make me do it and I wasn't ready it just failed miserably and I ended up angry....
  10. I never received a card but have only ordered off the kids menu once. I called ahead first though so as not to be embarrassed in the restaurant if they didn't allow it. It was at Bertucci's since almost everything there is 800 calories or more. They had a grilled chicken breast with broccoli for only 190 calories on the kids menu. Thankfully they had no problem with me ordering it.

    Periods and food

I have PCOS too. It's so fun..*rolls eyes* I lost one of my ovaries already to it and I hadn't had any cysts in years due to birth control keeping it under control but after surgery I've had many. *sigh* Now my GYN stopped all birth control to do more testing since it wasn't really helping anyway.

    catheters

If I had one they removed it before I woke up.

    Periods and food

That's true. I try not to feel like a failure but I also want to stay in control of my cravings and indulgences and that time of the month my body wants a free for all lol. Sometimes it sucks to be a woman! Thanks for the tips!

    Periods and food

Thanks for the tip! 140 days of period?! That's terrible! I had been getting my period every 1-2 weeks and used ally it's only 3-4 days very light and I never have cramps. Lately it can last anywhere from 4-10 days and can be heavy with bad cramps. They found I had a polyp in my uterus and removed it last Friday. I'm hoping that will help regulate them! Have you been evaluated??

Not going to apologize for being vain

@outsidematchinside that's a good point..vanity allowed me to think I looked okay even at 540 pounds. It's weird, I felt more confident naked at 540 pounds than I do at 285 with extra skin... I feel like I'm in competition with myself now. I try and beat my best to see if I can do better. Now with my Fitbit I try and beat my last days steps the best I can.

    One Year Surgiversary!

    That's amazing!!! Congratulations!!

Not going to apologize for being vain

I definitely did this partly for vanity. I'm 30 and single. The main reason to do this surgery was to save my life because I was killing my self at 540 pounds. But a part of the reason I did this was to look hot. To shove it in the face of every person and guy who judged me first for my appearance and personality last. The ones who said I had a great personality but they weren't attracted to me...I want to get to a healthy weight and shove it in their face that I can be hot and I'm not interested in them because I can change my weight but they can't change their attitudes or poor personality. It's already started and I haven't even hit goal yet.

    Periods and food

@teacupnosaucer Yeah, I live with my parents...They are also both overweight. They are happy I am making this change for myself but are not ready to make the change for themselves...So they buy all sorts of crap. they have, after much begging, stopped putting it in the kitchen. But I know where they keep it. I try not to think about it but I know it's there and when I'm having a really bad day it's hard to just be like, there's nothing there. That's true about the head hunger vs actual hunger. I will try the whole waiting 20 minutes thing. Thanks for that tip! @Ms. Brightside Haha! pampering is always nice! I like to get my nails done and that is my pampering though I can only do that every couple weeks. I can't now though because I will be having plastic surgery on my extra skin on June 5th...I will just have to get it taken off so I figure I might as well wait! I might get a pedicure though. I have never really done one of those bath bomb things...I'm not even sure I fit in my bath tub yet! I am pretty tall ( a little over 5'10) so bathtubs aren't really comfy lol

    HOP INTO SPRING CHALLENGE!!

@Torriluv87 Aww! It is sometimes hard when you fall off! It's good you are getting back on track! I also started tracking again. I had fallen off of tracking for a while and now that I'm tracking again the weight is coming off more steadily. We will get through this rough patch! Even if you don't make it to goal it will be okay!
