Clammy and dizzy 3 weeks post op

I had this happen once close to my post-op. It happened when I had a broth with a lot more fat than normal in it. Made me very queasy and nauseous had to lay down and take the anti-nausea med.

    Stall. I know, eye roll

You should check with your nut, but my team is anti-snack. My intake between meals is Protein shakes (2 per day) and Water. I just moved up to 3oz meals at 3 months post op. One piece of advice and something that stressed importance of measuring/weighing food is that I am to eat with portion control in mind, not eating until full. One key reason for that is "fullness" with restriction can lead to discomfort or throwing up. I would also echo the protein bar comment.

    Question about pain pump

I had one inserted into my abdomen, I didn't even really know what it was at first. But, I do remember coming out in recovery moaning like baby, this thing was good and I guess it may be why I didn't really need pain medications (or the additional ones from Rx). I was very worried about pulling that thing out, but read directions and it will go just fine. Go slow, the first tug is the hardest. Mine had the added complication that the latex tubing was causing an allergic reaction so for the first week or so I had a red outline of the pump on my stomach as a reminder. It seems intense to pull out and it is surprisingly long, but it was easy. I was worried it was not working because it took a couple of days or so to notice any deflation in the ball.

    Do you count carbs?

I would say that I did atkins once pre surgery, I wanted to murder people for bread. I don't have that same feeling of loss or need for carbs now, at least not so far.

    Do you count carbs?

At 3 months post op I am told to avoid sugar flour rice I don't count carbs I weigh my food and choose Protein first then. --a low carb fruit or a colorful veg; sometimes whole grain or nuts First couple of months i was told to watch protein and Water then try to do mushy meals that were very low carb.

    Crackers

Parmasean crisps or I bought something at Starbucks that tasted like a cheese it-- called moon cheese
  9. I took off a week and worked from home a week. I was really tired and would not have wanted to be out, dressed up and at work with fixed schedule during that time. I think more than that amount of time, as I did feel better and was up to being there (commuting, work, etc), would have been a challenge to me and might have made it harder to have other time off work for vacation or follow-up appointments. If someone has the luxury of being off longer, that could be great. Professionally, it would not have been helpful to me; and honestly I was completely fine to go after 2 weeks away as I had no real complications or unexpected results.

    Starting BMI or ending?

You should consult your insurance policy and discuss with your surgeon office. Hopefully they are savvy. I would caution you that it is likely something in your policy that they are free to change or that could change with plan renewal. Unless you have a positive and clear conversation with insurance company AND get something in writing I would be hesitant to risk losing coverage. They may take comorbidities into account and have a different BMI for that. Again, the challenge is that you will likely not have anything in writing or generate a decision until 6 months out so it is challenging to predict.

    Wound opened

Mine didn't open but the adhesive in some of the bandages gave me a reaction of itchy redness. I switched them out when I could and used some Benedryl cream along with neosporin.

    Dry mouth

Ketosis or high protein drys your mouth. Always try to get your liquids many like biotene which is a mouth wash for dry mouth. I have it and when feel really dry use for a while.

    genepro vs isopure

Bleach the isopure rtd are not representative of the unflavored! 'Mainly due to not having an artificial flavor or sweetener. I agree though. I drank them for about the first week post op because at the time I just could not get myself to drink shakes after surgery. So it was like half of the rtd and a broth with unflavored. My go to is now premier rtd chocolate and unjury chicken. Still have and use isopure unflavored. I like that best in cold Water with a little lime, or in broth.

    Love it! You look great!

    What is your favorite snack?

I guess I really consider my tiny meals my snack! My team does not endorse any snacking other than protein shakes. I have said and do have from time to time additional cheese like a baby bel. (Or baby elephant according to auto correct)
  16. I only think relevant for someone to know in the immediate time after surgery and your incisions will tell that story if you cannot.

    genepro vs isopure

Ok so there are those who swear by GENEPRO and those who like others. The key to any is that you don't go over 140 degrees with Water mixing. I have mixed Isopure with cold water and hot broth. I love it it is tasteless I find it odorless it is inexpensive in comparison to some other brands. You can get it at Vitamin shoppe GNC or Amazon For me, genepro seems like a shady company that also hawks "natural steroids" with a lot of scam appearing science. And I cannot get over the 30g of Protein in 15 g serving. I am all about reasonable space time continuum. unjury starter kit is nice because you get their chicken broth (yum!) a thermometer and shaker bottle Best of luck!

    Gift for surgeon

Never underestimate the appreciation of a note and a nice review on doctor review sites that have a growing consumer audience. Also you may want to copy the head of surgery on your letter to emphasize the importance of your team to you!

    Any Newbies in Maryland ?

I am sure you will! I recommend a pillow from home and a sleeping/eye mask. I had such odd sleeping pattern it was nice to be able to black out the light when needed! My favorite shift of nurses was early morning. Make sure you press them if you ask for something and they don't get back to you i had two really spacey ones!

    Two tickets on plane?

I would be hesitant about hoping for a refund. You would want to call airline and you would also need to deal with it on flight with crew I would imagine. I can't imagine that would be pleasant. Seriously on some airlines you might be really surprised if you have flexibility about cost of first class.
  21. Well others who have had will share but do you follow clusie L on YouTube? She just had a couple of plastic procedures and specifically with arms discussed challenges and accommodations with limited movement. I find her enteraing and inspiring.

    Two tickets on plane?

Definitely go window. If you can fly virgin or jetblue more comfort seats worth the extra expense. Frankly for flights at 2+ hours I would fly first class --- you get more leg room wider seat and healthier free food, not to mention pre boarding and free checked bags. It is worth exploring I would certainly go first class before buying two coach!
  23. @@Pi Sano for me, at a little over 3 'months post op i can tell you bloated feeling will go away and get better stick to your plan Water sip sip sip. You will feel it fill up and small sips make it more comfortable. You will likely find as i did that it takes quite a long time to finish especially at first. This show rationale for post op liquid diet as it would be hard to abide by 30/30 rule with constant sips! food you loved well I guess that is a philosophical discussion for many on this board. I believe it is about a new way of eating and living as we have changed our body to help change the outcome of eating in long run. That means a long run of eating differently and recognizing what that means to you personally. Will you indulge? Can you one day? Should you and how do you balance quality of that indulgence and monitoring any weight gain? For me that seems way off in future. But many foods can be changed to high Protein and diet friendly --- bunless cheeseburgers, "pizza" interpreted as sauce and cheese on parmasean crisp (or other variations). Your body has changed, now is time for mind and actions to support!
